Spiritual Unfoldment with John Butler

Spiritual Unfoldment with John Butler

6 ай бұрын

In the Chakra Lounge, Bakewell, John chats with visitors from Germany, Scotland and most parts of England, who have meditated with him in All Saints church for a week. "We experience life with two aspects - one changes, the other doesn't - the transitory and eternal. We can follow either so, which do we choose? Be insatiable for love. The love that never says 'No'. It calls, 'Come to me, beloved. Come home where you belong'."
Thanks to all our visitors who joined John for this chat.

How I wish I was in that cafe too. This is the first time I see you in a noisy place contrary to a church or your apartment . I never saw someone have such a deep conversation in a café . This was very unusual . I loved it. That was so nice. Thank you John, thanks Phil.

How I would love to go to a little coffee house and sit with John for a while. I tend to be a more high-strung, nervous person. I've begun mediating daily about a month ago. Just days ago I stumbled upon John's videos. I'm not of John's faith, but that does not stop me from appreciating his messages. In another video, he very wisely and humbly said: take what you can from these talks but make sure to apply your own experiences and knowledge to things.

Thank you John. Please allow me to express my deepest gratitude to you. I have been going, going, going for years without stopping for fear of what I may think, or worse yet, feel during any given moment of stillness. If only I’d allowed myself to be still, to pause for a moment, I’d not only hear, but listen to the calling. The soft, gentle, tender calling. My days are spent in the absence of being present. God knows that. I’ve just now begun to realize that with your help. With the drawing of his love, and the voice of his calling, we shall not cease from exploration. At the end of all our exploring, we will find where we started from. It’s a place we know intimately because we’ve been there. We’ve been there, because it is home. We are being called, softly, tenderly, gently. We are all being called to return home. God Bless You, John. May God Bless you all the days of your life. Once again, thank you for giving us this opportunity to be still and listen. 🙏

No doubt the subjective mind of the aspirant is going to take what they will from where they are at in their momentary encounter with Butler.. If anything, do hope they take the stillness as an ally on their journey.

I like it better when John talks about his stalker days; his longing for Christine. If he went balls deep once in her, then we wouldn't have had these wonderful stories of John travelling the world to seek the meaning of life. I wish he would write an autobiography called: Blue balls made me go to Rusha (Russia).

If you sit still long enough and resist the urge to think about stuff you will find yourself feeling very peaceful. If you do that often enough you will find it's easier and easier to go into that peaceful state. Eventually you will be able to maintain that state most of the day so long as you don't get caught up in the moment. Nothing remotely spiritual about it. No need to throw fancy words around and make it sound all mysterious.

Years ago I saw a Tibetan monk on film self-immolating in protest of China'a treatment of their people. He subjected himself to pain of the highest order, and kept his body still while he burned himself into oblivion. Personal anecdote, one that is much less extreme- I've been meditating for 6 years now and for 5 years there was one sound that would never fail in breaking my awareness of innate peace, and that was the sound of my wife snoring. I'd grown up sharing a room with my brother and he would snore so loud, I'd get up and beat him with a pillow at 4a some nights. Suffice it to say, by the grace of god and a little meditation practice I can now remain in the presence of stillness even when there's (light) snoring in the background. Progress. As for the comment about inner peace in a war zone. It may not be easy or even prudent to be abiding in peace as bombs and gunfire blast around you, but as a way to restore some semblance of balance in between, to rest the nervous system so it can act accordingly in the name of survival, stillness has its place there too.

@@randybackgammon890 it's true. I was drowning in spiritual books then apps then YT videos before I finally realized they were all, in their own ways, just telling me to turn away from them and turn toward what is really here in my field of experience, at this very moment. None as clearly as John Butler (ironically the quietest of the bunch). I think the first 100x we look we find nothing special, because we remain partially distracted by thought or seek some dramatic change in state. So it's back to YT hoping to hear some morsel of wisdom to show us the way. These teachings and teachers do serve an important role to keep us inspired and engaged, but in the end we have to keep returning to natural state of being and in time more is revealed. Someday I also hope to know the divine stillness to which John points us all.

@@kjohn8917 @postman77 I am from the middle east. I know alot of cristians and they are kind and beautiful people. I gave up some of my time to hear what are the diffrence in believes between our religions and think about it through logic. First:- If you believe that jesus (we believe that he is a messenger not a god) is the son of god and he is a god too then shouldn't there be weird things in the world because there are two gods controling it? If you think about it there are no two human beings that share the same opinion on every single matter like loving or hating food or weather for example. But there are no contridictions, every thing is well places and makes sense. And why would god need a son in the first place. He is almighty and powerful doesn't need anyone, So why would he need a son? Second :- If you believe that jesus is god himself, that he changed his appearance to be jesus. Then why would he do that? If you asked any living humans if they want to return to being babies most of them will refuse. Why would I want to return to being weak and peeing myself every now and then and needing the help of others to survive and start learning how to walk and use my tongue again? (jesus talking while still being a baby is a miracle that god made him do it to be a proof that he is the messenger of God) Why would I do that if I were human? May be if I am old and want to start over because I made alot of sins but want to be a better person (even though god can forgive all sins) but that's god who we are talking about, he is powerful, rich and has everything why would he do that? Third :- Why would jesus suffer for us? God doesn't treat people unfairly so why would he make jesus suffer because of us? The whole idea doesn't make sense to me. (We believe that jesus was send to the sky and will return in the future) And finally I don't mean disrespect by any means and would love to read your comments on this, and I hope that we know the truth soon. ❤️
