I live in a home built in 1777 in NJ and it has many similar features including all original pumpkin pine floor planks, original fireplaces, windows, doors….etc. it has been thoughtfully modernized overtime while preserving the home and all materials. @moniquebrown18 I've never lived in a historic house but I've always felt like I was a steward for future dwellers. @moniquebrown18Ай бұрын
@@alishafarmer7674 spot on. Even with painting walls or home decor….I avoid the fads and stick to colors and designs more fitting to the home while still modernizing if you will. This beautiful house takes me back to my early teens when I discovered Early American history.. iI was fascinated with the architecture, clothing and lifestyles,. I fell in love with that place in time. .The movie “Drums Along the Mohawk” sparked my interest. it is a love story of a young married couple who leave their families and comfortable life in the city , to travel by wagon into the wilderness and build a homestead.. The Revolutionary War obliges them to fight for survival along with the other settlers. This fine old house is preserved and decorated just right,! i love the old crockery , kettles , and fireplaces. in almost every room .The tiny bathroom really ‘speaks” to everyday life in America as late as the 1950’s, well into the 20th century. My faimily lived in a series of old homes built around 1900. They had only one bathroom without a shower for the whole family. and it was always upstairs. .. .
