I was 21. The missionaries asked me to read the Book of Mormon but for some reason I didn’t. One night, after teaching me a discussion, they left, and the warm, happy feeling left with them. I thought, I want that feeling to stay with me all the time, maybe if I read “that book” it might come back. So I sat down, opened the Book of Mormon and began to read, and there it was!! that feeling! Which I now know was the Holy Ghost, witnessing to me of its truth. And 30 years later it is still giving me that warm and happy feeling and the strength and power to endure 📖 😊 IT IS TRUE!

How would Mat. 22:23-30 hold up to corrupt knowing the scriptures vs JESUS chastening the Saducees for err in the scriptures and the Power of GOD to preserve HIS WORD? Would sealed marriage stand up to JESUS saying there is no marriage or giving in marriage in the resurrection. I guess it winds down to who do you believe in, CHRIST's WORD or what Joseph said was the truth? They both can't be telling the truth. JESUS said in the Resurrection we would be like the angles not gods, who do you believe? Satan and Joseph or JESUS? If JESUS said the GOD of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is not the GOD of the dead but is the GOD of the living then why do you believe you can baptize unbelievers out of hell in unbelief by proxy?

@@kimberlyolsen9416CHRIST own WORDS undermine Mormon Doctrines and beliefs, not I. You won't be sealed to your husband after death thus sayeth the Holy One of Israel, so who do you believe Joseph or JESUS. It's Mormon doctrine to reach the highest salvation level "Celestial" requires one be sealed to a spouse but JESUS never made a command of such nonsense. My opinion is it is a bunch of lust of the flesh founding fathers of the LDS cult making up things to fill their own lust and desires. Would you allow a 38 year old man to wed and bed your 14 year old child? Joseph Smith made the yea or nay decision to wed the child a test on the families salvation. Today Josheph would be a convicted pedophile and in jail where the blackmailing conman belongs. You make your testimony he is a prophet chosen by GOD. Do you believe JESUS ordered the test and union on one of his children with salvation at risk? I know he didn't from the few scriptures in Mat. 22 I gave you. I was very interested in the church and the family hook me up with the Missionaries. Spent a few months with the missionaries. That I was baptized a few months later. I was going to church, seminary and young adults activities. Some situations happened. It was kind of bad. Then I left the church for a while. It’s been almost like 35 years. Came back to church few years ago way before Covid. First I attended Institute then I went back to church. I love come follow me because that’s what brought me to the LDS church and brought me back. I really don’t remember much of the book of Mormon. It’s been a few years. I read the book of Mormon a little bit at a time. Now we are on come follow me and I really want to learn more about the book of Mormon. So I thank you for doing your videos in the book of Mormon. You’re such a great teacher. I too was saddened when Brother Halverson announced that the study would be shortening to one hour. No more blow by blow account of each verse, no more intense stitching together of characters, personalities, history and even impromptu dialog and the amazing way he makes me laugh out loud. He created a beautiful tapestry with each broadcast, and then I realized how selfish I was feeling because even the prophet has shortened our programs so that we might have more family time and learn to rely on the Holy Ghost for direction, instruction and inspiration. I am rejoicing in the fact that Brother Halverson will have more time to spend with his own family and I with mine. However I have left other podcasts, especially one that heavily advertises and charges a fee to subscribe to their app. I doubt that I will be looking for any other podcasts- they are just not the same.

Dear Brother Halverson, you asked to know about our experiences with the Book of Mormon. For quite a few years now, when I get to the end of the book, I go back and start all over again. I can't count how many times I've done this. But each time I do, "our day" is made clearer to me. This last time I felt to color code certain things... Anything having to do with faith, not just the word, but what I found that reflected having faith. Another topic is how God loves us, shows his love for us, or is quoted by a prophet. There are other topics so I had to add a key to the colors in the front of the book so I can remember what they all signify. I can't describe in words what I've gained. But, I know this book speaks of Christ and testifies to His divinity, love, and expectations of us. I know it is true.

