I love the twins so much. ;w; Taako really did lose everything when his memories were taken from him. His sister and the other half of his soul and heart, an Elven lifetime of arcane studies and his vast knowledge of magic and power, his brilliant mind and intellect... He got shattered and picked apart, and the remaining pieces tried to somehow be a functioning person without even realising how much was missing. With the obvious exception of Davenport, Taako really did lose the most. Gotta appreciate how Justin can just look at his early-game choice to make Taako a dimwit and go "Okay, but how can I turn this character trait into an emotional sucker punch?" haha, wow. :'D This episode gets me every time, I love it so much.

Griffin has proven how powerful dnd can be as a medium for story telling. The players were not only witnessing, but experiencing and participating in major events before knowing the full effect of what they were doing. This allows the players to feel responsible for their actions after the reveal

honestly, im not sure if im emotionally ready to listen to this again, but i just wanted to say how much this impacted me. on the off chance that the mcelroys ever check these comments on these for some reason. i genuinely cant even think about lup without immediately crying. just hearing griffins voice as he says "when people talk about that day" makes my eyes wet, and my heart constrict. hearing the intro, without anything else, is enough to make me cry. reading the comics, and seeing the red robe strewn over a skeleton, holding the umbrella is enough to make me start crying. seeing lucretia first meet them on the moonbase made me cry. i had to stop listening for a while before i could work up the energy to start on the micro stories, even while knowing they wouldnt be as heartwrenching as this.

Idk if I have the timeline right for Merle but it makes sense that merle would be a “dead beat dad” and have had a horrible marriage bc before that he wanted fun and adventure and change. He didn’t wanna settle down, he wasn’t meant for that but at least he settled down on the beach still. It’s sad that him losing his memory would force him to live in normalcy like that though.

Late response but at least part of the reason they didn't go super into it is because Griffin controls Kravitz and probably didn't want to go too in-depth on roleplaying a romance with his brother's character.
