Is there a limit to how many slots you are offering? Also, if I pay the deposit but also want to pay for my own room, would I need to pay for the single room rate at the time of paying for the deposit?
@WorldofAntiquity
@WorldofAntiquity 4 ай бұрын
@@Jonnygurudesigns We have a cap of 28 people. And yes, if you want a room to yourself, you would need to pay the single room supplement. However, this applies only to the hotels. On the boat, you would need to room with someone else, because the boat isn't big enough for single occupancies.

@@williamwilson6499 While these exclusive VIP luxury two-week tours are usually costly due to operational expenses, this one is offered at incredibly competitive rates. In my 3-unit ancient history studies for the last two years of high school in NSW Australia in 1994-1995 (3-unit was the most advanced course available, an extension to the 2-unit course for what was then the Higher School Certificate and calculation of the TER - tertiary entrance rank - which has all changed since then, I believe) we studied the reign of Hatshepsut, and I remember learning about the temple at Karnak amongst many other things. Quick correction, as someone seems to have provided a duff image. The Movenpick Aswan, actually shows the Sofitel Old Cataract. Interesting idea, (sadly too expensive for my pay grade, the usual North American thing of not including international flights is a bit of a bummer) especially visiting Nekhen and Gebel es Silsila. When visiting the Kings' Valley, as you're concentrating on the Empire, might be worth seeing if you can arrange special access to KV34, the tomb of Thothmoses III, which has been closed for restoration and renewal of the stairs and walkways for the last few years. Not one of the brightly painted tombs, that post date Thothmoses IV (& his only has 2 painted walls, but a couple of hugely important graffiti), but the earliest tomb that opens to visitors, and a stark contrast with his status as "the Bronze Age Napoleon". Horemheb's KV57, which only intermittently opens to the public would be another good one, as it was the first attempt to decorate a KV tomb in raised relief and, as it was unfinished, shows every stage of the decorating process. Nice to see the private tombs of the Theban Necropolis getting a look in; so many people get annoyed that they don't see the "daily life" scenes, when only visiting the Kings' and Queens' Valleys; some of the Dynasty XVIII artwork is exquisite. Do try to fit in Deir el Medina, which was home to the workmen who carved and decorated the KV tombs. They were an extraordinarily literate group for their times, and the 1000s of ostraca they left make this the best recorded ancient population thus far known. Regardless, I wish you luck with this and I'm sure everyone partaking will have both an enjoyable and informative trip.

When I was around 35 I had a bit of money from selling my house, and I knew I might never get another chance, so I asked my friend (who was then my future partner) to go with me to Egypt. We spent a year researching and planning it, and by the time we went he was my partner, and it WAS the trip of a lifetime. I knew I might never be able to do anything like it again, so I savored every minute! He and I also spent many great years together. I never have been able to travel like that again, so I'm so incredibly glad that I grabbed that chance! It was the highlight of my life! I would love so much to go on this trip too. To see the south again, which was by far my favorite part, and revisit Abydos. And to see may places we didn't see last time. I wish I could do it, but I'll have to be content watching the videos, and imagining I'm with them. I wish them all a wonderful trip. There is no place on earth as magical as southern Egypt!

It's magical! Do go if you can. I see others who have been agree with me that for what you get, the price is very good. The meals for 1 week on board the boat will be included. And even from N America, I doubt the airfare would be much more than around $1500. It could even be less than that. I'd go in a heartbeat if I had not just bought a car for $12,000. Yes. It's a dream come true. And having been there I can confirm it's a good price for an all inclusive luxury trip. Normally tips alone for the whole trip would be very costly. Every step you take you are dogged by people asking you "Baksheesh? Baksheesh?", which means alms, or charity, but also tips. Here you will be protected from that, for the most part, although you will still hear it! Normally your tour guide and egyptologist (whether this is 2 people or combined in 1 person), would recieve a very large tip, for their very large time committment, and the fact that all Egyptian tour guides must attend 2 years of college to become a licenced guide.

Hi, I know its not related on the subject to hand but I have a question / suggestion regards the great pyramid. The so called queens chamber and its shafts that don't reach the outside. Could it be as simple as the original pyramid design was enlarged so they abandoned the queens chamber built instead the kings chamber and the shafts were plugged and forgotten. It seems to me to be a lot simpler explanation than all the weird ideas you see on some u tube videos. Could you maybe consider this in one of your future features. Thanks,

Ask her to read my reply to the last comment. The comment of krcmaine. Or better yet ask her to read all the comments up to yours. The people who have been there, including me, have all given their approval of the price and the itinerary. The itinerary is spectacular! And the south of Egypt is magical! I would not miss this for the world if I could lay my hands on the money. Sadly I just bought a car with my last $12,000. If only I'd gotten a cheaper one! Your wife is a very lucky woman to have a husband who wants her to join him, and have a magical trip like this one. I can only wish for the same. I sincerely hope the 2 of you do go. You will never regret it! Take along a thin white scarf for each of you, about 3 feet by 3 feet (or a bit less). It matches all clothing, male or female. It can be used as a hat and as a protector of shoulders and arms from the sun, but can also be stuffed in a pocket when not needed, or tied onto a belt, beltloop, purse strap, etc. Of everything I took with me to Egypt, that cheap white scarf was by far the most useful thing of all! They can also be bought in the outdoor markets there, or souks, for just pennies, if you get a chance to go to one. The least useful thing I took was a bottle of Gran Marnier Liquor. It never got drank, and I lugged it around Egypt for 3 weeks, only to break it all over our souvenirs, right on our doorstep, when returning home! The memories you will have of that magical place will be so incredible! Tell your wife for me that she will never regret it!

Today one can simply come to online channels like this - or go to channels on cable television - to see docos about the world and nature etc.. = yet it was not always so folks. When I was young there was no cable television with channels like NatGeo etc. - and there was no internet as today. What there used to be for people who could not travel around the world to places was = _"travelogues"._ A travelogue would come to your local town at some arena or whatever and you would pay to go watch narrated films of wondrous places around the world. Think the movie _"News of the World"_ whereas an orator traveled around to rural towns and people paid to be informed of what was reflected in newspapers of the time. Times change - which is fine of course. Enjoy that you can simply log on to see many things you might not otherwise be able to do. This is how one not only learns about the wonders of the world = they learn......

I am wondering how big a group this is. It sounds great, I have already been on a Road Scholar trip to many of these spots and learned a lot. I this about the same size.?

They say money doesn’t buy happiness but that’s not true. That trip would make me very happy indeed if I had lots of spare cash and two free weeks.

And if you reserve before Feb 1st - one bonus night aboard an Alpha Centurian space ship where you will travel to a far off planet, build a pyramid and mess with their ancient history.

This is off-topic, but I was thinking that when large 3 or 4 foot blocks are next to each other and the seams fit so tightly, is it possible that they were cut from a larger excavated block like the unfinished obelisk and thats why they fit so precisely? If they excavated a block that was 60 feet long, and you cut it into roughly 3 foot pieces and built a wall out of 20 blocks. The seams would match perfectly.
