Ironically, if he was naturally funny, he would be self deprecating about the whole thing. Like, Bobby Lee doesn't get every reference or story or joke and he even plays that up for laughs. Joe just has the mind of a gorilla, incapable of having self awareness through a comedic lens. He just silently sits there slack jawed as jokes literally go over his head. Thank god he won the lottery appealing to the lowest common bros in America talking about conspiracies because he'd be absolutely fucked otherwise.

Joe is not naturally funny but he has a huge podcast audience. He has his comedy friends on but Most of his podcast is about serious topics, and straight guests from all walks of life. Joe seems to care more about being knowledgeable than funny. I think Joe is like this because he has been attacked and misrepresented by mainstream media several times. He knows the deep state tried to take him down a few times like during covid. I think thats why he focuses on serious topics, and he asks Jamie to confirm things all the time on the internet.

What is the joke here exactly? That people can take advantage of Joe just for clout? That's... Okay I guess, is that funny?
@sleepshouter50174 ай бұрын
@@tiagodelgado1214 It’s more of a joke at Shane’s own expense, that was the idea as Shane himself explained after that. Shane says something so absurdly arrogant that it really shouldn’t be taken as anything other than a joke, because who the fuck would actually be like “yeah I’ll just take advantage of you!” Only a comedian who is insecure would default to feeling offense at something like that, especially from a fellow comedian. However, I think in Rogan’s case he wasn’t offended, just oblivious.

When Jeff Garlin was saying comedians who mime like that are automatically not funny, there’s one that came to mind who’s hilarious and underrated - Lee Evans. One of the great British comedians.
@thagrammarnazi4 ай бұрын
But with Evans there’s sooo many jokes that the physical comedy is almost a break for the audience, with Rogan the physical comedy IS the punchline, each writing process is just him trying to figure out how to build up to a hilarious air humping bit
@stringbender35 ай бұрын
It’s not that he doesn’t get the jokes. He refuses to take the joke. Bc he is thinking about it more practically. Especially when it has to do with himself, bears or chimps, weed or psychedelics, UFOs or aliens. Fighting/ combat sports Or diet and health and fitness. Or holding in pee. He usually either denies and ignores jokes completely, or he over exaggerates a laugh and how funny it is.

Funniest thing I witness on the JRE podcast is how often Rogan considers himself a true actual COMEDIAN. He lumps himself in with the absolute greatest of all time and gives advice to the already better than him comedians. Rogan is definitely not funny live, every time he’s been at a show where I went to see another comic, he rarely gets any big laughs. He should be content with being a multi multi million dollar podcaster.
@adamimberti69485 ай бұрын
What I find funny is when he talks about how dilligent he is about his writing process. How he labours over the structure of his jokes every night for months to flesh them out and keep adding tags until he get them just right. And how satisfying it is when it finally comes together and starts hitting right. All that to yell some shallow dive into some generic topic at the audience and tag it with dicks.