I was lucky. 50 years ago in Italy we did not know anything about the Book of Mormon. I bought it from 2 missionaries because they said it contained the story of American Indians. Never mind they were from a strange Church never heard of. I liked American Indians. As I was about to leave with the book under my arm, Elder Miller asked me the 3 questions that started my 3 weeks journey to the baptsim waters. I went home so excited, so happy, I felt I finally had found what I had giving up seeking. Years later, realizing I had never asked God if the Book of Mormon was true, I did ask . The answer came immediately: "You knew it from the beginning". Then I realised that the new kind of happiness I had experienced the day I bought the Book, was the Holy Ghost conferming it was a holy book.

Since I read it so often, I can feel the love of God so strongly in every single word that I read. I know that I am loved, and my self-esteem has skyrocketed. I love the gift that God gives us with this book, because it makes us realize that we are also gifts to be enjoyed by ourselves! We can love ourselves for the rare and beautiful creations that we are through the words of The Book of Mormon that come through so strongly on every single page!

At about 11 minutes in, I’m already tearing up with gratitude. My son is one of those that you challenged to read The Book of Mormon for 30 minutes every day this past semester, and he loves and respects you so much that he did exactly that. He is a changed young man! There is nothing better than the power that comes from a serious study of The Book of Mormon! God’s power feels so present and Christ’s mercy so poignant! It’s so incredible to experience personally but just so deeply gratifying to see your child discover it! Thank you for your efforts. Thank you.

I have read and I have studied the Book of Mormon. My testimony is unshaken in that dear book of scripture and in our God and Savior, Jesus the Christ! But learning has to be constant and I love what you provide. Your comments as I opened the link on Joseph’s testimony, has helped me with something very difficult. Thank you. I look forward to any comments regarding the role of modern day prophets as we study the lives and events in the Book of Mormon this year. When we studied the lives of the presidents of the church, I remember a statement made by President Snow. I can’t quote but he said his role as prophet was both to lead spiritually and secularly. I loved it, I have pondered that and have questions about our times and seasons.

I like yours over others BECAUSE you are the only one sharing verse by verse. You run errands with me in the car and go on trips with me and clean the house with me.... Then I read the come follow me and write down what I've learned. Please consider to keep sharing the good word of God verse by verse. Your insight from all of your study is what expands the mind. Thank you (and your wife) for the time and energy you pour into these discussions ( that is how I think of them because I'll have questions and they get answered because you cover every verse).

Dearest Bro Halverson, I can hardly believe we are back where we began. Four years are about to go by. Hours of precious truths, deep, soul expanding time that is so rarely afforded to anyone, any longer. Thank you. Thank your family for thier cooperation and sacrifice. 'All y'all' gave that to us. Sight, insight, peace in the midst of turmoil, luxuriously transforming, healing, befriending the weary, needy soul, hungry for the words you spoke and speak. The Lord's words to us through you. From your unique and persistent testimony and experience, to our testimony and experience marks a new phase. A phase of distinction, those who are willing to do more to understand and know our Savior from beginning to end, regardless of the sacrifice. Those who love Him with all their heart, mind and being. Without being creepy, without being overly dramatic- I love you Jared Halverson, as if you were a brother, a very good and honorable brother. All those thought provoking, beautiful years and hours, your ability and gift to share Christ without hesitation... I have prayed for you like I do for my own sons. You are as family here, with all the good humanity this entails. In reality we are complete strangers. Through effort on both our parts, we are members of Christ's universal family. In that spirit, I am grateful and humbled for your lovely presence through media. You are a precious and inimitable treasure sent to us all from on high, (and your incredible work ethic). You have not only deepened our faith and knowledge, you have unabashedly broken us through to another level. I pray the 'new management' will not rob your authentic, sincere approach from those who have made time to hear you out for the hours it took to see Christ with more magnificence than ever. I comprehend the need to streamline, to allow you and yours more time together. It has been a beautiful journey though. Gracias, compadre. Sincerely, Those who could have cared less how long the lessons ran...we knew their worth from the getgo..we know your worth through them. Thank you, again

Here is one for you. On my mission to LA California, in my 2nd area, we were having luch after fast meeting at a members home. We went around the table are were to name our favorite BofM character. Well, I had quite a dilemma. When it got to me I said, I should really read it first! I after all had to tell the truth. Embarrassing, but true. I spend the next week getting thru the book. The next fast day, I told the group that day, who was my favorite. Well, I had many and was so happy to do so. The book has always been true for me! Thanks for all your time spend with us each week. Your lessons are inspiring. I can not say enough for what you bring to the table, except to say ThankYou!!! Many thankyou's are owed you for you time and study. I am at that stage of life where if I try to sit down and read a book, I am asleep in no time. So listening has been a big part of my learning. Bro Halverson, Thank you for doing what you do!

