As a tigers fan, I’m at my wits end with Torkelson. I know other Tiger fans don’t feel the same way and I understand that. But the tigers need players who can produce. Bregman would play 3rd if he signs with Detroit. Jace Jung would likely move to his natural position at 2nd. And Keith could go to 1st in that situation. In fact, Keith and JHM have been instructed to take grounders at 1st to increase versatility. Edit: the tigers have added Gleyber Torres. So Keith will indeed move to 1st in 2025.

Exactly. Besides who wants poor defense out there in that right field in Fenway. Teoscar or Santander make no sense at all unless you don't care about your defense. You'd be creating a problem out there. I am not trading a gold glove right fielder away and have that go down to sign Teoscar or Santander. If I trade Wilyer sure I trade him for a pitcher and bring up Roman Anthony who is by far a better outfielder than Teoscar or Santander.

On the substance of Bregman, as a very old and diehard Met fan, let me add that losing Seaver and Doc and Darryl still hurts, so making Pete, warts and all, a Met for life is something we should be doing. In addition, Bregman has been declining, and Bill James has taught us that these declines are real and expected. I would not mind seeing Areando as a Met, Vientos as primarily a DH. Make us too, but much better fit than Bregman Well done

Jim you keep talking about Meyer who might come up late in 2025 and keep missing Kristian Campbell who's the Sox #3 Prospect (who plays 2B) and the Minor League Player of the Year who would likely make the team out of training camp if they don't get Bregman. Campbell is the much more likely blockage than Meyer.

There’s been talk of Mets signing both Bregman and Alonso. Both can easily fit on the team along with fitting within the budget. Signing 1 or both, they need to trade McNeil and or Marte either way. Pay down there salaries to make a trade happen. McNeil is the better player bc of the versatility and past offensive numbers but his on field attitude is played out in queens. Would love to send one these guys with a prospect and a bunch of money to Seattle for Castillo

Alonso is a premier power hitter. But that’s about it. Bregman can give you 4-6 WAR every year, hit for contact and power (although not to level Pete can), and play gold glove level defense. He’s a complete player. I agree.

What's the why and what on bregman mets? I'll never understand the alonso contract. They 100% want vlad, no need to trade for him with the contract thing going on he'll definitely become a free agent. Get bregman now you have good defensive 3rd move vientos to 1st, swap mcneil and acuna on 2nd, acuna against left hand pitchers mcneil against right. Marte is in his last year you can dh him or soto sometimes this year. Then next year vientos dh. No need to waste money on alonso you can't keep vientos on 3rd he's not good there at least not yet. Both alonso and bregman are the same age but I think bregman is cheaper, you'll have more money to sign vlad next year. On the coming years once you trade siri or let him go you can make nimmo your cf and move acuna or vientos on lf, your choice on who you want as a 2nd (preferably acuna). Then you can sign another power bat as a dh for a cheap 1 or 2 year just have to find one or batty if you didn't trade him. I don't like batty defensively he's shaky his bat is weak. This year Lind SS Soto RF Vien 1B Nim LF Breg 3B (if you sign him) Mcnl/Acu 2B Mart DH Alva C Siri CF Batty he can be on the bench do what you want with him. If the Red Sox acquire Alex Bregman, it should be to play 3B, with Devers moving to DH. Kristian Campbell will be competing with Grissom for the 2B job. It will only be Hamilton if both bomb spring training. Roman Anthony could be the opening day LF, with Duran in CF, Abreu in RF, and Rafaela on the bench as a "10th man"... Yoshida traded or used as a platoon bat of some sort. Replacing Abreu with Santander or Hernandez would be a huge defensive downgrade. Adding Bregman replaces Yoshida's bat with Bregman's and upgrades 3B defense by a LOT. Bregman is a Gold Glove caliber 3B, and Devers is the worst defensive 3B in the league.

As a tigers fan, I agree with this assessment. Bregman does fit the team but not the ballpark. He could hit a lot of doubles in Comerica but he won’t hit the number of homers that he did in Houston. Even tho the fences have been moved in, it’s still not exactly a hitters park like Fenway is.
