Exploring your neighborhood and visiting new places, like restaurants, local sites, and markets, is a great way to break out of your routine and discover hidden gems right in your backyard. You never know what amazing experiences are waiting just around the corner! Whether it's trying a new café with the best latte you’ve ever had or finding a quiet park to relax in, taking the time to explore can bring a sense of adventure and connection to your local community. Plus, it’s a fun way to support small businesses and discover the character of your area.
That’s why I decided to take a quick trip to Eately while I’m back home in Boston. I had high expectations since Eatley Boston has over 4,038 4-5 star reviews on Google, but I think some aspects come up short.
I hope you enjoy my adventure in today's video and see what I like and disliked about Eately Boston.

I am 72. I JUST discovered your channel!!!! SO Happy about this discovery😊. As a young person I studied French for eight years, Italian and Spanish for two years. Life did not take me where I intended and I did not use these beloved subjects. To discover someone who managed to do so is DELIGHTFUL! I currently live in Seacoast New Hampshire, VERY happily so and I thank YOU for your inspiration. I AM a subscriber as of today!!!

Sharri, just returned from northern Italy, Eataly is in Verona !! Lots of memories from this video. I Grew up in Beverly,MA., north shore. Hi Donna. Years ago I lived just north of Beverly in Beverly Farms. My daughter attended Landmark so I had a little apartment there. I fell in love with MA, especially the north shore then and haven't ever really left. You have access to wonderful and real Italian food, so we are a bit spoiled. Too bad though that people who don't, think Eataly is real. Thank you for joining me!

Loved walking with you through Back Bay and into Eataly. We have an Eataly in Toronto, a very big one, that opened some years ago. Can't say I've eaten there as the prices are really out of my budget but the design is always lovely to take in. As for the chocolates you purchased in the books, I'm not surprised they tasted old. When you look at those huge displays, you have to wonder who is buying all that? The answer is, very few people, and those displays probably stay up for a very long time. Thanks for your honesty!

Isn't that the truth!! That chocolate has sat there for a good while. The tins are so cute, which I've kept but the chocolates, not great.

I love your channel. You talked in this video about the high quality of French food and how disappointing American food can be, even when buying special items like at Eataly. Would you do a video on special, high quality products we can boy in the US?

That's a great idea! My daughter keeps asking for that but I had no idea anyone else would be interested. I'll put that on my list for upcoming videos! See- most of the best ideas come from others!!

Too funny because I'm not a big shopper...or maybe I am and I don't want to admit it. Let me know how Eataly in Phoenix is. Another subscriber said that the one in NYC is fantastic, so maybe it is just Boston that is a disappointment.

Hi Shari you decided to renovate! And thank you for this was nice 💞
@extraordinarywomennextchapter
@extraordinarywomennextchapter 4 ай бұрын
Tanya- good to hear you enjoyed it! Well, I decided not to do the big reno, sold that apartment and purchased another but it had a clothing moth issue that had to be resolved before the co-op board would allow the sale. So, I'm in a rental for three months. You'll see the before's and after of my fun decorating in a future video. It felt so good though to finally close on that apartment. The move in is planned for the end of October. Our spaces are so important to our emotional health aren't they???

can't believe you called your daughter broke
@extraordinarywomennextchapter
@extraordinarywomennextchapter 3 ай бұрын
I'm sorry you found that offensive but my daughter just came out of an abusive marriage and lost everything....money and things. So, that is how she would describe herself - starting at the bottom and gracefully working her way back up.

@@extraordinarywomennextchapter oh.. i just left an abusive marriage as well. my husband would hit the back of my head when i would accidentally burn dinner. or when i forgot to take the trash out before he came home, he would spank me (NOT in a good way). it took a lot of strength to leave, though i lost everything... i am glad i did. i too, am broke. it may be true, but you must support your daughter instead of airing out her business for the world to see! john 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life

Born in Weymouth MA and in the 1970's as a teen spent a lot of time walking around Boston. Love the Pru. Too bad your sweets were stale. Should have gone to the North End for them. Maria's is closed but I know there is another place still open. Hi from Oregon.

I love the North End and you are so correct- that is where you go for wonderful Italian food- but Eataly gets so much hype that I wanted to check it out. And I agree...no one who lives in Boston seems to go there and maybe that's part of the issue. If there was better food, it could have been an Italian market for those in the other end of Boston.

Looks like you're having some nice end of summer weather! I enjoyed the neighborhood walk, very interesting. I was really surprised when you mentioned that you were renting because you are having your apartment renovated, I thought that in one of your recent videos you were filled with qualms about what to do (if to sell or to renovate) because you weren't really feeling connected to the property and weren't sure that you wanted to live there at all. I guess you did a pros & cons list and the pros won out! I hope it turns out as lovely as your beautiful apartment in Paris and that you love it as much once it's totally finished.

You are on top of things! Yes- I did do a pro con list for the big apartment reno and you are correct- it was a resounding NO! I purchased another apartment but the closing was taking forever so I had to move to a rental until it was finalized. Believe it or not the apartment had a clothing moth problem, and the co-op demanded the owner do a major fumigation before the sale could be complete. This apartment only needs the fun things done- painting, wallpaper, new upholstery...the fun aspects of a new home. I'll do a tour when I can!

Sometimes when I go to window shops, I find myself surprised for some reason the stores that I like to buy things from the commercial advertising don’t crack down as expected. My daughter paints and designs many things . We went to several local department stores to promote her products and we were declined because it takes money and a good commercial attorney, agents to interfere so that she could get her products in the marketplace. She needed a minimum of five hundred thousands dollars to just get a production company after she patented her products. However, she’s immersed in getting her things out there without the need to get it made outside of our country, the USA. It’s simple but possible. Ms. Sending you thanks and blessings

You are so right...with the proliferation of counterfeit items, the patents and protections are quite expensive and laborious. It makes one wonder how anyone gets a product to market. I always say start local. Trying to scale any business might not be all you think it will be. I learned that with creating a coaching course. It just wasn't for me and it sounds like your daughter feels the same way. Take good care!

I didn't as I opened them up and tried a few of the chocolates. Maybe i"m just picky. I only like really good chocolates...and Paris spoiled me. Or maybe it's a Boston Eataly issue?? I have to check out others. Thanks for the ideas!

Good information! Yes...no one would put so much money in such beautiful packaging without a good product inside. I think you are correct and thank you for letting me know that this is a yummy Italian brand, it's the transport and inventory that might be the issue.

I love eataly. i am in NYC. Never had an issue with chocolates i purchased there. Were these Italian chocolates made in Italy ? I love the butter and spices! Pasta! Even the potato chips and hand cream . Its expensive but i treat myself when i go into city. Good luck with apartment renovation.

Based on the comments, I think it might be the Boston Eataly that is the problem. Everyone who has been the one in NYC raves about the products. Your Eataly is next on my travel list!! We do need to treat ourselves.

Yes, I find all American foods have too much sugar! In Australia we notice it if anyone goes to the US they are shocked by the sugar and size of the portions. Thats disappointing. I love boxes & tins. Never judge a book by its cover as they say.

@extraordinarywomennextchapter 4 ай бұрын
You are so right!! But I love the tins the mediocre chocolate came in, so maybe a good reminder. About portion sizes, it is a condition no more. Since covid every company as had to cut corners- and restaurants have cut portion size, which is a good thing. I wish they'd cut out the sugar!@!

If you want to eat Italian food in Boston go to the North End. The store you visited is for tourists only. Very expensive and not very good.

I couldn't agree more! It could have been fabulous though, and could have been an amazing food resource for those living in the back bay/south end. If only the Eataly leaders would ask for our opinions!
