I think this lesson was life changing for me. I have for years put my faith in the church. I have been struggling. I think I now get it, I have to put my faith IN the Lord Jesus Christ! I need to feast on the Words of Christ and gain knowledge for myself! Thank you for going over the scriptures verse by verse again. I am making my scriptures a treasure I hope my kids will fight over! I am loving the words of Jesus Christ! I love Nephi! I love you for being my study guide! I look forward every morning to our time together. I pray for you and your family. May God's choicest blessings be yours for what you have given us these past 4 years! I don't know if I would have survived these last 4 years without you keeping me in the word of God. Seriously you have blessed my life more than I can write.

This lesson is very powerful. I agree. One concept from the scriptures and modern prophets that has really helped me in this area is by seeing The Church of His Bride. This single analogy has become a building block of how to view The Church, leaders and members in a healthy productive way. I have received insights from the Spirit on how Christ views The Church and us, insights on how I need to see and treat others, insights on how to come to grips with topics I am working through etc, etc. Maybe it could help you too. It has really helped me.

The Patriarch who gave me my Patriarchal Blessing was a native German with an extremely thick accent. He told me that it always amazed him (when reading through the blessings to make sure they were transcribed correctly word for word) because some of the words he read were words he didn’t even know in English and had to look them up. It was his testimony that the Lord was giving the Blessing and he was just His mouthpiece. 15:22 That has stuck with me as part of my testimony for over 35 years. And when my own Dad was our Stake Patriarch, I was able to bear that testimony to others - that it didn’t matter that my Dad didn’t know them…the Lord did. ❤

I absolutely love your description of 2 Nephi 31. Nephi gives us his summary of the Doctrine of Christ, the only sure way. He speaks from experience since he watched his brothers and many of their family members leave the true path. Our faith must be in Jesus Christ, and not in any other person, organization, or thing. We must follow His words above every other voice. This helps summarize the reason so many members are struggling at this time and the answers to help many through their faith crisises. Thank you so much for your wonderful teachings. ❤

Tears come to my eyes as you describe the humanity of our Prophet Nephi. It was because of your lessons I discovered he was a Prophet of God. I have felt his pain trying to measure where I failed in teaching my children or attempting to be the best example to my own brothers, and having not succeeding, after over 50 yrs of walking the best I could the Celestial path our beloved Prophet so firmly points the way. I, like Naphi, know my flaws & weaknesses. How many times in agony did I pray ashamed of my mistakes and my slowness to grow. But even in the depth of my serious sins I had felt Jesus mercy and hand streshed forth digging me out out the pits I had fallen. And indeed I had felt God's forgiveness again and the new life repentance brings! Thank you Br. Harverson for bringing so many of us to the knowledge of the truth of who truly are God and Our Savior Jesus Christ! I hope that many more people will continue to find the way of understanding to your gift of teaching! I am one of those members from Puerto Rico!

HOW do you print them? I also learn better by reading!
@marcitanner73239 ай бұрын
@@pammcewen3512right under the Come Follow Me where it tells which scriptures this covers, it tells how many views, etc. you can click on the word “more”. That will take you to the synopsis of what these scriptures cover. Again click on the word “more”. Keep scrolling down until you see the heading “transcript”. Click on “show transcript”. To the side it will show you the transcript. It also shows the time stamps for what was said during those couple minutes. See the three dots at the top? Click on those and it will say “toggle time stamp”. Click on that and it will take away the time stamps. You’ll need to highlight all the words, scrolling down to bottom. Then hit the control key and the “c” keys together. That will copy them. I then paste them into a word document. You can then edit it so it flows better, deleting all the spaces. There’s no punctuation and some of our Mormon words don’t translate correctly, but I can edit that in. Whatever you want. I hope this makes sense to you. If you have any other questions about this, email me at marci@thetanners.com. I’ll ask my son for the answer to your questions! 😂. Because I probably won’t know by myself! Good luck. I LOVE his podcasts! I learn sooooo much.

