MIG29 designed to fight tiny F16 and smallish F18. SU27 designed to fight large F15's.

@@Roneck888 Your correct - Su27 and F15 are stand off weapons platforms :) SU27 family is a generation ahead of f15. SU30 comparable to F22, SU34 has no analogue, SU35 has no analogue..... Mig29/35 is a fronline, lightweight(disposable fighter - think WW2 Hurricane), or F16/18/35(Yes F35 is a 5th gen turkey ie 4+) combatant. SU57 is F22+, and with Hunter AI assist, its Fxx+. Mig41 = J20++ = probably! :)

The Soviet and now Russian approach to military design and procurement is very different to the US one. In the USA the government issues requirements for an aircraft and a private corporation will produce the aircraft after its design beats rivals for the contract. In Russia design and production are separate entities. MiG design this aircraft and the majority publicly owned aerospace company UAC has divisions to manufacture it. The same applies to the SU-57. Sukhoi design and UAC produce. It appears to be a very capable aircraft and the costs of the program are a small fraction of the F-35 program. So much for the idea that only private enterprise can excel at innovation and efficiency. Airbus is also largely public owned. They also do well. My point? In the 1990s here in NZ we were told our telecoms and electricity needed to be privatized, because public ownership was not efficient. Competition between private owners was supposed to result in a better product and lower prices for consumers. The opposite happened. Privatization is still pushed hard by the Americans. They would like Wall Street investor types to own the world's capital assets. No thanks. P.S. How can Russia afford these things when they could not in the 1990s? Mostly it is due to Putin re-nationalizing their oil and gas after it had been privatized in the 1990s. Western companies had their hands on Russian resources in what were called resource sharing agreements. Russia was losing money on them. Putin ended that. Wall Street did not get to own Russia's resources. This upset many people in the West. Some private investment exists, but most of the proceeds belong to the public, so can be used in the state budget. Russian oil and gas industries recovered and thrived. They became more of a competitor to western companies, while also helping to fund Russia's recovery. A recovery that made Putin popular in Russia, but unpopular with western leaders and investors etc. Even a brief study of modern history shows a trend. Almost every country that privatizes its oil and gas sees the USA become hostile against it. Iran, Iraq, Libya, Venezuela, Russia, etc. Others face troubles of western making too, e.g., Sudan and Nigeria. Saudi Arabia avoided becoming a target by making agreements to sell their product only in US dollars.

La aviación de Rusia es sin duda de lo mejor que existe en la actualidad. Son aviones más fáciles de pilotar, menos complejos de manejar en combate dogfight y sus misiles tienen mayor rango de alcance lo que les hace tremendamente eficaces y mortales para los pilotos occidentales. Son menos costosos de producir y de mantener, no como los occidentales. La maniobrabilidad es superior a los occidentales y solo el F22 Raptor se les acerca un poco. No me he equivocado. Sigue siendo la mejor fuerza aérea en preparación y en maniobras, el problema que tienen todos los aviones hoy en día como los tanques es que con un simple misil portátil destrozas cualquier vehículo sea aéreo o terrestre. Los aviones occidentales tienen un gran problema, dependen totalmente de la tecnología y esta se puede bloquear fácilmente y dejar inútil el avión, lo que no pasa con los aviones de fabricación rusa. La guerra entre Rusia y Ucrania en una guerra injusta e innecesaria para Rusia, Putin se ha equivocado y está arriesgando las vidas no sólo de ucranianos sino de sus propios pilotos y soldados, esta guerra la va a perder porque es una guerra de misiles , no como la 2 guerra mundial que fue de tanques, aviones e infantería cuerpo a cuerpo, el futuro será aún peor, armas de energía de corta, media y larga distancia, armas láser que ya se utilizan para derribar aviones y nucleares que serán el fin de la humanidad. Sencillamente la humanidad no tiene remedio, somos autodestructivos…!

MIG 35 is the best selling fighter aircraft of the world...but yet to prove its mettle. American F 15 was only exported and sold to a limited number of countries and yet thus far has a record of OVER A 100 KILLS WITH NO LOSS. It is not the number sold but the quality and lethality!!!

@@nafisfuadayon6832 The lockheed starfighter was a supersonic jet fighter interceptor ,capable of carrying nuclear weapon . It was not a trainer. The mig 29 with modern avonics can take on f16 f18 f15 US jet fighters quite easily.
