You can also use a sheet metal deburring tool, to also get in the root, to get your grinding shavings out from the backside of the root. I used to use it, to make sure my roots were as I chose to not fail! AS I always say keep'em guessin!!

When you’re caping a 2” stainless sch. 10, what amps would you run at? Also would you weld the cap in 4 quarters or would you weld in half’s?? And how many minutes would you wait for it to cool down between each pass on the cap only? Wondering for a test I have coming up soon.

You can wet your finger and feel argon flow but your lips are very sensitive, you can really feel the tiniest purge flow with your lips. Also you can feel argon flow out of a gas lens or just the gas flow out of the cup. I always set my flow meter by feel rather by cubic feet per hour to give me a smooth non turbulent purge. Too much argon can be worse than not enough. Also remember argon is heavier than air, always if at all possible introduce the argon below the level of the weld joint and have your vent point at a higher level. Think of it like you are filling the pipe with water, as the pipe fills it displaces the air inside which flows out of the vent opening on top. I worked in aerospace primarily, so some of what I advise may be overkill but the stuff we welded is in the space station right now.

The only alway you fix the pipe not being level is If you roll it. The only thing that can go wrong there is you gonna draw the pipe in or out at the 90. Or you can also draw the flange to the left or right side.
@Ag1124934 жыл бұрын
How do you purge a pipe with a lot of 90s ts and really long? Besides using bags? I always purge from the lowest part of the pipe but sometimes when im welding at the very top of the line it wont purge right.
@Subway14273 жыл бұрын
Dude, what do your proceuders say about weld prep? Every procedure I've ever welded to, and every travel sheet I've been given for a job, has always said: "all peices to be welded shall be free from oil, grease, diry, rust, paint, milscale and all joints to be welded must be ground to sound metal prior to welding
@dilyantodev31804 жыл бұрын
I like your videos, bro, thank you for sharing with us! I have a question. So not long ago I've grinded a bevel like you did in this video (the stainless pipe ). I ended up with a grinding powder inside the pipe, contamination and failed Xray. So , how do you extract that dust out of the pipe, and do you even get any issues with it. I extract the powder with some magnets from time to time, but not working on stainless. I only had low pressure purge, do you think that may caused the problem?
@VinnieG48 ай бұрын
Be careful for them saw blades. The paint can come off and be on the bevel causing weld porosity.
