I hate that this is so prevalent in our society. How did we get to this place where people think it's such a burden? If you can't get to everything in a day, don't. I have plenty of days when I take a "sick" day and don't do anything outside of meals. Take a "time out" lol, that we give to kids. So glad you're seeing how our speech influences our lives and choosing gratefulness. It's something everyone in this world needs to learn and we need to teach our kids. See the beautiful things in the day, acknowledge the simple pleasures, laying in the grass, watching a sunrise and singing in the kitchen doing the dishes.

Great tips for moms and wives! Another thing that goes along with that is reframing my thoughts. So instead of thinking "I have to go fold the laundry" or "I have to go to the grocery store today" I now think "I GET to fold the laundry. What a blessing to have my kids and to have clean laundry for them to wear." Or "what a blessing to have money to buy the groceries we need for the next two weeks." That helps me not feel like a victim, because I am doing what I want to do, to help my family, and it also creates a mindset of gratitude. This is not how I was even a year ago and the change is dramatic. Yesterday I was cleaning out the brooder box for our ducklings, which is a wet and stinky job, and I realized I was thinking about how cute our ducklings are and humming a praise song to God instead of complaining about the smell. 🥰

Thank you for sharing this, i am a mom of 8 and I find that I complain and really live in an attitude of overwhelm and discouragement. I do struggle with depression. Throughout the years I have kept a thankfulness journal. You are very encouraging.

Congratulations on your book! As much as I hate that you experienced this victim mindset of motherhood, I'm so happy to know it happens to even a mother as amazing as you. I have experienced it SO bad to where I didn't want to be a mom anymore and hated my life. Which is SO crazy because this is my dream! I realized it was Instagram moms "helping other moms see they are seen and mothering is difficult" and then I'd spend the rest of my day thinking "this is so hard. Being a working mom is way easier. No one knows how hard I work. I hate this. Etc" whispering it over and over in my head and let me tell you.. it's the devil trying to destroy families.

Yes! I completely agree with everything you mentioned. Sometimes the motherhood “compassion” is more of a justification for women to make themselves into victims. :( I love finding moms who are the opposite of that to truly learn and be inspired by! ❤️❤️ thank you for sharing!

I am such a fan of you and your husband. I loved the videos of the two of you. I loved watching you listening to him talking . It is obvious that he respects you and adores you. You are always reading and coming up,with simple, sweet practical ways to connect with him. You two seem very similar in how you think and function together. You are beautiful, intelligent and so earnest and genuine. You try so hard. I loved the blooper part of the marriage video where you two were so playful and fun loving together. I watch a number of similar type videos and like what you said about your faith and traditional values . You clearly are not extreme which makes what you have to say all the more appealing. I encourage you to keep it simple and slow down as you prepare to deliver your 3rd child . I plan to buy your gratitude journal . How in the world did you find time to do that too? I an 72 years old and wish I had your wisdom when I was your age. Wishing you and your husband comfort and joy.

Just started reading “Parenting Collection” by Dr. James Dobson! It’s a 3 in 1 book and was on sale on Amazon. I’ve just started it but it’s a very great read and he teaches parenting skills from a Judeo Christian perspective. A lot of our parents’ generation turned to him for advice as well. You may or may not agree with everything he writes but it’s a good book so far!

This is a very good question. I did a video addressing how to do BIG projects with small kids, a little while ago, sharing some of what I’ve learned. I don’t know your situation, but we don’t actually live in the house we’re currently remodeling, so that definitely makes things a bit easier. This is a link to that video: I hope it’s helpful. I understand the struggle. ❤️ kzbin.info/www/bejne/hpysmHh6jd2loJI

Hello, I know I’m not even who you asked and I’m not a single mom so I guess I’m not entirely sure how people hack it. I wonder if you have a partner who’s willing to step up and help figure out finances or what the situation is. I don’t think there is a magical answer to this. I will say when we struggled early on (my daughter had to have surgery so I stayed home with her for 6 months) I ended up writing random blog posts for people and basically working full time just trying to find ways to make a few extra dollars here and there. It’s about making the most of your time, figuring out exactly what you need to survive and what you can give up, and asking for help. I suggest sitting down with your spouse and really sorting through it all. It takes two. If you’re in a situation where you need more help, I’d suggest getting involved in a church quite honestly because being a mom is also an act of faith in a sense. There are absolutely no guarantees. Also, personally I definitely believe children are a gift from the Lord in the context of marriage and unfortunately all kinds of life circumstances can turn our world upside down but the Lord provides and all we can do is plan for the worst and know our children will always be the world to us. Having recently lost my second kiddo, I feel this first hand because I’d do anything to have financial struggles rather than that loss but for you since there’s apparently not a child yet, yeah I’d take time to plan but also just talk to others in your life who are doing it. And maybe children won’t be in the cards and you’ll find joy in volunteering to help other kids somehow. I don’t know without knowing you or your story, but that’s the best I’ve got. I wish you all the joy in the world and a great rest of your weekend.
