Look for the sweet spot in materials when cutting, you get more matts and cuts faster

don't forget the modifiers on your blocks. cargo blocks give a recycle bonus which has a chance not to consume ammo/fuel. I have a missile launcher sandwiched between 4 medium cargo blocks and 2 rapid fire mounts giving it 14 recycle.. an hour of constant murder later and I only used ~10 missiles instead of a couple hundred. Once you figure out the reactor/efficiency/modifier system you can make some pretty powerful stuff

I definitely need to look into that. The block bonuses are a bit confusing to me. It's hard to understand how they are displaying the bonus info.

@@Glidercat it took me a sec to figure out too. Take a weapon mount: say it will reduce weapon reactor load by 3 and has an efficiency rating of 10. Put a weapon on it that has a reactor load of 16. The mount will reduce that weapon load to 13, then 10 is applied to the cab's efficiency pool and the remaining 3 will go toward the base reactor level. So the way I look at it is cabs with high reactor load but low efficiency are good for armored tanks, cabs with high efficiency are good for builds with lots of wheels and weapons but in the end.. it only really matters when using parts that actually reduce the reactor load of parts (mounts and axles)

@@Glidercat unless you were talking about the modifiers.. sorry.. I have an excited 5 year old chattering in my ear lol. The modifiers are pretty straightforward for the most part. Armor reduces damage taken (by 10% per point I believe I read somewhere) Turbo affects wheel speed and weapon RoF. Amplify affects the magnitude of a part; Weapon damage.. maybe shield strength now that I think about it? I haven't done too much extensive testing myself but stacking recycle on the big guns with lots of connection points or the heavy armor plates on heavy cargo containers to make them massive chunks of undefeatable armor is my typical gameplan lol

had a laugh wen you said "gotta keep my eyes open for aluminum" while sitting right next to the bauxite deposit. Which you then drove away from and later right into. good video keep it up

Some of that may have to do with my colorblindness. Those deposits probably don't stand out to me as obviously as they should. That said, I make plenty of mistakes that have nothing to do with that too! 😸

Been playing for a few hours now. Best advice I could give you is to craft the Fragmenter Y2 as soon as possible. You can break down all them junk tech parts into resources. I still struggle to maintain enough aluminum for ammo, but everything else I have in abundance now from breaking down parts.

The scrapper breaks down your spare parts, the fragmenter is useful for breaking down rocks that have the trait "density" and will auto pull any chunks left on the ground near it. The quicksand jungle has a lot of mines and plants you can destroy for phosphorous. Aluminum is plentiful when you break down all the extra connectors you get. Once you are farming the arctic circle, you'll never need any of the basic resources again because you'll end up with more parts than you can even recycle with one scrapper. I recommend having your base right on the edge of the Arctic so you can spawn an arctic overcharged build right on the edge of the freezing Temps until you get a heater and heater fuel for your tech. The large armored wheels you get in the arctic can be recycled for end game resources. You can automate all your production machines using the conduits and silos. Have fun.

@johnnycandles8675 All good. I knew what you meant. I figured I could share a few things I learned that I got stuck on. The game can be a real grind but once I figured those things out it got a lot easier. It's a great game and I'm excited to see future updates.

when pulling blocks out of the workbench, you can drop them onto the ground with MMB instead of trying to clear out your inventory. then you can hit tab to go into your building mode and you will be able to pick it up and place it as expected

If you have a block too close to a turreted gun it will no be able to move.

I tried the game and cannot get that into it. Its the building that stops me. It was better in TerraTech. At least when building a base you can pop on a cap and then switch to that and build better. The game has potential to be good if they figure some things out, which I am sure they will. There are some good things in the game too, the combat seems better as you have more control over where you are shooting. That being said moving and shooting can be tricky in some situations and the auto from the original was helpful there. Also power management is a pain in the A^%.

Yeah, it seems like it would be simple enough to have a build mode where you're completely untethered to anything and can just build. I'm kind of shocked they didn't opt for that given how cumbersome it is to work the camera when you're working on building the base.

I bought this and refunded it an hour later. TerraTech was a riot right out the gate. Blasting lil techs and building up was sooo fun This was an hour of grinding tutorial, just terrible. The early game experience has zero excitement. I prefer the stupid childish fun of cringe missions for weird techs. They really need to rethink the early game here. Love the videos but I cant imagine how much footage of you harvesting materials youve had to cut.

It's not as grindy as people make it out to be, you can laser the parts enemy techs drop and get an abundance of resources, too much even. And later down the road utilize a scrapper. But I agree the game does need more excitement

It's more of a grind but it's worth it In my humble opinion I played through to the endgame and was impressed with how insane it gets lol. Super fun and challenging. Slow start fun once you learn the game.

There's very little grind for basic resources once you get the scrapper and start collecting/scrapping parts from defeated techs. But early on, it is a bit tedious mining each deposit.
