Leather straps to replace the plastic rope handles.
@LisaAdams.753 жыл бұрын
Yes! I was going to say macrame cord or make a macrame patterned cord. But leather would really set it off.

Yes! Perfect choice!

You could actually just cover the rope handles with leather or vinyl and not have to take them off.

8:55 i am from turkey and you can definitely find these patterns in old peoples' houses. I think it was very popular during the 70s and 80s and they're not just bedsheet patterns either; you can find tablecloths, couch covers and sometimes even curtains with the same type of pattern

Hi! What a treasure trove of goodies you got on your spree. Among other things, I love the basket. A thought for the basket handles... if you can remove the rope without destroying it, you can cover the rope with fabric. If you use a layer of wadding then fabric, it will be more gentle on your hands when the basket is full and the fabric covering will look super cute. And the rope core will be very strong. Have fun sewing.
@jacmary65803 жыл бұрын
Hi Janelle You could change the rope out for a nice chain handle or even a nice gingham ribbon but if it was too difficult to remove you could twist some nice gold thread around the existing rope to jazz it up a bit xx

At 5:35 you have some light brown fabric with darker brown floral things on. I recently bought that exact fabric here in rural SA and made long pj pants for myself. I have enough leftover to make a matching top. I'm 181cm tall and sew because it's near impossible to find legs and sleeves long enough.
@judyrobinson50443 жыл бұрын
I TOTALLY love your thrift shopping trips. Its mind boggling how much fabric you find. I RARELY find that much and additionally here in Oregon USA, although we have lots of GoodWills and plenty of smaller shops, fabric is not nearly as plentiful. Or if it is, so much of it is junk, sadly. So you are really lucky to find so many quality cottons. BUT--one recent trip yielded an adorable ditsy print top --yes, with puff ;sleeves that were flocked at the bottom, and gathered at the top! Thought of you! Love that top!

Great video. I needed a bit of a boost this morning, thank you. Op shopping is always an adventure, especially when on holidays. I think I've brought half of Tasmania's secondhand goods and fabrics home to Victoria with me over the years LOL Wherever I go, I always look for Op Shops. I hope to run sewing classes from home (or one of the fabric shops) this year. I'm thinking I'll do projects lie make a shopping bag or lined tote, simple toys etc so that people can take an item home with them from the classes. I've been collecting sewing machines from Op Shops too, straight sewing and overlockers (sergers). I am endlessly inspired by all you young women making a living from doing something you love and sharing it all online, such a brilliant career option! Thanks Janelle.

That blue gingham with the flower clusters is a DREAM!!🤩😍 I can’t wait to see what set you include it in, maybe it will be in one I’ve been saving for!🥰 Your thrift with me videos are some of my favorite. The cardigan turned out perfect, great job! Also, I have a corduroy knee length style skirt that I got on a really good sale, but it’s a size too big. It has front and back pockets similar to a denim skirt/pants. Do you have any tips for where to take it in without making the pockets look off center?

Love the sweater. As far as the ropes go, get soft cotton meant for macrame. It comes in all widths. You could measure the diameter of the originals for reference.
