I am merely a distance walker located in South Korea. Most of my routes across the country (Four Rivers trail, east coast, Jeju, Nakdong River) vary from 425K to 633K, and I go slowly, averaging only about 25-28K per day, with occasional rest days scattered into my walk calendar. An acquaintance of mine recommended this video to me. I have nothing but respect for your accomplishment, and I wish you well on all of your subsequent adventures. I suffered a stroke in 2021 and a heart attack earlier this year (2024), so I have no hope of ever running these distances, but I keep stubbornly plodding along. Your determination is inspiring to us old people, and yes, I think you're right: we're all looking to feel alive.

Rarely watch your videos -- life is always busy -- but when I do take the time I've enjoyed them all. 155 miles across the Mongolian tundra...the camera captures moments...and imagination fills in the blanks. You can never show it all and some of the hardest times are the ones unwitnessed. From a stranger, thanks for the inspiration. I found a dose of this years ago on the Appalachian Trail -- US east coast hiking trail. Spent four months on trail. Love every root, stone, drop of sweat, tall tree and drop of silence. Experiences like this are so valuable. Tapping into the primal to wash away the trappings of today. Hold on to the feeling. Keep seeking it out. Much love and best wishes.

Lucky to be able to stand and mobilise. Seeing what you do inspires me to get up every day. It takes me about the same amount of time to 'walk' 500 metres as it takes you to run 20 km. But, it doesn't matter. I will never go back into a wheelchair!

Pretty exciting. I did mountain hiking with a pack but not running. On one trip in the north Cascade Mountains in Washington, my 16-year old daughter and I went from around 400 feet elevation to 6000 feet. She bought lots of candy for the trip but after a mile of nasty switchbacks, she left her candy until a rock for the return trip. The hardest part of hiking with a pack is that constant pull on the shoulder muscles. I haven't backpacked in 20 years but I can still remember those shoulder muscles that I know you felt on your trip. I was continually adjusting my pack. And when you take off your pack, you feel like you are ready to fall forward. Walking down hill with a pack was hardest and I was always moving fast to get to a place where I could set up camp. Then when you finish, you think, "I never want to do this again," but the next hike seems to appear on your horizon.

I worked outdoors my whole life in some of the most brutal country in the southwest USA.I suffered two heart attack, kidney cancer, and wiped myself out in the coal mine. I have paralysis now and can no longer work. I had to push myself every single day. I had to get through the day in those tough environments. Now it’s transferred over to me being in a lot of pain and just pushing myself to mow the lawn. Sounds kind of silly, but God prepared me for these hard times. young kids can cut the lawn and not even break a sweat. I’m in so much pain I have tears but because of life that God gave me I know how to push myself just like you. Thank you for sharing this run.

Hi Eva! Really inspiring video - Congrats on the race. I felt bad for you having to throw out food to save weight, so here two ideas to make your backpack lighter next time: - You could use a 'trekking pole tent' that utilizes your trekking poles for structure. Like that you avoid having to carry the tent poles. For example, if you changed your yellow Northface stormbreaker tent for a Durston X-mid 1 you would be saving 1,1kgs already. - You could combine the same foods into a one ziplock bag. For example putting putting 6 mash & cheese together. You can eat them out of your cup or keep one of the heavier dehydrated bags and re-use it. This would save you much more weight than just cutting the tops off. - Lastly, you can just bring the toilet paper you need instead of the roll - After all the bathrooms don't look like you could hang it :) Thanks again for the beautiful video and good luck on your next adventures!
