Looks like a beautiful day out. That's absolutely hilarious! Josey already knows how to be a tear jerker lol. He is definitely one big hog and people would be surprised to know how much of him is muscle. All the goats and calf are looking good. Beautiful barn cats hopefully they're as good at pest control as they are pretty. Joseys always got so many questions and you're so patient answering her. Do those type of chicken get very big or are they more of the laying variety? Sorry to hear about the two losses but it still seems to be going better than before so that's a blessing. She is definitely a small piglet especially compared to her siblings. Hopefully you and Josey have a great day tomorrow.

Hey Trey, she got him good lol. Gary is a tank no joke, he feels like he has armor on. I usually never see a mouse, but when I do its one's mouth lol. Some days she drives me crazy with the questions lol, I do try to be patient because that is how they learn. Yeah, these chicks are a cross from the layers I have in the coop. I seem to have trouble with the rabbits I lost 4 altogether since the video still have 5 from that doe. If she was with a big breeder, they probably would have culled her, Josey has been packing it around like a kitten. Hope you have a good day as well. Thanks

That's quite a variety of critters that need to be fed every day! How long does it take in real time?
@joeydamrell1860Ай бұрын
Hey Gregg, a lot depends on Josey lol, if she wants to pet or help even, if I could go straight through just feeding probably 30 minutes each time morning/evening. Now, add watering some days adds another 30 minutes and in winter (day below freezing) that's every day for water because of breaking ice, etc.

Daily chores - ours take about 1 to 1/2 hours every day for the regular stuff and add on time if we have to do any extras (or if weather is poor). I have my dream "barn" designed but need funds to build. It should be about 60 K in supplies, but then I need to have ground work done.. or cementing if I go that route, plus labor to put it up... So right now it is just a dream. Then I could have all the livestock consolidated and not have to trudge around outside for all of my chores all winter long.

Prices are crazy now a days. I lucked out on my barn, the company I was working for before I got Josey was going to bulldoze it over and I ask my boss if I could have it, he give me 2 weeks to get what I could, and it had to be after work and on weekends, but I did get it all down and moved to our place to rebuild, so I got it for almost free. It would be nice to have concrete floors and heat lol. Keep the dream you can get it done! Thanks

It takes them 2 years to get ready to eat and it takes a normal hug 6to 8 months
@joeydamrell1860Ай бұрын
Hey Buck, they definitely take a while, I know they can be easier to handle that a bigger pig (very gentle) they don't eat as much if you have good grass for them and they won't dig up your fields, and they don't smell like a pig that's in a small pen. If you are just wanting meat and want it fast yes, the bigger breeds are more suited for that. I thought when I got these, I could sell the babies fairly easy, and they were going for a nice penny at the time. That was my goal, I do like the breed, but the prices have dropped way down from where they were and not as easy to sell as they once were 2 years ago. Out of these, 2 sold at 3 days old the others are still available, but I did just list them a few days ago. Thanks Buck

@joeydamrell1860 but they do eat as much are more take me 7 mouths take you 2 years you are going to feed more in 2 years then I'm going to feed in 7 mouths
@joeydamrell1860Ай бұрын
@@buckreynolds7475 No doubt, over the long run they probably eat more and you're not going to get as much meat as well. For me it was just for the income and the smaller, friendlier breed for Josey, but like I said they're not selling like they used to, but the 2 babies I have sold made enough to feed Gary and Bella for almost year, hopefully I can get a few more to sell.

@@buckreynolds7475 I wasn’t trying to talk you into them. They aren’t for everyone especially if you just want meat pigs. Thanks for talking with me on it.
