Lived in Sturbridge for four years ~ loved every minute of it! So happy to see the Old Sturbridge Village. Gosh, I miss Massachusetts. I know I'll never get back east again 😢 makes me sad. Stuck here in California ... ah well. Glad you enjoyed your birthday 🎂.

Just went there for Textile Weekend. They did a gown in a weekend for mother/daughter!Totally nerded out and got to see their costume shop. Eventually they want to freesource their extant garment patterns from their museum collection on their website with the garment photos. Very impressed with their philosophy! They just released a book and have a new exhibition open. Totally worth another trip!

Not to be a downer, but I've had a pretty rough few days fighting off the yuckyness of depression and anxiety. This was 4 minutes and 21 seconds of fresh air to my soul. It makes me long for a simpler time. I always say I was born in the wrong age and generation (1977) hence my username - "Old Soul". You have such an amazing gift and talent in filming Rachel!! So fascinating to watch all the craftsmen do their work! We have a similar place here in Virginia near Williamsburg and Jamestown and what I like the most is watching the weavers or cobblers just making things by hand with so much care and attention to detail.

Old Sturbridge Village is one of my favorite places on earth!! I've been going since I was a little kid. Truely one of the most beautiful and interesting places in my opinion!! They let the kids work with a bit of tin once, I still have it even though the J's are backwards

This village reminds me so much of the BBC series Cranford! Same general time period and pastoral feel :) The cinematography is so beautiful, every second of this felt so cheerful yet relaxing and as a historic spinning nerd I was so excited to see the quick shot of the spinning wheel in action!

What a beautiful video! It reminds me of when we would go to Nappanee, Indiana which was an Amish town. I used to love strolling along, wondering what it would be like to live as an Amish person. So peaceful. Now that we live in North Carolina, some of the best weekends are when my husband and I find the small towns, antique shops, old estates and just enjoy soaking in the history and the charm. It's always nice to see someone else enjoying the past in the present!

That reminds me of New Salem in Illinois, it's where Abraham Lincoln lived for a bit before he got started in politics. It's a really cool place and I love the history behind it

I was just about to comment the same thing. I was an Abraham Lincoln fanatic in grade school, so the summer between 3rd and 4rth grade my parents took me on a tour through Kentucky to where he was born, where he grew up, and to Illinois to New Salem and some other historic sites. It is one of my fondest childhood memories! My husband just took me to Rocky Mount in TN last Thursday which is a very small scale historic reproduction site. Tiny compared to New Salem or this one...still fun.

Dang this made me emotional!!! I grew up going to Sturbridge village and I need to go back asap. The potter is my favorite, he's always given clay samples to my siblings and I :) So glad you got to experience it! I really recommend Strawberry Banke in Portsmouth NH as your next adventure!
