Happy Birthday! I have the same engine. For the smoke fluid you have to pull off the spark arrester from the top of either smoke stack. Its on there very tight so be careful. Then you can pour the smoke fluid down the stack.

Happy Birthday, and just put drops down the stack. You may need to gently blow down the stack afterwards to clear any air bubble.

Many happy returns, great presents. I bow to the other folks knowledge on the smoke fluid but these days I use a syringe with a blunt needle to get the smoke fluid where it needs to go... Enjoy.

On the train you spoke of about the smoke fluid spot it may be best to contact lionel about that if a owners manual wasnt included but when and if you contact lionel be sure to have the product and/or serial numbers handy and they should tell you where to put the smoke fluid at

Happy Birthday! For the smoke fluid, all you do is pour the fluid right into the smoke stack. Check the manual that came with the engine for the amount of fluid to use. With all this new technology, I always check the manual because I have found that while the engines all have the same "tech" installed, the specifics may vary from engine to engine. Some older units may need only a few drops at a time where some of the newer engines may need more. Enjoy your birthday presents.

Happy Birthday Peachy! looks like you made out in the present department. Smoke filling for smaller stacks - buy some small plastic funnels for items like this. You won't be sorry and they work perfectly. However, because of the length of the stacks I would fill them and wait at least 30 minutes for the smoke fluid to settle into the wicking.

Peachy, Happy Birthday. I somehow acquired a small black funnel that came with a smoke unit engine, probably a lionel genset loco. The tiny funnel fits down the stack, so there is no spillage of smoke fluid. I drop smoke fluid into tiny funnel with smoke fluid dropper. May want to check with lionel parts for the tiny funnel.

Think you may need one of JTs mega steam applicator bottles with the 45 deg. nozzle. Didn't see the spark arrestor type stacks your sw7 has. My sw7 has stacks with holes at top. Mr Muffins trains has those applicator bottles. Hope this helps. Let us know if this works. I may need one in the future.

Happy belated birthday! You got a good haul there, that ACL diesel is sweet! I use plastic pipettes with long spouts for smoke fluid. They often times come bundled in packs of ten and occasionally Lionel includes them with their steam engines.

@peachystrains8772 I've never heard of that, but I understand the concept. But being an oil I would think it would flow through the screen. But I've also never taken a smoke unit apart to see if all smoke units have that in them. Have you contacted a local hobby shop?
