i don't know if you'll see my comment but commissaire Cardy, chief of RAID was the first responder in Bataclan. He came in first, just with his driver and his SIG SAUER, killed one terrorist who was on stage from the other side of the room. That was before he was in RAID. This man has steel balls. i don't remember if it was him or his driver, but just before going in, one of the men called his wife just said " there is an attack in bataclan. I'm going in, love you". Man... this hit so hard. I'm a cop, i saw him once or two times before he leaves for Paris. Once, i was in "attention" pose for the Cannes movie festival on the stairs. He came to me and shook my hand. Didn't know what to do for a sec because you are not suposed to move but i was too honored to refuse this kind attention. It's because of these attacks now some units like BAC has G36 in their equipments. Other units, non specialized has UMP9. The first units to join, the BAC (Anti criminality brigade) had only their sig sauer, they ask to the military who was their for their rifle in order to go in, but they refused (which is understandable but moraly hard i'd say). The military did'nt has permission to move and actually help. So they had to wait the special units such RAID or BRI.

Fun Fact : On the A86 highway near Vélizy Villacoublay, where the GIGN headquarters is located, accidents sometimes occur due to the group’s members passing by during exfiltration exercises. Drivers, intrigued by men hanging from ropes, stop paying attention to the road, and we know how that ends 😅
@huyxiun2085Ай бұрын
Someone really should build a wall at least around the highway part. It's hard enough for those guys to train and for their structures to provide an adequate environment for this, this kind of distraction isn't exactly good looking. Moreover, if communication and showcasing is a necessary part of the military, it has to remain a small part. The fact that you can watch (spy) parts of the training from the road sounds a little bit like a safety issue. Although, they probably are already very well aware of that and still carry on, thus, I'm not too concerned there. ... I'm doing the typical French thing, right? The difference in uniforms is that Raid and BRI (nicknamed "Antigang" as their specialty is fighting violent organized crime but they are sometimes called for anti terrorism too as they have the heavy stuff to counter heavily armed perps) are police while GIGN are part of the Gendarmerie which is a police force but that is technically part of the army, hence the Multicam instead of the Blue / Black of police forces.
@damienvidal2420Ай бұрын
That being said, the gendarmerie can be deployed in foreign countries for peacekeeping purposes for instance while the police can't. They have an advantage over the police : they're trained in combat and over the army : they're trained in crowd control. It makes the gendarmerie a very versatile force. They will guard embassies for instance, like the Marines in the US embassies.

The BRI was formed in the sixties for Paris' protection against organized crime. After Munich's Olympics killings, it was extended to the whole country, though the Paris unit maintains a separate status. Regarding their patch, I am not sure; but the monster on it looks like a gargoil, maybe because it is an intimidating figure represented on top of lots of historical french buildings such as Notre Dame de Paris. These figures sit above the city so they could watch and protect it in a way. I am not sure about that, so feel free to chime in. 🙂

There is a clip from a hostage/terrorist situation in Africa to which a French special operations unit responded, I believe it was the French SAS (1er RPIMa) and they too had a guy on the team carrying a pump shotgun among the other HK416s. So the French have obviously identified a tactical niche during hostage rescue operations (or other ops) where they believe a shotgun is the answer to a problem. Their movement seemed very slow for a hostage situation in my opinion but hey they're the experts, they're the ones doing it and they're the men in the arena. Plus it was obviously made for higher ups and/or cameras to send a message. Btw there were also a few Americans who responded to that terrorist attack mentioned earlier, namely one operator from a certain unit (the unit) in the US Army. Kyle Morgan is his name and he came face to face with the gunmen. His story is incredible.

BRI is the laughingstock of other special unit from the French Police. Before a huge merging of special units in the Police, there was the GIPN too. Few of them around France, Groupe D’intervention de la Police Nationale: National Police Intervention Group. They had lots of ops in their background, those guys were not messing around. Then the RAID which was always the most famous unit was still there. But there was one unit who was created at that time: the BI, Brigade d’intervention. Lead by a former RAID team leader (who quit the RAiD because the highest ranking member couldn’t care less about the guys and was only about making his own fame by being the RAID chief). Funny story, this team leader basically wrote an official notice to this prick, put it in the notice board at the RAID building entrance, the notice basically asking him, with a polite civil language to basically go suck a bag of d*cks. If I said that the BRI was always the laughingstock of the other units, I say it as ive being long time dummy/cobaye/guinea pig for the GIPN (Cobra 06), RAID and BI. I received a BRI stamped cutting board last time i met the RAID: WTF? Looks cool but why? Answer: those guys are sausages that’s why they have cutting board in their goodies😂😂😂.

