Congratulations!!!!! Saw this run on Strava. We were over on the East Coast down near St. Augustine, FL running a 0.91 mile loop on a dirt trail for 6 hours. My buddy did the 12 hour this year. We started at 7am. I pushed through 35.4 miles and was 2nd overall, just missed the W by 0.5 miles. Definitely was a hot one. 94-95F with 105F heat index. Last year I did the 12hour and hit 56 miles. I run all my miles in the afternoon every day in 100+ heat index so I think that gives me super powers in the heat. (Or my brain has turned to mush from it and I'm just dumb!!!) LOL

@@its_Matt_B_ Running the short loops is so mentally taxing. Every time you pass your chair/cooler, you want to stop. 39 laps I'm going to train for this race next year and see if I can crack 40 miles.

@@jimoconnor8597 Yes, I can imagine. I thought the 3.6 mile course at my race was a pretty good distance. It was long enough not to get bored and short enough where one bottle was enough liquid to carry! Good luck getting 40 next year!

@@its_Matt_B_ Yeah, that distance is a good one, just have to time it right to get that last lap in since it is long. I might have to try that one out next year/year after. Or maybe I go back to the 12 hour next year again. One guy, probably 35-36 years old, ran 64 miles in that heat in Nike VPs. I never saw him stop. Pure Insanity!!!!

@@largeeddie Thanks so much, Eddie! No new cooling strategies this time. I’ve learned that covering up from the sun is the biggest help for me, as if having a lot of ice on hand to go under my cap and in the buff. Lessons learned? I need to find a solid food that is palatable during long hot runs. The gels, blocks, and cookies weren’t really hitting the spot. I mean, calories-wise I was ok, but it wasn’t pleasant to eat.

@@its_Matt_B_ I was impressed by how much of your skin you had covered. Airflow over my skin is the only thing I've got working for me when it's hot and humid. I'm guessing that they must have been carefully chosen pieces. But yes, radiant heat from sunlight is a big factor, maybe worse in the morning when the sun is low and it hits you squarely in the face and torso. Awesome job once again!
