Last night I prayed that the lord would help me see. To help me see my way home. Today is the first time in a long time I haven’t given into my addiction. I never thought I could do that again. Ever. Without the lords help it isn’t possible for me. And to reassure me more he blessed me with your lesson. It felt so personal and has blessed me today. Thank you!

as a recovering addict ( I don't feel that I am at the point of recovered addict ) I know the Lord will help you and bless you with His strength. I also encourage you to check into the Church's Addiction Recovery Program if you have not already done so. The structure and support are wonderful, powerful and most of all spiritual. We all are addicted to something! But we here on earth chose Jesus Christ's plan so we, in my opinion and experience, have power over Satan. We have a marvelous body... something he will never ever have. Bro. pat yourself on the back for the courage it took for you to choose Christ. Now, never forget your first act of courage and faith. YOU DID THAT, YES Y O U. Now, put on the whole armor of God. You are ready to face your fears arm in arm with the rest of us. Jesus is at the helm, with our beloved Prophet Russell M. Nelson guiding us along the Covenant Path!!!

Your Johari Window brought this saying to mind: He who knows not, and knows not he knows not, is a fool; shun him. He who knows not, and knows he knows not, is simple; teach him. He who knows, and knows not he knows, is asleep; awaken him. He who knows, and knows he knows, is wise; follow him. Wise words indeed.

Jared I certainly agree we should humbly and sincerely listen to the “why” of the stories of those who have left the gospel, I hear this guidance and talk alot from leaders like yourself, however having had a husband leave who said he wanted these kind of conversations yet he was unkind, persecuting, angry and not humble in listening to and respecting me and my choice to stay. I just think we should be careful with healthy boundaries. Yes we should listen to and try to understand others, but not at the cost of verbal and emotional abuse to ourselves and thinking we have to endure that. It goes both ways.
@ryanriveland6850
@ryanriveland6850 Ай бұрын
My wholeheartedly agree with you! I have had so many conversations with loved ones who are so angry and bitter and vindictive- we asked her there’s side of the story to share their feelings, very clear, but they were not interested in anything I had to say at all, but instead (As the one-sided conversation continued, without me being allowed to say one word whatsoever) with each word they continue to speak- their words digressed further and further into an angry hateful, bitter personal attack upon me and everything I hold sacred. These individuals were not at all interested in hearing/listening to anything I might have to say or share with them- Because after completely dominating the conversation (where much distorted gaslighting and twisted manipulation of the truth was employed) I was not allowed to speak and any further “conversation?” was clearly over because they stormed out of the room, and I was essentially prevented from having any/all further conversation with them because they refused to have any further association with me to the point where I was even “blocked” on their cellphones! (Unless they needed my help and/or they wanted some favor from me-or wanted to again emotionally/spiritually abuse me with their angry hateful diatribes where they blame me and others for all of their problems-never accepting any personal accountability!). I find this to be more frequently true just affected members who have not only chosen to leave the church- But have also abandoned their beliefs in Jesus Christ -and are prone to using the reasons they give for their disaffection-as an excuse to now abandon previous moral beliefs and to break sacred covenants. 40:06

I am so grateful to have found your podcast--I have learned so much from you. I have an adult family member who has left the Church and is a self-proclaimed apostate along with a Bishop who quit his calling and the Church from the pulpit...and taking many along with them. You have pointed out that we still (hopefully) our testimony of Jesus Christ in common. I spoke to a younger family member who is beginning to follow his uncle. I love him and didn't know what to say to him. I visited with him a few weeks ago and, after small-talk, told him that I love him and hope he continues to build his faith in Jesus Christ. The Spirit gave me the courage to do that, in fact, I was saying it without forethought. You helped me realize the importance of focusing on the Savior in such situations and building on common ground.

I have no delusion that just because I am active in the Church and enjoy my activity that I am sinless and better than other people. As you have mentioned before, any sin whatsoever makes us unclean to be in the presence of God and there is none sinless except one: Jesus. I am trying hard to "know" the Savior and his grace that he may extend it to me in the end. Love you lessons!

Jared, this was excellent! The way we tend to think we are right and that the other side is wrong. Often both sides are right in someways and wrong in other ways. We need to reach out to others that have different views than we have.we need to reach out in kindness, charity, and love. We need to not be so quick to find fault in other peoples viewpoints. We need to listen with love and compassion. We need to be open-minded to the views of others. We don’t have to compromise our values, but we can show love And consideration. Thank you very much for this wonderful lesson.

It has totally caught my attention when you bring up contraries, when you discuss Orthodoxy/Harmony in all the themes, examples, scriptures, life, among other churches and especially within our own Church of Jesus Christ. Ages ago when you first began bringing them up, I couldn’t quite understand, but now I am immersed in the new thoughts they engender. They have broadened my understanding in a way like never before. I’m still learning, but I hope to be able to think them through with confidence myself someday. I belief it will strengthen my testimony when I can master that. I also love it every time you talk about faith crises and your contact and communication with those experiencing it. And I love the compassion you express at all times, as well as the answers you give though they may be opposite the views expressed by these people. This has served to broaden my own thinking and willingness to listen and weigh other ideas. Thank you.

