I completely agree with you about thrift store prices these days. It’s outrageous! I am lucky, my local thrift store still has good prices but any time I go somewhere else I am shocked. I see things that I could buy new for a couple of dollars more. 🤨

The bowl you didn’t know what it was is actually a chamber pot. It was what people used for calls of nature during the night in the Victorian and pre-Victorian times. Also known as a “gazunder” as it goes under the bed…

Yup, I hate to tell you, but I agree , it’s a chamber pot! When I was a child we lived outside of the town we eventually moved to. No indoor plumbing, so at night - the chamber pot! And I sometimes had to take it to the outhouse and discard the contents! Enjoy the sweet smell from your flowers 💐 flowers !❤

The recent skyrocketing thrift store prices are made even more upsetting when you remember they are taking items for free, and then charging so much they have almost completely priced vulnerable populations out of the market. If I go to Salvation Army and can no longer shop there because even they are charging $25 for jeans from Walmart, where do I go next? I have been an avid thrifter for over 30 years. I furnish my homes and my wardrobe second hand, and I hate to see where we are.

I loved the Boxcar Children when I was growing up. It was my favorite book series. I thrifted a set to have for my grandkids to read if they ever decided to be interested in them. Here's me crossing my fingers lol.

Old pottery can have a lead glaze,so I’m always conscious of that when I thrift. I still see the Shrek glasses McDonald’s released years ago that were recalled for lead, at thrift stores. I always take them and show a manager the recall and they are always shocked. Just some info to consider for anyone reading this. It’s yard sale season Emily, give us some yard sale hauls😁, they are cheaper than the thrift stores!

Hi Emily..just saw this. Yes prices are up on everything. Around here yard sales and Goodwills are high. So many estate sales and so inexpensive. I get beautiful clothes for one dollar all the time. I got four coats..one was a faux leather black blazer, one was real suede leather, another was a navy like new pea coat with puffed sleeves , and the last was a brown teddy jacket…four dollars for all. The faux leather was on The Real Real site for sixty percent off but still 163.50. I scored big. I loved all of your items. I especially loved the denim dress and think you could belt it too.,really cute. I won’t ever quit thrifting. ❤

I found thrift store here in Atlanta prices have doubled in the past year. I even saw a Walmart plastic salad container (that we always recyle because they're not good enough to reuse) Goodwill priced at $5.00. Yeah, unbelievable!

I have also noticed that mostly everything in the thrift store I frequent has gone up on their prices. It makes me be very particular about what I buy whereas before I might have bought something an then if I didn't use it, it was okay.

I love hitting the thrift stores. I am in totally in agreement, the prices have jumped out of control. One thing that gets on my last nerve, is when the original price sticker is on the item for .99 but they mark it between 3 to 5 bucks. Why? Happy Thrifting everyone!!

Yep it's a potty. One handle means it is for using as a bathroom, they usually had a lid so it kept the (smell) contained and also when you carried it outside to the outhouse it wouldn't slop all over the house. Very cute.

I have found the Goodwill close to where I live in Wisconsin are overly priced. I like to collect plates but the plates at Goodwill are sold in sets of 2 or more. I generally want just 1 plate because I use them for decor and not for use. I find this frustrating too. I tend to shop more at St Vincent de Paul’s instead. Also I couldn’t help but laugh to see you with the chamber pot!😊

The cost of items at various “thrift” stores.. especially Good Will.. has totally escalated since last year… at an astonishing rate!! Discussions with the the cashiers and other staff feel the increase is from those who are purchasing for their “stores” with inventory to sell at an even higher price. I’m sticking to yard and garage sales as those sellers are homeowners or people who are clearing out a home for a family member. It’s just hard to believe that major stores sometimes have new items priced less then thrift stores 🤔 I have two thrift stores that keep their prices very reasonable. The “Salt Mine” operates to help feed the those in need❤ And the other store is “Fieldhaven Pet Rescue. The two have great prices & great staff👍

Our GoodWill stores have terrible prices on some things. I have seen things I can buy at the dollar stores cheaper. Their canning jars are $2.99 each and you can buy jars at WalMart cheaper. I would like to know what they base their prices on. There are also different prices at different stores.

Have you thought about doing yard sales or flea markets in the area where I live here in Tennessee we have lots of yard sales and you can still find stuff very very cheap we also have flea markets and you can find artwork like crazy and it's usually very cheap and if it's not you can always ask them to come down and get it down