I sometimes feel that way too, remember that through the Savior that there is hope, and that as we do the small little things as praying and reading the scriptures and going to church as well as the temple. We can find peace and strength and the opportunity to get better. We will always make mistakes and we have our shortcomings and mistakes but because of the Savior we have an opportunity to repent just keep praying and trying and I promise you cand find peace and strength through the Savior and I say this in then name of Jesus Christ amen.

Brother Halverson, Thank you for this year's devotion to the pages of the Book of Mormon. Now while listening to the dialog of the Introduction & this "Those who gain this divine witness from the Holy Spirit will also come to know by the same power" Which is my true testimony of the fact the Spirit bore witness to me in the following manner, after fasting for three days and nights. I was awoken on the middle of the third night to something transpiring inside of me, in the very center of my being with warmth and reassurance....to which I kept wondering what is this? Then & just then did I realize a still small voice was speaking to me, not as my thinking, but very different & as I began to focus in on that voice, I heard these words, with warmth & reassurance 'THE BOOK OF MORMON IS TRUE' which repeated over & over, until my thoughts kicked in....to my amazement, so then the Book of Mormon is true, as I pondered upon this thought, then I shifted to this. Then Joseph Smith saw God the Father, & Christ in the grove of trees & he also saw and spoke with them & the Angel Moroni, so then I thought, he is a Prophet, to which.....the voice spoke again, stating that, JOSESPH SMITH IS A TRUE PROPHET...with the same warmth & reassurance, over & over. Which I felt from the very center of my soul to the end of my being, from from the top of the my head to the ends of my feet to the tips of my fingers. Then my thoughts turned to this, then this priesthood which I hold, being a Teacher in the Aaronic Priesthood, that Joseph Smith really did see & was visited by John the Baptist & Peter, James, & John is true. To which the Holy Ghost bore witness to me, that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is THE TRUE CHURCH. Which repeated over & over again & again. I fell back to sleep knowing my prayers had been answered by the power of God, by the Holy Ghost. Years later I heard GA speak during General Conference, stating this that, when the Holy Ghost witnesses to the Book of Mormon, it is in this manner, "The Book of Mormon is true, Joseph Smith is a true Prophet of God, and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true Churn". I was once again amazed, to have my experience reconfirmed. So many times while being confronted as a missionary, about these or this issue of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon....I would share my witness, to which as the Spirit came to backed my testimony in most all cases nothing more could be said. There was a peace and a calm in the room.....oh in one case a young mother and her daughter, kept saying that they didn't believe us, as tears were streaming down their faces, to which we point that out and that the Spirit had touched them. The reason why I fasted for three day, is because it took me about a year to read the book, after my uncle testified to me of the Promise of Moroni 10. It seemed the adversary was running interferant with me every time I picked it up..... it was during the counter culture era of the 60's and I was in over my head, but nonetheless, things just kept happening to me in the way of people who were having their own awakening and this renewed the effort for me, to where I couldn't put the book down until I finished to find the answer in the end.

