European Fertilier guidance advises not to blend Sulfur and KNO3 fertilizers. Why is that? No carbon involved. But is it still dangerous and explosive?

Yes very much so simply because potassium nitrate is a strong oxidising agent and any combination with a combustible substance would make it easily susceptible to being a fire hazard. Even starch or flour would make a highly exothermic mix.

Yes Im sure barium nitrate would produce a lovely green flame and strontium a beautiful red flame. Coloured flames of fireworks is something we could explore.

Oh thats a great book so glad you could get it.Yes I have some mercury thiocyanate... but the nitration of bitumen is even better but much tricker to get the chemistry right.. but well worth trying as much less toxic and great carbon snakes a bit like one of my earlier exploring the dehydration of para-aniline.

Can you please show how you make clean sulphuric acid. It doesn't matter if it is dilute say 20%. I can always boil it down then distill it later.

Potassium carbonate, nitrite, cyanate, sulphate, carbonate, sulphite, sulphuric acid,Carbon, carbon dioxide etc depending on the ratios used. Hope this helps 👍
