Anyone else being annoyed by the guy who did interrupt his story and told him what he should do, friends and stuff. So rude. I'd get him out from the meeting.

Very annoyed, I agree with you. There is always some self-righteous dickweed telling everyone else what they should do when all they really should do is shut the phuck up and keep their opinion to themselves. Oh, and another thing; since the 80s I've been carrying a switchblade in my pocket. I've used it a number of times but never cut anyone. All it took was a swift move of my hand, blade snaps out and the bitches run in the opposite direction. Small, fast speed stabs are all you need and they will come tumbling down. Remember, fast, sharp and repetitive stabbing motion.

I see tragedy in people's lives every day of my life (its the business I'm in). What I find weird are the people who seek out these folks going through tragedy and wanting a love relationship with them. As soon as the peeps move beyond the tragedy these seekers are no longer interested in them. Takes all kinds.

A worthy attempt at a difficult subject and, to my mind, hard to film as a short; second chances can sometimes take years to happen, and recognising it is a second chance is a challenge in itself. Here, in this film, the similarity in the crimes feels contrived, and therefore not real.

This one doesn't end in tragedy... it basks in it. It's a tragedy from start to end. Had to check the thing twice but it occurred to me that perhaps the director was playing with us. What if the young man with blood on his shirt who runs into the laundromat WAS Jeremy's lover and what we're mistaking for the present was really a flashback?

guild79s because apparently there no homesexual people whose isn't full of pain, suffering and death. 99% og lgbt-media, be it movies, short films, tv shows, whatever, depicts lgbt people dealing with all sorts of bullshit instead of anything remotely similar to happiness. It's depressing! "Hey, I feel like watching a lgbt themed movie because my life sucks with all this hate and homophobia and shit" *watches movie* *and watches ankther* *and another* "ok, so now I have to jump off a bridge, because apparently this shitty life is what every lgbt person has to go through"

Right, Omar. The production values are very high. Thumbs up. It isn't correct to say the storyline is "very unlikely"; it's somewhat unlikely. It depends on where gay people choose to live, work, and travel.
@nomotto32607 жыл бұрын
The story is very unlikely! Are you an idiot or take pleasure in seeing gays killed. In a very similar incident, for no reason, I was beaten, close to death. Spent 10 days in the ICU. I am a very masculine, good looking guy. Though in I and my first partner's 1st apt., the guys across the hall, because of something very innocent, they witnessed, I turned it around and made them look the fools. Got out of my car after work and was slammed by a forearm, to my neck. I got in a few licks, against 3 guys, twice my size. When I finally fell to the pavement, all 3 kicked me, in what seemed an eternity. A car pulled up and they rushed to get in and sped away. My partner found me, semi-conscious. He got me in his car and rushed me to the ER. I had 2 holes in my cheek, from a ring, 16 cracked or broken ribs, a broken wrist and severe contusions over 90% of my body. My kidneys were so bruised, they shut down. My face was unrecognizable, by family and friends. Fortunately, my kidneys, started to function again. A brilliant plastic surgeon, turned the 2 holes in my cheek, into a dimple, which is a reminder, every day, what happened years ago. Fuck you Marvin, what a queer name. Marvin!

TY! There were 3 college guys, living across the hall from us. I left for work, long before my partner. Sometimes he would get up and make me breakfast. As I was going out the door, I turned around, gave him a quick kiss and said, "love you." One of the college guys, opened his door at just at that moment. I just said hi to him and left. The following Saturday, they had a party. The college guy, obviously told everyone what he saw. All of a sudden, there was loud knocking on our door. Yelling for us to come out and perform sexual acts on them. I have no fear of anything, but my partner was really getting nervous. As sweet a person, you could ever meet. I told him, they will stop. They didn't. Looking thru the peep hole, it ws 2 ugly fat guys, who were doing it. I finally opened the door and said to them, "What male or female, would want to have sex, with you 2 ugly, fat , fucks." I slammed the door. Everyone at the party, heard what I yelled and now the 2 guys were the brunt of all these jokes. They did not build apartments back then, to insulate noise. The following Monday, they, plus another, attacked me. The nurse, in the ER was so upset, she called the police. They came but wrote nothing down, as we knew the college guys, were aware of who 2 of them were. My partner told me leaving, one cop said, "just another faggot." They never did a report or investigated. The landlord, allowed us to break the lease, with no penalty and I found a nice condo to buy. As we were trying to move, the pain was so bad, I could not help put stuff in the 10' rental van. So, we had just started making calls for help to move. There was a knock on the door and it was one of the college guys. He was in tears, as he apologized to us. He and my partner, loaded the van and went back an forth 3 times, to the new place. Then he stayed and had Chinese take out with us. He became a friend. After he graduated, he came to say good bye, as he was from out of state. A couple weeks later, we received a letter from him, thanking us, for making him a better person. It was another tragedy, when 3 weeks before our 15 the anniversary, I lost my partner, to non-hodgkin lymphoma. He held on, for an hour past midnight, as to not die on my birthday. Over 150 people showed up for his Memorial service, including the college guy, who flew 1200 miles, to be there. Life went on, but I had a hole in my heart, for a long time.

Jeremy managed to get part of their registration plate number, and the young guy he was protecting gave him the rest of it so that he could give it to the police. At the end of the film he remembers his partner who was brutally murdered in an almost identical hate crime, and the happiness that they shared rather than just finding his partner's body at the crime scene (which the audience sees in the flashbacks). At the end of the film, Jeremy has found a sense of closure, because when he was shouting in the laundrette, he was also shouting at himself because he blamed himself for Simon's murder (which he also said in the support group meeting). This time he was able to make sure that the people responsible for the hate crime are going to be charged with murder and sent to prison (or executed, if he's in a state that has the death penalty).

Are we to assume that the young guy with blood on his shirt lured the gay guy into the alley on the pretense of sex or something - the guy with the blood on his shirt was bait? Then the other 2 show up to humiliate him, but it goes terribly wrong b/c the gay guy fights back?

What a horrible movie. So he just let the guy go ? He left a body in the alley himself ? WOW ..
@gritsnsand6 жыл бұрын
This story left too many plot holes. A little more development could have rescued it. I think we are supposed to assume the guy being chased stayed around with Jeremy to talk to the police. In their last scene together, he gives Jeremy the missing tag information and isn't attempting to run away as Jeremy holds his arm. Another thing that we have to assume is that the sirens we hear are police coming to THIS crime scene and not just randomly passing. Jeremy mentions at one point he is going to the bar to call the police, so again we have to assume someone at the bar called them. I found it a little unbelievable that after the violence in his past, he'd go alone at night to a laundromat, unarmed and with no phone. Unless we ASSUME all these things, there is no reason Jeremy would have had any closure, and thus no reason for the ending. He would have been even more traumatized by having witnessed a 2nd unsolved bashing. So, I won't call it "horrible". Everyone has to start somewhere, and hopefully the people who created this have become more polished since it was made.
@debbieleesclassiccreations96616 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply and your assessment is spot on. I mean, the guy HAD a phone in his pocket when he changed his pants in the laundromat. True they need to start somewhere - maybe a better thought out writing process would help ? Cheers.