Wow. What an aMAzing experience you had!!! You paid a price and were blessed for your sacrifice. It reminds me that there is a price to be paid to obtain the things of God, for that which comes easily has no value. And the things of God are priceless so we can expect to pay dearly to obtain them, one way or another.
@TheBornin4910 ай бұрын
@@janjones4550 So true on paying the price!!! I did not go into that at all, but I really felt in order for an answer to come from our Father in Heaven, I needed to do as much as I could to clear the deck, so to speak. In other words, repent of all things or as much as I could do.....so I went to people that I might have offended and made my open apology to them, if I had taken something of value, those were sought out to the best of my ability, to make a restitution. One man frankly forgave me and said that my coming forth was good enough for him and he would not accept anything thing. I was only 19 at the time, and those things were promoted by my reading in the BoM. It was hard to face up to others & mainly myself. I never explained, the experience of each day of my three day fast....the first day as I prayed & asked for an answer, NOTHING HAPPENED, the second day, still the same & my desire for food had decreased & at the end of that day as I prayed and pondered and was much more humbled in my spirit, it felt like a tug of war or like a war was raging in my soul...one minute I felt good about the BoM & then the next not so much. This went on for awhile as I pondered upon the issue and things in general. On the morning of the third day, all of that had gone away (the tug of war), but still no answer. I had never called on God to this degree ever before, & kept thinking about having REAL FAITH IN CHRIST....being SINCERE, all of those things contain in Moroni's directions found in chapter 10 even those in verse 3....it all caused me much soul searching in this process, of course I didn't feel worthy, but kept on to the end of the third day & found myself very sincere & humble as I finished that prayer, but nothing came right away, as I had already said before, until the middle of the night or morning as it was, when everything is very silent. After the answer came to me, I slightly woke up another & went through the thought process again of the answer, then fell into a deep sleep. In getting up the next morning, I thanked our Father in Heaven for the answer, broke the fast and went about the day. It was the day of the men first landing on the Moon, so I was alone down stairs with the TV on watching it & had completely forgotten about the night time experience, until these words were spoken by astronaut Neil Armstrong: "One small step for 'a' man, one giant leap for mankind". As those words came across the TV, my mind shifted to the answer & I pondered upon it once again, but this time as I gazed out the window, I felt a PEACE beyond any description & a joy both that are hard to put into words. The only thing that came to my mind, is this statement of Christ, "my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you". In looking this quote up, I found some other information, that after all of these years, it makes the whole answer even more clear & adds a new meaning for me. John 14 26 'But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. 27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid'.

When I first read The Book of Mormon, back in 1991, I wasn't reading it as Scripture. I had walked to a payphone, after putting an immobilizing brace on my leg and called the number from the TV promo and one mailed to me. During that time I was, also, getting free books from other church groups as well. Within a few weeks, I would get letters from the other ones asking for money for this and money for that. I never got a letter asking for money after receiving the Book of Mormon. I didn't start reading it right away though, and placed it in the bottom of a little closet in the little trailer that I lived in at the time. Then towards the end of October of that same year, I was just looking for something to read that I hadn't read several times already. So I saw it and took it out and started reading. I didn't read the Title Page or any of the Testimonies, I started with 1Nephi. As I read I thought it was interesting, and then when I started reading the chapters that said to compare to chapters in Isaiah, I did and my reaction was one of "WOW, this is closer to the Torah, than the KJV." The first time I read Isaiah, was in Hebrew as a young girl while living with my maternal grandparents. Even though I had attended different churches, I could never quite reconcile my Jewish upbringing and what I had been taught with their teaching that Jesus was the Son of God. It was reading the Book of Mormon that convinced me that Messiah had come and that He will come again. In all that time of reading and meeting with a wonderful missionary couple, who became Mom and Dad, and joining the Church; I had never read the Title Page. When I finally read it, I thought WOW this was written, not just to one part of me, but to both my Jewish side and my Gentile side.

So glad you are continuing these videos! My wife and I have gained so much from watching these for the past 2 years. I'm glad you have more help now and that you'll be making them shorter. Once we get to Jacob in the Book of Mormon, we'll have to decide if we want to try watching the ones from 4 years ago in addition to your new ones. We haven't seen your original Book of Mormon videos yet, nor have we seen most of the D&C ones. I'm glad you have taken a neutral stance on the Book of Mormon geography, and I agree that it's a good thing to have different theories on the table. After all, knowledge of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, just like a belief in God and in Jesus Christ, needs to remain primarily a matter of faith. Knowing with 100% certainty the location of the main events recounted in it would imply a secular knowledge of its truthfulness, negating the need for faith. I love the quote from Neal A. Maxwell: “It is the author’s opinion that all the scriptures, including the Book of Mormon, will remain in the realm of faith. Science will not be able to prove or disprove holy writ. However, enough plausible evidence will come forth to prevent scoffers from having a field day, but not enough to remove the requirement of faith. Believers must be patient during such unfolding.” Thanks so much for your diligence in getting these wonderful lessons out to a broad audience :)

If the church understood how valuable he has been to so many of us I think they would pay him a huge salary for his podcast! The past 4 years I almost lost my husband to COVID and my home to wildfires, through it all Brother Halverson has been my rock!