Translation and revelation being in the same pipeline of theological understanding just blew my mind! Translation of scriptures via revelation may look very similar to our own personal translation (thinking along the lines of the city of Enoch/Zion ) taking place through the personal revelation we seek from having the Lord's Spirit always with us. No wonder President Nelson is encouraging us to have the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost. No wonder he's emphasizing Temple Covenants and progressing along the covenant path. I sincerely feel myself being lifted as I heed the words of the Prophet, then heed the words spoken to my heart and mind from the Spirit, and then testify through love of what taking place within my heart and mind. My very nature is being changed. ❤️

When my husband and I served in the Philippines, there was 85% inactivity. I think the main reason was, they came from a Catholic background. They didn’t need to do anything in the Catholic Church except go once in a while. In the Mormon church, they were expected to do a lot. This was very hard for them.

Even now i struggle with sin from loss of hope. And i got here from making excuses for good in dark places. Most importantly i lost worthiness because i made time for babylon's fictions, but not for God's scriptures. No matter how good my intentions and discernment, it was not enough to bring the daily resistance i needed for everything the devil threw at me from everywhere.

I agree! He is so gifted! At the same time, I truly believe the Lord is calling us to learn and earn this gift through individual personal study in addition to hearing gifted brothers and sisters like Brother Jared Halverson, or Sister Emily Belle-Freeman. I agree we need teachers like the both of them, but it's ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE, to read on my own first, and then listen to brother Halverson to compare and contrast what I'm able to get out of it on my own, vs. what I need help in understanding. It definitely hastens my understanding even more by doing both. The Spirit guides me stronger individually when I do both and accompany it all with prayer. God bless you! Don't forget, any person can also go back and listen to the more detailed version of the same chapters from 4 years ago that he already has recorded. What a BLESSING!!!

I’m so grateful for everything you teach, share and explain especially for eternal truths and the compassion, empathy and love you have for others not of our faith. As far as the new format I preferred when sharing scriptures that you used blues and yellows. The black white and especially red are harsh and the red difficult to see with the bold face. The yellow previous didn’t give s tone of harshness (as the scriptures are often a message of hope) and I see how warnings can be in red but not all highlights. The message is what is most importnat I just wouldn’t want others to not see or feel the scriptures because the colors are off putting and seem harsh. Since you mentioned to give feedback that would be my only suggestion.

I love ever bit of the content. I do like the dramatic light with the dark shadows on the left side of the face. It is great lighting technique but doesn’t fit the content. The hair light with the darker dramatic lower light is trying too hard to separate Jared from the darker background. It causes a darker feel. Balance it a bit and it would work to take away the darker feel.

Just thought it would be helpful for you to understand how a new follower consumes your videos and why I think an hour and 30 minute video is awesome. Your channel fills the gap that a 30 year old with kids has not been able to fill since I stopped attending seminary in high school. It usually takes about 3 or 4 days for me to finish one of your videos. This very much in-line with how I read the scriptures. Chapter by chapter. I would request that you add chapters to the KZbin video for distinct progression through the lesson. This allows a 1:30 long video to be split up into chunks that I can handle quite nicely. KZbin is great at surfacing long videos you haven't finished watching yet. It feels like class. It's a really amazing resource. I love your channel a lot. Just my thoughts.

I have only recently found your incredible channel. But it has been long enough to have seen the transition to a shorter format ( which is a goal for yourself and your new support group) but is not necessarily an improvement from my humble perspective. I love the commentary verse by verse and I relish the intimacy of the deep dive into scripture. It takes time to peruse and ponder. There are plenty of people doing the overview approach. Your ability to dig deep and share the details you find makes your approach unique, uniquely valuable. Anyway, you have a new dedicated listener, plus the people I have introduced you to. (Dangling participle- do those still need to be corrected? 😂) 📙📖💕💖

The bookcase being slightly off center is driving me nuts. What else can i be picky about? Hmm... I expect you to change what's in the bookcase every week to match the topic of the lesson. ;) seriously though i liked this lesson. I miss going through every scripture but I view this as taking the training wheels off. Thank you.

Picture on the side. I really enjoy the summarized time with you, however have missed the image or picture on the side of each scripture. I don't feel it matters if the picture continues though out the particular or segment. I'm not sure if the color scheme is astatic to me, perhaps it is to others. Thank you

I'm struggling. My mom is really sick. And I'm waiting for a miracle. But sometimes my faith is bad when my mom does not get what she needs from the lord. My mom is a very faithful person. Why does she have to struggle??

We struggle and suffer because that is part of the perfect plan that God has designed for us! If it weren’t for trials and suffering there would be no need to look to Christ and put our faith in Him and what He offers us! There is a video from Elder Holland that I love called “Suffering is Exalting”. You should look it up!

I wonder if Zeniff's return to the land of Nephi went down like the lost 116 pages. Did Zeniff pray to ask if he should lead a group there, but the Lord said no? Did he continue to ask until he "wearied the Lord with his teasings"? Or, did he neglect to ask at all because he wasn't interested in the Lord's answer anyway? I'm just curious... 🤔

Halverson? I am jumping the gun a little here, but my thoughts went off chart, when you said no one wants to be a project t, although, King Lamoni, wanted to know God in proving polarities or a lightbulb moment, was he not willing to be a project of Ammon himself, to do for him, what he could not do himself, and put him with (ammon's authority) to sleep to know God? Isn't this a project t ? I was prompted to this question???

