(9 years sooner). The bottom line is obviously people prefer Taylor's music over Beyonce's by a large margin. The question we should be considering isn't why Beyonce has not won Album of the year as JZ pointed out hinting at racism, but why Taylor has only won 13 Grammys and been nominated 33 times compared to 88 nominations for Beyonce and 33 wins...but the recording academy playing favorites to Taylor Swift? Musical talent (in the words of Jimi Hendrix) isn’t by color. Yea, Beyoncé is talented, but she cannot write her own music, play instruments, which means she’s an entertainer not a composer. Prince even said, “he makes music…” it’s one thing to be able to sing and perform to the music, but someone has to serve it up to you to be able to execute it. I love Bey, but I wish she would sit at a piano, strum some easy guitar cords (three cords is very easy), or write lyrics. Since 1959 (64 years) only three black women have won Album Of The Year. That means that Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday (who dominated the 1930s to 1950s), Aretha Franklin and The Supremes (who dominated the 1960s), Mariah Carey (who dominated the 1990s), Beyonce (who dominated 2000 to 2010), and Rihanna (who dominated the 2010 to 2020), as well as Cardi B who is one of the hottest artists since 2017, have never won Album of the year while others break records in just a few years. I’m not a huge Taylor Swift fan, but of all people that should have won, Beyonce was absolutely not the one. I haven’t heard shit from her for a long time and she hasn’t really made an impact on music recently, whereas Taylor has had earthquake level concerts and massive and successful albums.
