I loved this story! True friends and partners will stay with you and uplift you in good and especially bad times. Please know that a disability, an illness, etc does not deter the ones that genuinely love you. When my fiancé got sick with cancer he was rightfully sad, confused, and he said he felt embarrassed of me seeing him as the cancer progressed. I saw him fight, I saw him be strong for his friends and family, I saw him as the strongest and most inspiring man I had ever seen. I loved caring for him, I loved our banter and being able to cheer him on, I loved his hugs, his smile… I felt more in love with him as I was honored that he let me accompany him in his journey. He could have easily been sad and depressed his whole life, and chosen not to marry or date the girl who was with him at the time, but he decided life was still worth living. I would have cared for my husband if he ever had something tragic happen. I would have absolutely stuck by his side. Unfortunately, I was the one who ended up disabled and he left me in a heartbeat for someone who was supposed to be a friend. Some people dont have it in them, I guess. This girl is a keeper and I wish these two all the best. They now have one of the craziest first (or third?) date stories!

A much higher percentage of men leave their sick/disabled partners than the percentage of woman who leave 😢

No one is immune from tragedy…the important part is how you interpret that tragedy and use it to carry forward as a stronger person. Amazing story!

What an amazing story of perseverance of humor, humanity. He could have decided to be bitter and angry and he didn't let tragedy ruin his life. She never gave up either. Life doesn't always have what we planned but something better.
