I was sitting in the main grandstands, the banner was partially removed and lying on the track several laps before Pursley or Larson got in to the wall and took it down even further. I expected a yellow several laps before it was finally thrown. The timing looks suspect, but it would take longer from the time Larson gets sideways and the yellow lights coming on. The sight line was certainly a problem for the officials, some work needs to be done there.

Amazing points and rationality! Although, I do think there is the flag man there at the front straight, in the infield, that makes some pretty large decisions with a front seat to the banner situation. Nonetheless, Larson potentially only made his mistake.. and drove up the wall.. simply because he saw the banner on the track blocking the lane.. and lost concentration for a split second... Trying to decide to drive over a banner with a $90k race car at 90mph.. had to have added some form of hesitation on a track/cushion that was unforgiving. Regardless, great points are made here.

Justin you are missing a key detail here and footage. multiple angles (Not from Flo) show that the caution came out the moment he was sliding across the track and also show that Larson's car didnt rip the banner down, the banner hadnt fallen off yet as yellow flies. the banner got ripped off AFTER they threw a yellow FOR Larson, by a different car. the yellow was for Larson but he saved it, the way they called that all week was a inadvertent yellow and the car gets blended. the banner fell off after the yellow and they decided to just say that was the reason for the yellow. They did not "call the yellow to save Larson" as conspiracy people say. they called the yellow for him, he saved it, then a banner fell into the track. instead of sticking with their original call and being an inadvertant yellow for Larson and thus a blend rule situation, they just shifted to the banner so they didnt have to deal with that. that is truly what it looks like happened here

@@donm921 blend rule is kind of subjective they just go with the common sense of where things would have ended up panning out with no yellow, Daison was clearly passin him into 1 as he'd lost so much momentum. he definitely should not have been sent to the tail under any circustances. keeping the lead or blending to 2nd should have been the debate, i lean towards a blend to second as he clearly messed up bad and was losing the lead, but would have accepted the other. the fact they just did a copout and blamed the banner is my biggest issue

I agree with larson isn't being sent to the back for causing the banner to come down. That's on chili bowl 100%. But what was the caution actually for, the banner or for larson spinning but not actually spinning? I think the caution was thrown too early for a larson spin that he drove it out of. That to me makes it an inadvertent caution on the officials. But since the banner came down which justin proved can't be seen by the tower, officials used the yellow to clean up the banner and blame the caution on the banner. Let's take the banner out of the equation, the yellow is still thrown for larson but since he didn't stall, I would use the blend rule and daison would be in front of him at that time. I think larson makes it a great race but finishes second to daison.

No caution, Pursley gets the lead while Larson straightens it up, but while Daison's a shoe, Kyle is a "boot" - we've all seen him pull it off at the end. I'd give it 60/40 Larson.

The banner was for four laps before the yellow was thrown it was ran over by multiple cars and I'm surprised it didn't get sucked up by a car before the flat yellow was thrown. At most local tracks if there's a debris caution and it comes from a car that car goes to the back no I have noticed that in the big leagues Sprints and late models and modifieds you normally don't go to the tail for losing things from the vehicle.

Banner and track. Loose things should NOT be attached to the fence. This happened at the demo derby for late models as well. Plain bloody stupid. The fence with that much dirt stacked against it allows cars to drive up the wall,, as happened numerous times in that feature. And I saw it on You Tube as most did. Temporary tracks really are dangerous. Midgets a bit less so but only because they the third of the weight of a late model.