@@commandophoenix605 yes they are the laughingstock of the tactical units of the French police. Not from the civilians of course but from other units. The difference of level can be explained also because the BRI or the Antigang isn’t focused on tactical operations only but also some detective work. So yes, in the small world of tactical units, they’re a joke. The biggest joke being that they had this armored blacked out truck although they were the less skilled…But it doesn’t mean that they are worthless, far from that. The other duties under their responsibilities are very important and interesting.

If they had a "marine style" haircut, terrorists would be reluctant to have "business" contacts with them. The infiltrated agents must look like ordinary people, or like "villains", NOT like trained special agents at all...
@dragsto5921Ай бұрын
Okay so just for a little patch all these units aren't "special forces" in France we more prefer to say they are National Interventions Forces (And they are more than the GIGN, RAID or the BRI but that's mostly the more publicly knowed in the public) since they are meant to operate on the national territory and only that "Unless some exceptions like GIGN being deployed in Afghanistan at the time for some STU missions"Search Task Units" in example or the RAID in example who are mostly deployed in some"Hot diplomatic area" for ambassy or consulates for protection to VIP or simply being specialized renforcements for the Diplomatic security forces (Mostly Gendarmes Mobiles or CRS police personal) and just for answer your i guess interrogation about the BRI, know that the National French police divided their intervention forces between the two more important Directorate i will say such as (The judiciary police or PJ where directly depends the BRI with the Prefecture of Police of Paris who got an internal component inside the BRI-PP who stands for Brigade de Recherche et D'intervention de la Préfecture de Paris so if we simplify, they are the Antigang-Anticommando Intervention Unit and their more focus on that then the RAID who focus on the Counter Terrorist and Hostage situation mission. They both have the each other quality but one is more focused in their dominant mission and also where GIGN and RAID got full authority on their Department national Jurisdiction, the BRI and BRI got them full Jurisdiction on Paris and their little crown. So that's kinda like that their major difference so i hope i have kinda goodly explicate it and if you want answers feel free to ask me i know french people here like to help in the comprehension of our Forces. No, you're wrong, it's the British method. Remember Dunkirk. Fortunately, the French were there to sacrifice themselves while the British Expeditionary Force fled through their gaping back doors. You must stop remaking history with your incessant French bashing. Anglo-saxon dégénéré de mes deux !

@@commandophoenix605 LOL! I'm French, I know very well that the SF in France are under the command of the COS. But the GIGN is considered Special Forces. It is not under the command of the COS but under a separate command. Headed by GIGN boss Mr Ghislain RÉTY.

@@gabg_7559 Bon fréro, le GIGN, tout comme le RAID, la BRI et la BI sont considérés comme des UNITES D'INTERVENTIONS de niveau 3. Pas des FS meme si le niveau est très élevé.

Interestingly enough the security was probably the only part of the Paris -24 olympics that actually functioned properly (nobody got blown up = success). The rest of the arrangement was the worst we´ve ever seen. Nothing worked properly, literally nothing. Cardboard beds so the athletes went and bought their own, no ac in middle of the summer, restaurants ran out of food (and it was only vegan.. for top athletes, wtf?!), swimming in the superpolluted river (pukemania among the athletes) etc etc. Paris 2024 will be remembered for a long time as a warning example of how NOT to run the olympics.

It's stupid but you're almost the only one who thinks that. In the opinion of athletes around the world it was a success, the same for the IOC and the millions of spectators who went there (including me). Are you Frustrated? Jealous? Russian? Or just an idiot?
@TullzterАй бұрын
that's weird, as it's named one of the best olympics in recent memory, a bar set very high. You clearly have no idea what you're on about, the restaurants weren't vegan, the no AC is a choice for eco purposes, not everyone is a fat sweaty america, the belgian triathlete that puked turned out she puked from exhaustion, not that you would know since obv you'd never get off your couch. Lol the bar is set very high, let's see how meth infected LA does🤣🤣

The beds are based on the same concept as the beds used in Tokyo OGs (actually the same Japanese company was in charge for making them). AC aren't as common in Europe as in the US. However they ordered 2500 AC units for the Olympic village. For restaurants...not a surprise though I would have expected you rather mentioned the skyrocketing prices of the food menus. Swimming in the Seine River...Yup, it was a disaster all French people expected and a promise we knew the politicians couldn't hold...as always. And on top of everything, the insulting opening the OGs. I saw some extracts, one of the reason why I didn't watch the games. It disgusted me.

It’s more a scenario created for the national tv programm rather than a real exercice, but still amazing I obviously wouldn't want a terrorist attack to happen but if it did happen, I would really like to see these guys to intervene Thanks for this video
