Watch The Blues Brothers give a back-to-back performance on two classic songs: Everybody Needs Somebody to Love and Sweet Home Chicago
From "The Blues Brothers": when brothers Joe and Jake Elwood discover the orphanage in which they were raised is destined to be forecloseed, the pair set out on "a mission from God" to raise the $5000 needed to pay the orphanage's property tax bill. Deciding that the best way to do it is to reunite their old R&B band, the brothers encounter a homicidal "mystery woman" (Carrie Fisher), Neo-Nazis, and a country and western band - all while being relentlessly pursued by the police.

not in the same genre, but to me it's one of those rare movies that encapsulates so many genres. I think of Swayze's "Ghost" being part comedy, romance, thriller. The Blues Brothers ropes in action, comedy, musical. it seems the art of Hollywood taking a risk and giving us something artistic is long gone.

Cab's Magical transformation to "Back in the Day" and Aretha wearing her slippers in the diner, and John's cartwheel I could go on longer than the movie's run time! This was back when Horriblewood actually produced GOOD movies that EVERYONE wanted to watch. This is one of the greatest Musicals of ALL TIME! Thank you, Producers, Writers, Stars AND Crew, especially the shot of the crew at the end was genuine CLASS! As a matter of fact, I'm going to rewatch the movie right dang now!!! Haw, Haw, Haw, Haw! still my favorite movie ever. They never make movies like this anymore..cause they can't...they don't have actors with natural charisma and character like these guys have. Man, I miss that time!

I remember seeing this movie at the end of 1980 (Hollywood movies were always a few months late in India). Everyone was hooting and hollering inside the theater. The ushers had to stop people from dancing in the aisles. It's one of those rare movies that would keep getting a re-run in Bombay. And we'd go again and again. Saw it on the big screen at least 4 times. :)))

My sister took me to see the Blues Brothers when it first came out. I had never really heard the blues before. Love at first listen.

My favorite movie. My favorite musical. This was the very first VHS tape I ever watched in 1983. I believe I read somewhere that John's father was a gym teacher and that really is John doing the acrobatics, not a stunt double.