Yes, as a 54-year convert, I know Church culture will pull the rug out from under you time and again. There is little acceptance of those who are marginalized and many wards still haven't read the June 1, 2023 letter from the First Presidency that was instructed to be read in all sacrament meetings in North America at that time: Good luck if your political beliefs aren't in lockstep with the obvious majority in whichever ward you're in. I know the Prophet and the Apostles are called of God and I sustain them. Yet my Faith in the Savior needs to take precedence over local activities and policies, whether well meant or self-serving. And I have your wonderful lessons to thank for that! I look forward to all of them.

I would like to start off by thank you for this lesson. It struck me when you were talking about the 4th article of faith. And when you grow up in the church and you only have faith in the church. That hit home for me. I grew up in the church, my dad was bishop, then stake-president. He worked a full-time job, too, so I didn't have a dad growing up. And that made me bitter towards the church. I have not been active in the church for many years (20) now, but last year, I had a life altering experience and I'm now going back to church to feel close to our lord and savior. I've ever started to take the temple lessons. Thank brother for your meaningful words that helped explain several discussions I've made in my life. Thank you. Please keep doing what you're doing.

This time reading I found it interesting that in verse 7 that it talks about Christ being holy and therefore not needing baptism. It seems we always teach that baptism "washes away sin" but it was not that Christ was sinless that he didn't need baptism but it was because he was holy. I think it helps us understand the purpose of ordinances is not only to clean us or justify us but to sanctify us or make us holy.

Bro. Halverson, I love your lessons and the time you spend teaching the gospel. I have to say, though, you kind of trashed Nephi a bit for his take on grace and "all we can do" back in 2 Nephi 25: 23. I wonder if he knew exactly what he was talking about. I wonder if he equated the Doctrine of Christ to "all we can do". Based on all of Chapter 31, it would seem he did. All we can ever do (our utmost farthing) is to enter through the gate and continue on the path until the end of our mortal probation, and not give up as you pointed out. This chapter (31) makes it clear that unless we endure to the end, we cannot be saved. We baptized members of the Church can be joyful that we have met the Lord at the gate and chose to enter (faith, repentance, baptism) so that we may receive the Holy Ghost to help us endure to the end through a covenant relationship. In fact, I believe that is exactly what Nephi's verse 23 is talking about. We live in a partnership (a covenant) with the Lord through our agency and his divine grace, not only for the final outcome (Eternal Life) but even in the process of salvation in our mortal probation - so long as we don't give up and turn away from the Lord. What is "all we can do"? - Endure to the end in a covenant relationship with the Lord, repenting daily (as President Nelson has counseled), and getting back on the covenant "strait and narrow path" when we find ourselves departing from it, growing from grace to grace. Although grace is given to us every day as we "...press forward with a steadfastness in Christ..." (2 Nephi 31: 20), the final "saving grace" occurs at the judgment seat when the Lord then holds guiltless those who have endured to the end (3 Nephi 27: 16).

It’s worth the journey to have the image of Christ in our countenance (Alma 5.14; 1 Jhn 3.1-3)! Maybe to some fear shaving for a possibility of cutting themself yet the risk of it is worth it to be clean. & prepared to meet our divine exemplars!
@LTZ33219 ай бұрын
If I have been reading Chapter 31 correctly, this is both the Father and the Son speaking with Nephi. We don't have very many accounts in all of scripture of the Father speaking, except to introduce His Son. In these chapters, the Father is confirming the Doctrine of Christ (which is actually the Father's own doctrine according to John 7:16.) My question is: Why aren't we (as a church and church scholars) making such a bigger deal about Heavenly Father speaking? Did Nephi really hear from both the Father and the Son? If so, this is so significant because rarely has the Father spoken Himself. These scriptures should be the most important in all of scriptures.

Please refer to the video done by the LDS Church titled Baptism of the Holy Ghost by Elder David Bednar. It might help clarify some things for you. John the Baptist taught that the Savior would baptize “with the Holy Ghost, and with fire” (Matthew 3:11). The baptism of fire happens when we are confirmed and we receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