I am so sorry for your loss. It sounds like you have had more than your share of heartache. I will pray for you. I am so grateful to know that we don't walk this path alone.

My dear Brother Halverson, please do not feel pressed to shorten your podcasts to 1 hour, we hang on your words and your testimony! My family members have health challenges that prevent them from attending church meetings regularly. I being 81 years old need this opportunity to study the scriptures on a daily basis. You have brought truth, love, peace and hope to our family. We love you and we need you! I am hopeful that the last couple of years content will still be available to access, since the four of us often study together and separately as well. And we have content that has been posted and yet to be blessed with. Will your previous years of posting will continue to be available? is that be possible, please?

Thank you, Jared. I can’t imagine a more eloquent message for my inactive son who is struggling with substance addiction. I pray your testimony will soften his heart and open his mind to an honest study of this supernal book.

I'm super sad your cutting your instruction shorter. I've loved your deep dive into the scriptures and I feel like my eyes have been opened to so many amazing truths and I feel like I know the Savior and apostles so much better after the New Testament year. I was so looking forward to a deep dive into the Book of Mormon like we had with the New Testament. I know it's a huge sacrifice of your time but you are making a huge difference! It feels like a religion class to me. I listen to 3 other teachers but you are my favorite because of your deep digging and how you bring home the reality check. Thanks again for all you do.😊

Your story about the guy who smoked while reading the Book of Mormon reminds me of my mom’s conversion story. Her boyfriend convinced her to try her first cigarette and right after coughing her head off, the missionaries knocked on the door hoping to reactivate her boyfriend. They ended up getting through to her. Her first cigarette became her last cigarette. Those missionaries showed up in her life at the exact right time.

Brother Halvorson. Long time listener and admirer here. Thank you for your countless hours of personal preparation, study, and devotion. One comment: The Keystone does NOT bear the most weight in an arch or vault. It actually carries the least weight among all the stones, bricks or voussiors. The Keystone is vital because it LOCKS ALL OF THE OTHER STONES INTO POSITION...the arch or vault would collapse without its presence. The Church could not be self-supporting without the keystone of the Book of Mormon. As the Lord says in D&C 78:14, "that the church may stand independent above all other creatures beneath the celestial world". Thanks again for bringing the light and the spirit into our home and hearts every week.

I have had the opportunity to visit the gravesite of Martin Harris in Clarkston, Utah and I have been to the Clarkston Pageant twice, which is basically about Martin Harris. I am amazed at the integrity of Martin Harris and he is the only one of the Three Witnesses to make it to Utah. Martin Harris was faithful to his testimony and to the Church.

I went to look for the videos on Book of Mormon, but they started with Jacob. Where is 1st Nephi? I think you need to go into detail like you have done this last year until you get to Jacob. I know that is asking a lot but your insight is amazing . The last six months of daily study and commuting with your cast have been life changing. I didn't hear about your cast till June. I also went back and listened to the cast starting from January 2023. I will be done with 2023 soon. Thank you for your devotion.

Brother Halverson, thank you for keeping it under two hours. I love the way you approach the scriputures, but as you said you can get "long winded" if you keep it under two hours. I will have more time to listen more to your podcasts, and study my scriptures. I love the book of Mormon and it is another Testament of Jesus Christ. My hope and pray that this year will enlighten me beyond it precepts as I study it line upon line and precpt upon precept. Let's have a blessed year.

Thank you Bro Halverson! We are so excited to study the Book of Mormon with you. We also love your “lengthy” insights. Keep ‘em coming!❤
