The dude went to university 7 years because he was just partying the whole time, then he went to work for his dad, a lawyer, and even had his own office. It’s a mental illness at the end of the day, and mental illness can be genetic. There was a study done where soldiers coming back from Vietnam after doing heroin everyday for months, 95% of them stopped cold turkey and experienced very minor to no withdraws at all. The other 5% either continued to use or went through heavy withdraws. That 5% was genetically predisposed to addiction. Many studies have been done on this topic

It wasn't about the 1 dose of molly - it was so much more about the fact that Bert was about to have dinner with his family, he was also traveling that night, and he didn't know how the molly would interact w his medications (blood pressure). Bert could obviously 'handle' a dose of molly but it was all about the context of the situation and the fact that Ari betrayed Bert's family's trust. Ari used to be very close to Leann and Bert's daughters, but after that he was excommunicated
