When I feel the Holy Ghost, my depression, my ADHD, and all of my worries, all just melt away. It is as if the weight on my heart has been lifted. It makes me feel like I am not alone. This is a reminder to myself that I need my spiritual nourishment. Just as you can only live for so long without food and water, life becomes worse without focusing your heart, might, mind, and strength on the Savior. It is a challenge for me to make a goal and stick to it. I think I can do it, but I need to let go of a few worldly things, like messing with my laptop, or my graphing calculator "collection". They are just tools. I need to let these worldly desires go. Once I do that, it might get easier to get back on and stay on the covenant path.

Ok…I got it already and I don’t want to sound blasphemous…but, he listed those 3 things maybe 5 times then he added in the end “and they can help us do hard things”. I’m not really confused about what Elder Bednar said in one of his more drier talks IMO about those 3 things but, I would like to hear more to the best of his ability how we can be helped to do hard things, is my point.
@michelehale27127 ай бұрын
@@Wasatch_SasquatchI think part of the answer of how we do hard things is in this talk whenever he says "as we go about...." living the gospel daily, serve in the temple, attend our meetings and choose to have moments of study and learning in our home. Each of those can bring strength and peace as we are dealing with the difficulties of life.

Thank you Frere Bednar. Two wonderful points I'll be pondering for awhile. First, "Be STILL and KNOW that I AM GOD". At times I get busy with work and duties and need to slow down or rest. By taking the time to stop, BE STILL, and take some precious moments to remember both my Father in Heaven and my Saviour, Jesus Christ, will help reset my thinking and my day. Second, to make the Saviour the Rock 🪨 of our foundation. I have worked in building construction and being able to connect to a "firm rock", or "bedrock" is very, very important. Appreciate your many discourses and thank you. Paul Morrison, Canada.

The message I needed to hear. God truly is aware of our lives and as Elder Bednar shared, we may be confused by the circumstances in our life, but there is no need to fall into despair. We are never alone! Our Heavenly Father watches over us and grants us an individual 'stillness of the soul' through the knowledge that we are his children and we have a saviour in Jesus Christ. 'we can be blessed to do and overcome hard things'. So whatever hard things you are facing right now, you can do it with God. 💛

There certainly is something to the different regard to a place before and after the sanctification of a place. Temples represent something eternal or cosmic on a local and temporal platform.
@samconnelly76309 ай бұрын
It might be cosmic in the sense that is not of the world. We are so used to this world that something not of this world is portrayed as foreign or scary. It doesn't feel as foreign or scary when you see that we are children of our Heavenly Father. It is as if it is encoded in our DNA.

This is one of my favorite speeches given by church leadership. Elder Bednar mentioned the external environment, which plays a pivotal role in shaping each every one of us. Can church proactively help members in their specific mental needs by facilitating the gaining of motivations to all who lack something to be whole. I need motivation to fight the procrastination that hinders the progress of many of my visualized, well-exammed hi-tech projects. Can anyone give me an intercessory prayer for motivation? Forget the term, I could request that I'm through LDS app

You quote helaman and interpret it to mean “the savior is not the foundation…” I’m blown away by this strange wresting of scripture. Later you even read it yourself, where it says “the rock upon which ye are built.. is a sure foundation.. which is Jesus Christ.” Jesus is the rock.. the is the sure foundation. ”For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.“ 1 Corinthians 3:11
@camelCase-de4bn9 ай бұрын
Hi! Stanger from the internet here. I don’t think it’s that much of a wresting of the scripture. Strictly speaking, Helaman 5:12 does say that “it is upon the rock of our Redeemer … that ye must build your foundation.” This presents our foundations (testimony) and Jesus Christ (the rock supporting our foundation) as two different things. This implies that we need to build our own foundation on the teachings of Christ, which I like because it acknowledges that we need to put in effort to truly be committed to God; Jesus won’t build our testimony for us, that’s our job. In terms of literal foundations, based on Helaman 5:12, Christ is the supporting rock under our personal foundations- in other words, the foundation of our foundation. The foundation we make on top is our personal anchor point to keep our house/ourselves attached on to the rock of Christ. Without the rock of Christ under it, our piddly little foundations would sink in the mud/sand, falling to the devil’s “shafts in the whirlwind (Hel. 5:12)”. This plays right into 1 Corinthians 3:11 that you brought up, Jesus Christ is the foundation, and nobody else can truly be an adequate foundation for us to build off of. The last thing I have to say is that these two scriptures (Hel. & Cor.) were written by different people in different times and at different places, with different cultures and (probably) different housebuilding techniques. They make very similar metaphors, but not identical ones. tldr is that Jesus Christ is the rock on which we need to “build our personal spiritual foundation”, and the use of the word “foundation” (in my opinion) is semantics brought about by differences in language & culture between Paul, Helaman, and Elder Bednar. The main truth to focus on is that it’s necessary to build upon Christ. I hope this helps. If you have any more questions, definitely ask them (not necessarily to me), because from personal experience keeping questions bottled up doesn’t help anyone. I tried to put some real thought into this, I hope it turned out well enough.
