Oh man, Bro Halverson! Thank you so much for helping me to FINALLY understand what was being said in these chapters! The history, the context, but also the application and pointing to Christ. I can now say that my soul "delights" in Isaiah ❤

I loved this in my scripture study today❤️ “God has two hands and they’re both outstretched. We can grasp the hand of mercy at any time. It just takes a soft heart. It will be grasped by righteous remnants who will live long enough to hear the words of Isaiah speak words of reassurance; not just to them but to the world to whom they will deliver that message. They will have “seen the ensign and heard the hiss” and come running to the Lords army. Not a destroying one but a redeeming army”

In studying Scriptures I remember that those who want to learn will be blessed with more knowledge of the truth, but I remember it was said that those who say we have enough, we don't want any more - from them will be taken even that which they have. I don't remember were it was - but I think I the Books of Mormon ?😊

Brother Halverson, thank you so much for sacrificing your time and energy to teaching us the scriptures. I am learning so much. I especially want to thank you for giving us the opportunity to hear you BYU talk. It touched my heart greatly and will definitely change me as a person. You showed me a way I was searching for. My 23 year old granddaughter , who suffers from anxiety, depression, ADD, plus others. who has been so faithful to the church, and is a senior in college, just moved in with her non-member boyfriend. He really is a great guy. I am also struggling with this upcoming election and am an election judge for our county. I feel at peace now and can be a better person in all situations. Thanks so much.

When you talk about the tenth returning, I thought of a recent picture of that old noble banyan tree in Lahaina shooting off new little green leaves after that devastating fire...so symbolic.

Can I just say BRAVO! That was awesome. I lead gospel doctrine class and this is the part where I fear my weakness will really shine through. I have made diligent efforts to really embrace Isaiah and his beautiful words. This has given me so much confidence to go forth and liken this to myself. Isaiah really is our prophet, calling us to the return to the Lord. I chose to grab the Lords hand of mercy. ❤ Thank you for your time and efforts. Thank your family too. I know this is a great sacrifice for all of you.

I've always understood that "My anger is not turned away" to be God's justice, with "My hand is stretched out still" being, not necessarily His mercy, but Him beckoning us all back to Him, notwithstanding His anger against our earlier behavior.

Ha! « Cruising for a bruising » made me chuckle. Reminds me of my parents saying, « chicken merry, hawk deh near! » (You’re having a grand old time and not sensing the danger next to you.) What’s with the universality of parents trying to spoil our fun?😂

I've always loved the name Maher shalal Hashbaz. It's just fun to say, but the name of Isaiah's other son I think is more meaningful to us. "A remnant shall return" definitely refers to the gathering of Israel, but can't it also refer to each of us individually. When we go through difficult trials, when we are in the refiner's fire, it's easy to feel that there is no hope, that there is nothing left of us, but the Lord promises us to bring us through if we trust in Him.

Isaiah uses so many counter-nature images. A few examples: the lion not getting it's prey, the lamb lying down with the lion, water flowing uphill. Of course, God also works counter-nature when he redeems us from our fallen state, but is it really counter-nature or does He just give us the power to overcome our fallen nature with our good nature?

If their eyes, ears & hearts are already shut against the Lord, then any teachings of the Lord will (probably) just make them shut up even harder, I should think.

How about this: Isaiah's words stopped the ears and eye of the Deuteronimists so that they would not see Christ in what he says, and would thus be prevented from removing Christ from Isaiah's writings, thereby preserving it for future generations.

The scripture you are stating Nephi 16:1 is the scripture of the bible, Isaiah 6:1. The ancient civilization of the B of M existed prior to Isaiah, so it is a puzzle to how Isaiah ended up in the Book of Mormon. Also, no one has seen God, Exodus 33:20 You cannot see My face, for no man shall see Me, and live. The Seraphim were hiding their faces, because no has seen the face of God and lives.

regarding the abundance by depopulation. Let us all please remember that mortals who do such depopulating are still the bad guys and not support their designs. We can count on God's promises without trying to hasten the results ourselves. Don't forget Mormon 4: 5 and Ether 8: 25.
