Even as a Christian man, I don't care for most church music, but this was beautiful. I got myself a gold tone irish bouzouki, and this will be the first song I learn. Shouldn't be hard with my music background, but this tutorial is a huge help Oh, and I have no choice but to subscribe now

I've been playing music for years but just bought a bouzouki inspired largely by the music of the Pogues and the Irish Descendents. This is a great start for me as it is pretty straight forward. Great tutorial- thank you!

I never heard that Christian tune before it work very well with Irish tuning. :) Sound like Old Time Appalachian Style music having that Celtic Drones sound :) Keep on Picking my friend . I got a P.W. Crump lll Long Scale Irish Cittern and I;m getting a Nyber Long scale Irish Cittern in the Spring 2021 its being built right now.

Didn’t David Crowder do a version of this? Love the drone to the song. I think the bouzouki would fit really well into a contemporary worship service
@ZacFitzsimmonsMusic3 жыл бұрын
Definitely! His version was probably one of the first versions I heard on acoustic guitar. I've used the bouzouki a few times with the worship team at my church. In my opinion, it seemed to work best playing Rend Collective styled songs, or with a team playing all acoustic instruments.

Hey I bought a Hora "Concert" Irish Bouzouki, but I'm a guitar player and wanted to ask a stupid question. Could I use Greek Bouzouki strings and tune them up a whole step to DGBE? Will the Irish bouzouki handle the tension difference and all that ok? I've never played one, and mine hasn't even come in the mail yet, haha. It would be nice to not have to learn a whole other fretboard, ya know? Thanks
@ZacFitzsimmonsMusic2 жыл бұрын
Congrats on your purchase! I don’t know the answer to that question but it seems dangerous to tune higher to those notes. Think about it, if normal tuning is GDAD, then you’d be going far more than a step on the lower two strings to bring it to DGBE. I’m a guitar player too, but it wasn’t very difficult to learn the 1, 4, 5 & 6 chords in D and then move a capo around to change keys. You get more of that open tuning sound that way too, which wouldn’t be there really if you force it into a guitar tuning. I think it’s a banjo capo that I’m using and it’s the perfect size.

@@ZacFitzsimmonsMusic Alright, I'll just have to grow accustomed to the different fretboard I suppose. Thanks for your input

You should order Irish bouzouki strings to sound right. I use D'addarios. The thickness matters.
