I had a 2nd gen Versys that got nicked, now I've got a 3rd gen (with an Aprilia 750 and a Tiger 800 in between). I just love the Versys; it does everything. Also the Z900RS is a far more attractive proposition than this one, if you were inclined to go down that route (as I almost was).

I love the Z650RS Anniversary Edition. It's gorgeous and not overstated and one of my favorite looking bikes...I'm trying to be open minded but the Versys conversely is ugly as sin to me. It's too pointy and strange.

Haha! That's exactly why I like these two bikes for this comparison. Despite the fact that they look completely different from each other, they have a similar seating position, the same engine, and will have similar overall performance... but they look NOTHING like each other. The Versys is going to be the better, out of the box, bike for long distance travel, but the Z650RS is also quite capable with a few accessories. People wouldn't usually cross shop them, but since they both have good sporty performance, and are comfortable, they're actually closer than some people would think! Thanks for watching!

Yeah, it's a great value. It's not always what people picture when they think of a motorcycle. It has sport bike styling cues, but not sport bike lines, but I really like the look in person, and it becomes the kind of bike that you can use for anything. Trips to the store, trips across the country, and just fun rides that you'd use any other motorcycle for too. It's also great in cool weather. The wind protection can really help in those situations.
