going through your videos from the start while diy and reorganising (once again) my whole house..huge project and watching you relaxes me and inspires me to get things to a place where I can finally hopefully re-start learning to sew again!

You're fortunate. The thrift stores by me have nothing but rags. The workers take all the good stuff.

I still have days here where there is nothing too, it is so hit or miss!

It was so nice to see your shopping finds! If you have more that would be wonderful as all the stores are closed and it’s peace of mind... not sure how to explain. Over 2 months it’s been difficult not to enjoy the thrifting.

Fun fact: I currently work at a honey store. A lot of people come in looking for gifts for the B’s in their lives. Thank you for sharing

That bee is so cute! I love that it's green instead of yellow. It goes beautifully with the gold. My name is Bear, which is already an animal name, but all my nieces and nephews almost always call me B! So my mom gave me my very first brooch a couple of Christmases ago and it's a beautiful bumblebee. 🐝 She also gave me a gorgeous diamond bee necklace last year for my 30th birthday. My nephew, who just turned 4, absolutely loves to pick out my jewelry for the day, and he always gravitates towards the bees too. It's precious.

Would you do a quick video on how you style/tie your scarves in your hair? I love how you do it- and I can never make it look right 😭

Thank you! I actually have quite a hard time keeping scarves on my head, I think my skull is rather flat at the back of my neck so they don't stay on well. I can add it into a tips video I have planned!

Ooh I love the bee broach so pretty plus scarves I got one from my local charity shop so I have one just need to hone my skills to find good ones x
@TheClosetHistorian7 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Scarves are usually easier to find at thrift shops than most other vintage accessories, thats how I have ended up with so many of them!

I loved this! Thanks for taking us shopping with you! p.s. Thank you, as well, for saying "toy hat". Although that is not a toy hat (which I know you are aware), what everyone keeps calling fascinators from the late 30s, through WWII are called toy hats. No one ever knows what I'm talking about, so thank you! ❤
@TheClosetHistorian6 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I'm not actually really sure what defines a toy hat, I always just think of miniature hats (like smaller than head-size tophats and fedoras etc) as toy hats but I'm not sure where the boundaries of the term really are. They're all cute I know that! :) The resource Vintage Dancer seems to list toy hats and facinators as in the same category, vintagedancer.com/1940s/1940s-hats/ though it seems nearly anything can be a labeled a facinator these days for some reason!

Yay thanks for taking us with you! It's true, there are SO MANY silk scarves to be had in thrift stores for so cheap!! BTW I love the earrings you're wearing in this video, what's the story with them?
@TheClosetHistorian7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Susanna! The earrings are celluloid with clear rhinestones and I picked them up at the same antique mall I mention in this video on an earlier visit :)

Whats my cat doing eating your plant? I wish it really was her, give MY plants a rest! Your Cleo could be my Kusskuss's twin! I love insect brooches too! I have a bee and two beetles which are modern but work for vintage as they used to really be (bee) in style when I was little (many, many moons ago!).

Vbeutiful where did you buy the fabric from?
@TheClosetHistorian7 жыл бұрын
It was on the bargain table at my favorite Denver area fabric shop called Colorado Fabrics! It's just a polyester crepe, but the colors were too fun to pass it up :)

Do you have silk square scarves?
@TheClosetHistorian5 жыл бұрын
Yes I usually buy square shaped scarves as opposed to long rectangular ones, and I usually try to buy bigger scarves at around 30 inches square.
