I was married 18 years and always knew I would push him around in a wheel chair if I had to. Then I needed a kidney transplant, he never offered to be tested as a match and left me for a younger woman after telling me I "took too long to get better " (ps I went back to work after 8 weeks) I'm so glad that some people really love each other no matter what, that's rare. ❤️

Thank you for mentioning grief while recovering. Often these stories describe the "road to revocery" as a smooth, upwards motion. But in my experience, where there is loss, there is grief, not to mention all the physical pain related to injury and recovery. It takes strength to go through rehabilitation with the grief, through the grief and not ignoring it. And its always, always worth it! edit:spelling

I loved this story! True friends and partners will stay with you and uplift you in good and especially bad times. Please know that a disability, an illness, etc does not deter the ones that genuinely love you. When my fiancé got sick with cancer he was rightfully sad, confused, and he said he felt embarrassed of me seeing him as the cancer progressed. I saw him fight, I saw him be strong for his friends and family, I saw him as the strongest and most inspiring man I had ever seen. I loved caring for him, I loved our banter and being able to cheer him on, I loved his hugs, his smile… I felt more in love with him as I was honored that he let me accompany him in his journey. It helped us grow closer and solidify our relationship. Sadly, he passed away, but I would not have changed anything about our story.

I'm used to hearing tabloidy stories from Inside Edition - not that I don't love them too - but this was a nice change. What an inspiring story. He could have easily been sad and depressed his whole life, and chosen not to marry or date the girl who was with him at the time, but he decided life was still worth living. Reminds me a lot of the story of Teddy Pendergrass, another entertainer paralyzed at the height of his fame, but who still made music for decades after, bringing joy to all. Would be great to see Netflix give this guy a comedy special.

Your story is amazing, and even if you're accepting your paraplegia now, you might be curious to know if stem cell therapy could help you walk again. A friend of mine had a spinal stroke in May of last year and has been receiving stem-cell therapy down in Argentina with positive-if slow-results. Regardless, your story is inspirational and I hope to hear of more successes from you.

They're so adorably suited for each other. I've always been a believer that things DO happen for a reason...even the tough ones. Life's one big lesson after another for worse or better outcomes....and that Karma and what you put out in the universe, you most definitely get back. What a brilliant couple who's totally deserving of breeding little amazing humans haha. I'm totally his fan now.

Mad respect for this man! I never heard of him till now but the fact he is not just depressed and laying around waiting to die because he can't walk and is making it funny to help himself and other people laugh is very admirable!! Way to go man!!

Had a customer heal form the wheelchair through Scuba and regained a life he never thought possible. Out of wheelchair off pain meds and became a Scuba instructor. Something about the weigh of the water at depth pushing his body back together through the pressure. It can say for me it helped my TMJ unexpectedly after many years of suffering. Plan on doing somemore Scuba to see if it could help my hips from a car accident. Almost healed now but maybe that last little bit might get better. Blessings for your recovery

I love your relationship…my husband was paralyzed from his waist down and most everyone tried to talk me out of spending my life with him…he and I had a relationship that sounds like you two…we laughed a lot we worked hard …raised a family…as the years moved on and others got divorced or grew apart we stuck like glue…we were married 46 years …as I look back at the good and the bad I feel so Blessed to have spent my life with the kindest funniest man I ever knew…God Bless you both and may God and His Magnificent Son be with you both Always…🙏🏻💙🙏🏻

I would have cared for my husband if he ever had something tragic happen. I would have absolutely stuck by his side. Unfortunately, I was the one who ended up disabled and he left me in a heartbeat for someone who was supposed to be a friend. Some people dont have it in them, I guess. This girl is a keeper and I wish these two all the best. They now have one of the craziest first (or third?) date stories!
