I went to Clarion back in the 90's that was one of the spots to hang out before during and after a coot ride.

I don't know if I could do it. If I tried, I would probably be repeating "holy f*#k" every step. 😂😂

I do not know how you do it, my friend, I would be tripping and falling in between the ties, knowing me and falling into the river below🤣

I can only think of yelling, "TRAIN!"

There is a tiny little section of track still before the bridge from the side I started on. But that is about it.
@adriaanboogaard85717 ай бұрын
That's funny but in line with that there's a video with a guy that rigged old Train horns to a air tank on his truck and blew it at the end of a rail trail tunnel and scared the crap out of some hikers and there are not even any tracks left. It's hilarious

I dont like heights and especially walking across a decrepid bridge like that I couldnt do it!
@hikingbill9 ай бұрын
Heights usually don't bother me, but that was my second attempt at crossing it, first time I went there only made it a little more than a quarter way across, to the missing section.

Ya, that was kinda hard to watch, I could do it, but I'd have to ask myself why? Seems a bit risky, and frankly I'm surprised they haven't been told to tear it down or protect it better. Thx for the show.

That's an excellent hike! Disappointing to see the vandalism
@hikingbill9 ай бұрын
Agreed! Sadly it's everywhere anymore.
@madisonwhitley5397 ай бұрын
@hikingbill I just do not understand why people just can not enjoy the scenery without vandalizing everything, especially if it don't belong to them.🥺

The trestle looks to have been designed to accomodate a second track, but I did not see all the horizontal trusses that would have been needed to support a second roadbed. Was there ever one?
@hikingbill8 ай бұрын
Yes, it looks like it could been at one time, but not sure if it ever was or not. To reach it, you walk through a tunnel which also would be big enough for two tracks.

@@hikingbill Sometimes, if a railroad had the money to do it, and expected traffic to justify it (in the future) a bridge (or tunnel? though both would be quite a cost) might be built with an eye to such an expansion (especially in the past when signaling might have been a concern -- CS students may recall mentions of "semaphores" in some of their classes). However, wasn't this just a spur? Was there any thought it might become something more? I suppose this would require a kind of research that would be extremely time consuming if the only purpose were to find out if another track had once existed ... so, it is only a thought.

Is this the bridge that was filmed in the movie Stand By Me?
@hikingbill9 ай бұрын
No, that bridge I believe is California

What railroad used this trestle?
@hikingbill9 ай бұрын
Not completely sure but possibly, "The former New York Central railroad bridge was built for the LS&MS NW Pennsylvania Branch..." According to some information I found.
@sherylbeasley49389 ай бұрын
While i don't know how structurally sound that is,it would be nice to make it a walking bridge with rails and maybe a bench hear and there.
@hikingbill9 ай бұрын
All the steel still looks good, just the wood isn't really. To get to it you have to go through the old tunnel mostly, the other side has a tunnel also but also is done what private property, so I'm not sure if they would ever open it or not.
@sherylbeasley49389 ай бұрын
@@hikingbill That's too bad,that would have made a great viewing point of the river below, sunrise and sunset. What state is this in,if you don't mind me asking.
@hikingbill9 ай бұрын
@@sherylbeasley4938 It is possibly listed as a historical landmark but not for sure, so who knows what will happen to it. It's located in Clarion, PA.