Maybe I missed it during the lesson but One question that popped into my head , is how did prophets or seers receive authority or power in the BOM times? we believe in priesthood through proper authority. Example, the prophet holds the keys and their entirety for the lords church (so does the first pres. And apostles, they just aren’t authorized to use them fully). All who receive the priesthoods and keys for calling get them by the laying on of hands by someone with authority. My question is, in the BOM, how did they have prophets, seers etc without proper authority? Or, how did Moses get the authority and priesthood ? How? Thoughts anyone?

A question during my study of Mosiah and would appreciate your insight: *Mosiah 9:3 Zeniff takes "as many as were desirous" to the land of Lehi-Nephi and settle in Shilom in 200 B.C. *Mosiah 9:11 twelve years later (B.C. 188) King Laman worries that Zeniff's people are "waxing strong" and starts persecuting Zeniff's people. *Zeniff arms his people with weapons (vs 16) and they battle the Lamanites. *They slay 3,043 Lamanites; Zeniff's losses were 279 It makes me wonder how many people were in Zeniff's original group, and how that number grew to the point that they could overpower and slay 3,000, losing 300 in the process. Maybe there were many, many more who joined Zeniff in Shilom over the course of 12 years. Even if the original group were married and bore children, the children would not have been old enough to fight. Thoughts?

In Omni vs 12, the Lord told king Mosiah to get the people out of the land of Nephi. Then 100 plus years later Zeniff decides he wants to go back. Who was Zeniff ‘sent’ by in 9 verse 1 to be a spy?

Question: What happened to the people that stayed in the land of Lehi/Nephi after Mosiah left? It seems like they were gone?

I have learned by sad experience, that I am not a strong and mighty person to go after my loved one who has left the church. Having participated in the conferences that this person, whom my husband considers a (new) prophet, I do worry that I am not strong enough to have the conversations that I would need with him. In fact, when I was very upset at one point, he forbade me from discussing why he left the church with him. He has set boundaries that I can't cross. How can I become that strong and mighty person?

Sometimes that strong mighty person remains quiet… watches/ listens/ waits… until….. and One day that… until, will come… Maybe Not through you- but through someone else❤️ You got this!

Jared, I saw something in a different light when I read this story this time. What if Zeniff was a descendant of Laman?. We know the Nephites and Lamanites were already a mixed breed. There was a mix of people living in Zarahemla. Zeniff wanted to inherit the land of his fathers. When they found the land of Nephi, Zeniff was sent in among them as a spy. Why him? Was he already a dark-skinned Lamanite and could blend in among the Lamanites? And if Zeniff was a Lamanite, then King Noah (and perhaps some of his wicked priests) were also Lamanites. The wicked priests later married the daughters of the Lamanites and their new wives later plead for their husbands’ lives. There are more interesting events that make it an interesting possibility. Read it again and consider what if Zeniff was a Lamanite by birth. Sometimes we make assumptions in the story that might not necessarily be correct given that we have less than 1/100th of their history.

19:24 quick constructive feedback… instead of taking 15-20 seconds to tell us to look up your old video or a dictionary, or about how there are different definitions of a word… just take the same 15-20 seconds to give a quick blurb about the reference that will be beneficial. 👍

Appreciate you trying ! 🙏 However, the Gods above have taught there was not an equal family or all parties in agreement before this Earth was created. Revelation on different degrees of kingdoms/ glories. Many mansions above. So.... again we are taught not 100% on oneness amongst ALL even in different spheres. In those Kingdoms, I would like to be apart of, works out with calmness, faith, patience, love, intelligence, fruits of the spirit, etc. Everything works according to THEIR will. That hope in Christ makes all the difference for me! We all know there is more information coming. For now😢 We can't have the city of Enoch. Would love it- but we're all sinners trying to BECOME. ❤

We also have to ween off of brother Halverson and learn to rely on the Spirit from our own personal study. I believe a combination of learning from other people's study, and then trying to study on our own merit is a healthy and balanced way for us to allow the Lord into our hearts and minds.

@@xrpreacher6000 There is no need to 'ween off" Bro Halverson. Just feel for the Spirit in his words as he teaches and glean off the words of wisdom and you will be enlightened and then take personal time with the lord to study, ponder pray and obey, then combine them and you are on the sure path of Eternal life. All scripture whether by personal study or by others who have the Spirit to teach like Brother Halverson are of great worth

@@disciplesofjesuschrist2026 I'm a big fan of the combination, but I can testify that if I only listen to others insights, I am missing the insights that the Lord wants me to hear first hand from Him. I went for far too long with only listening to Halverson and others, and most definitely had to wean off of other people's insights and seek to find my own from the Lord directly. I agree wholeheartedly with what you said, but if somebody is not taking advantage of personal study time they are missing a massive portion of personal regulation of personal revelation at the great feast of the Lord before us.
