I remember that tornado hitting downtown Nashville back in 1997. Myself I was in Los Angeles on a business trip and my mom called me. She was a chief nurse at the sheriff's Justice Center right downtown where it hit. She told me some wild stories about her and a bunch of the officers at the jail trying to close the back door because it kept swinging open by itself because of the wind. And yes. She said it sounded just like a freight train.
@Trijem

Okay let me get this straight, a sheriff's Justice center, that needs a medical team, that needs a chief nurse. Is that not a little bit extravagant? Or embellishments?

@@Trijem I'm not trying to insult you at all... But you must clearly live in an area where you consider 10,000 people as a "Small Town"... If you combine all the major towns in my area you BARELY get 9,000... If you even get that...

I had only heard about tornadoes sounding like freight trains until last months hurricane, three blocks east of my house is a set of train tracks that has 3-4 freight trains everyday, we received a tornado warning and about twenty minutes later I thought I heard the afternoon train, the next day I found out a tornado touched down about 50 yards to the other side of the railroad tracks. Now I'm a believer!

I had an aunt and uncle like that. We used to speculate about them ... then I went to spend a couple of weeks with them. It was worse than anything we imagined. And fall out of our chairs funnier. And yes, we felt guilt. But the evening ritual of sitting on the porch, watching grass grow gets a little boring. Isn't that why we have relatives? Right?
