I loved walking with you through the cooking shop E. Dehillerin. I will have to check it out on my next trip to Paris. I love Julia Child! She changed the way Americans think about food and encouraged us to try new things. I think the greater message you have of not being afraid to try and live your dream, or to make a significant change in your life is so inspiring.

Sharri, don't beat yourself up about pronunciation, it's okay! Yes there is NOTHING like Dehillerin in Paris, but I've visited many huge restaurant supply stores in the US. They just don't have the same ambiance, of course! Some of your fans may also remember that Anthony Bourdain mentioned Dehillerin and Les Halles in his books and shows. Lovely tour, thanks! Would love to hear a bit more about your experience with Patricia Wells --I don't know if she still offers classes now but I was once tempted to go.💗
@extraordinarywomennextchapter

I still miss Anthony Bourdain's shows. He was a gem. Yes, Patricia does a few classes a year, but possibly only to prior class members, I'm not sure. Her classes were great. More conversational that heavy cooking techniques, as many of my classmates were serious cooks. In comparison, I was an amateur. The dinner/lunch conversations were wonderful given Patricia and Walter's work experiences and connections. She shared a lot about Julia Child. Lovely memories. Thanks for joining me!

My husband and I did a very similar route last May (2023). It's some of my most cherished memories - just walking around Paris and somewhat stumbling upon these things. We did have things marked on a Google map we had created so we had mapped what we wanted to see and then went to the area and just found the sites we wanted to see. It was the same kind of weather, same time of day and seeing your video just warmed my heart and brought back memories.

Good morning Sharri! Wonderful video. I am very familiar with the route that you took to get to Dehilleron, and it’s lovely to see Paris in the rain☔️The store is going to be a top destination for me when we return in October. It does have a “restaurant supply” feel to it in the cellar area, and the only other similar, but definitely not as historic or famous, stores that I can compare it to are the ones on NYC’s lower east side. Always a bit scary looking though😊Greetings from Chicago✨

Hello! Thanks for the tour of Dehillerin. More restaurant supply stores in the immediate area are A Simon around the corner and across the street, who sell mostly tableware at wholesale prices, and Mora, good for baking supplies. There are others within a few hundred metres that are good for poking around. To answer your question, IMO many big cities have restaurant supply stores (NYC, Montreal) but perhaps none as complete/varied as those in Paris.

Have you ever heard of the civet coffee? The civet cats eat the best and ripest coffee beans. Then nature takes its course. Although I enjoyed following along on your 18 minute long video walk on the way to Dehillerin, I was very disappointed that you only spent FOUR minutes actually showing us a very tiny portion of the store itself! It would have been better to remain on the main floor of the store, as that is where the kitchen items that most of us would want to look at and perhaps buy are located. I’ve only been in this store once but spent almost two hours looking around…just fascinated by so many choices.
