This drill is excellent. It’s challenging because the players must understand the movements and follow the patterns each time, whilst maintaining a good first touch ,tempo, control, weight of pass and changing directions. The accumulation of these facets applies pressure, requires the participant to think and helps build cognitive skills. Modern approaches to football development is aimed at nurturing cognition, competence and character.

It's teaching them patterns, kind of like running a fast break in basketball or coming out of your zone in hockey, etc. This is nice except when the opposition knows what you're running. This is rather basic stuff, essentially just playing back to a teammate with better vision of the field behind you.

@coachtamim86054 жыл бұрын
ok its complex drill I dnt like it but the purpose is to pass the ball at the middle then switch the play

It’s to learn to combine without being robotic, timing of movement to receive and pass out, type of touch to lay off, body shape and angles, type of pass to go out (lofted, driven, chipped, etc)

2 mins and 30 secs of explaining before the ball is rolling, FA tutors crucify us for that on our courses.

That's always been top of mind for me along with the players that are waiting to be involved. I wonder if there is a way to build something similar with a small sided game with restrictions. I imagine this exercise builds great technical attributes but they do not come to life once pressure is applied on the player.
