You always seem to find the most beautiful fabrics. With regards to the coat fabric I think the pink was absolutely the right choice as it really suits your complexion 😊
@anitajonsson43792 жыл бұрын
Lovely fabrics, every single one. I was delighted.that you chose the pink fabric for your coat. I know the lighting might not produce color true to what it is in person, but the green was such a light color that it didn't even look green and seemed to wash your facial colour out. Whereas, the pink looked good on it's own and beautiful up against your face. I am sure your new coat will look gorgeous. I am excited to see.what you sew with the material you are keeping for your own. I know the designs you choose will be perfect for the material and suit your style. Thank you Janelle for another enjoyable adventure. You have impeccable taste and I am always surprised by the lovely fabrics you find at such attractive prices. 💖

As a sewist myself, I love going shopping at Spotlight with the wife. However, when she has the same problem that you had, and can't decide between two fabrics, I help by saying--- "get both" ----- I don't think I am a good influence for her.

Hi Janelle, thanks for taking us with you. Always love to see your finds. Thanks to you I always check out the "thrift stores" for fabric - more often than I used to. (the system is the same like the opp shops I guess like selling donated items, mainly long term umemployed are working there to get back to the first working market. Actual second hand stores here are quite expensive) Also the first time I heard "my husband Matt" - so happy to hear that and also that he joined/helped filming without you forcing him 😉 Really liked the shots/sequences he made! 👏 Regards from Germany Stephanie

Natural dyeing is so fun and satisfying! But read Rebecca Desnos book first, or watch Billynou’s KZbin! It has all of the info on pretreatment and ratios. So that your color actually lasts and doesn’t look unintentionally tie dye! 😂 I’ve worked so hard before on projects just to have the dye wash out or not be even!

I love all your fabric finds and the coat-fabric is just beautiful and the colour suits you really well! Good choice:) I have a love-hate-relationship to fabric shopping. I love to have beautiful fabric but the buying process is so hard for me as I have a problem with making decitions. I walk around all the fabrics for an hour and in the end, I don't buy anything😅 I buy fabrics online most of the time, but that also takes me several days to make the right choice:D Tell me I am not alone with this!😅

Hi! I just found a video of yours where you made a button up dress. It was absolutely gorgeous!! I am very very very new to making dresses. I don't even have a sewing machine yet😅. I have a little bit of experience with a sewing machine, however. I have a question. It's a long one. Do you have a video where your show how to probably cut out the correct amount of fabric you need? In videos I've seen, I've watched the women use paper, which I believe are called pattern pieces and they're already in the correct shape and such, but I still don't understand how to get from getting my measurements to actually cutting out the correct measurements and shape on the fabric. Hopefully that made sense 😅 Thank you so much!

Unfortunately natural dyeing cellulose (ie cotton) fibres is...a bit annoying. You can try it but you get a much better result with wool and other protein fibres, especially if you don't have access to a mordant. Unless you've got indigo to dye with, because indigo is very happy to stick to cellulose fibres. If you want a really excellent natural dye I think you would really like eucalyptus cinerea aka argyle apple aka silver dollar eucalyptus. It dyes wools these wonderful burnt orange colours, and you don't need a mordant at all. It did also dye the cotton bedsheet scrap I was containing the leaves in but I was less impressed by the dingy beige it came up with. Here in Canberra I was able to gather branches snapped off by cockatoos just around the corner from my house!
