What do you think it means to be foreordained?

I loved and so appreciated your message. I'm slowly learning that our strengths and our weaknesses are God-given for His purposes, including serving others and building up His kingdom. In the book The Robe by Lloyd C. Douglas, a character is physically crippled. She is visited by the Lord, and not healed physically. He instead taught her to sing beautifully. So every evening she would sing for her family and neighbors, and they would be uplifted. Then someone would lift her to take her back home. I love the perspective that foreordination is for so much more than specific church callings. For those of us who wish to serve in a specific capacity but are unable, it is comforting to see that our foreordination may not have been to some physically demanding calling, but instead to sing. The foreordination is the same, the worthiness is the same, the potential impact may be different but is equally important in the eyes of the Lord. Thank you for your eye opening perspective.

It comforted me as well! It's also changed how I view so many things. I remember I had a very specific idea of what I wanted in a marriage, and Heavenly Father led me in a completely different direction. He then opened my eyes about how He calls people in different ways, and I was better able to appreciate my husband's gifts. Thanks for sharing that book!

Hello again friend, When I discuss Come Follow Me with others, I am always recommending your videos. I love that you take one main idea (or a few ideas) and then expound on it (them) in beautiful ways. I love how you taught ---- we are built differently by the Lord because He needs different strengths to build His kingdom because there are millions of different ways to do that, and no one reflects him perfectly. Changing the world without large crowds, stadiums booming voices is the way the Savior works much of the time. I appreciate how open and vulnerable you are with your younger feelings and attitudes. It's just incredible to share this journey with you. Thanks for more remarkable ah-ha moments. Best wishes always.

You are so kind my friend! Hah I'm glad it's appreciated. Sometimes it can be really difficult to know the balance between authenticity; specifically when being vulnerable is drawing attention to myself or relating to others. I hope everything all is well!

Thanks for the reply. All is very well in my world. I was still pondering your message from yesterday & would like to get your thoughts about those who are poor, weak, downtrodden, chronically ill, etc. If there are millions (or even billions) of ways to build the kingdom, how do you think foreordination applies to them?

I responded on instagram, but I'll put something here too for those who find it here. There are absolutely missions for everyone. This isn't exactly the same scenario, but I believe it teaches the same principle. I remember reading an article about a good man who didn't find the gospel until way later in his life. He struggled with this until he got his patriarchal blessing which taught him that the Lord had specifically kept him out of the gospel for a time because it enabled him to do more good than he would have otherwise. It's counterintuitive to think that the Lord wouldn't be immediately leading every single person to the gospel, but He knows more than us. It's counterintuitive to believe that even those in really difficult situations would have remarkable promises to fulfill, but I believe it's absolutely true. They might not look remarkable from the outside, but the Lord knows where we can do the most good.

Wonderful thoughts as usual & I agree 100%. Yes, that was me repeating myself. I'm less active on Instagram, which helps cut down on the duplication of comments. Best wishes always.
