Thanks for being vulnerable with us. Those of us who went through post partum shedding know the pain you speak of😢. Thankfully, it does grow back and get better. Your renewed locs will always remind you of when you had your babies. Your locs hold family history just as you held your family lovingly in your womb.

Congratulations on your baby. Ive had sisterlocks for 8 yrs. I am 5 months postpartum and i keep my hair covered at home so baby doesnt grab it, i didn't notice the shedding till 4 months and i was shocked. I skipped my last re-tightening session because i thought the manipulation would break the locs, but i ended up going in on wed and it looks so much better. The hairdresser had to combine some, but it sort of prevents them from falling off, so im ok with that. My edges look better and she didnt do them tight

When I had my babies, I combined a few locs in the front and at the top of my head. I’d combine a weak one with a stronger loc and then cut the loc and use it to repair weak spots in thinner locs. I kept retightening it myself just not too close to the scalp. I also left out the struggle locs from being pinned up in ponytail after the shedding stopped.

I loc’d my hair while pregnant. My daughter is 3 and my right side edges have still not recovered 😢 it’s mainly on a small area so I just have to be conscious of styling but it makes me so sad! I’ve considered combing out my locs BUT I love them too much and I don’t think they’re coming back anyway lol

With my first set of sisterlocks I combined them and then when I had my first son in 2018 that postpartum shedding had me looking like I had a double forehead 😅 when I got pregnant the second time I just cut all my locs off 🤣I waited until after postpartum to start the set I have now

Thank you for sharing. My postpartum shedding was bad with both pregnancies. My edges were completely bald. I was in shock. They never fully recovered.

I also had POSTPARTUM shedding. My POSTPARTUM shedding was also near my hairline. I had the worst POSTPARTUM shedding with my 2nd pregnancy, but also had POSTPARTUM shedding with my first. Josette, I hope the hair you lost with POSTPARTUM shedding grows back nice and strong! (And this is to support you, saying what YOU need to say to help fellow new moms ❤).

Too much hand in hair. The best way to combat shedding is to leave your hair alone...you doing too much manipulation!
