In this video, I show the pellet stove we selected and installed last December. After a year of usage, we can report the we are extremely happy with our purchase. This stove has helped to keep our house comfortable even on the coldest of days. It helps to reduce the amount of time our whole house electric furnace runs....keeping our utility cost down.
We selected the HP22-N model since it will heat up to 2500 square feet and has a larger hopper and will hold up to 80 pounds of pellets. This means we can go much longer operational time and more days before needing to fill it.
Here is a link to the stove we purchased.

Hi Jim! I have a HP-22 that helps heat a 2500 sq. ft. home. This is my 2nd year with the stove and it has worked wonderfully. It can heat our entire 2 story home down to 35 degrees. Below that temp I kick in our wood stove on the same floor (1st) on the opposite side of the house. Both last year and this year I have been running on manual level 1. I opted for manual versus eco mode to save on the igniter. This year I put ceiling vents on the 1st floor to better heat the 2nd floor. That has been a game saver. Happy heating, and thanks for the video.

Nice! I’d like to learn more about the ceiling vents you added. I spoke with my wife about that idea, but haven’t pursued researching products available to do that. Would you be able to share an advertisement or photo of what you added for those?

Nice technology and since warm air rises you lose nothing it just goes upstairs, the outside air vent is a must for wood burning imho. If I was going to burn something for heat this is what I would buy but I am not convinced it is cheaper than a mini split heat pump but it sure looks nice with the flame and feels good Cheers Jim and stay warm lol.

Yes, I like it a lot so far. I considered a mini split for the basement, but wanted something to use as a back-up heat source in case the power goes out for an extended time. I can run the pellet stove off battery power, but don’t think I could do so with a split system.

I have a mini-split and I just purchased a ComfortBilt HP50S. The mini-split is great, but when it gets really cold a heatpump can't keep up and when it gets really really cold it'll completely quit. So for my purposes, the pellet stove is for back-up/occasional use.

Awesome my heat pump works off my well and it heats no matter what temperature it is outside as well water is 50 f all the time really cheap to run but if power goes out it would be good to have a backup. @@towermac1976

@@towermac1976 I agree! I have a mini-split in my pole barn and it works great most of the time...and is cheap to operate. But, it does indeed have issues when the temperatures are extreme. The pellet stove is great for those big swings and is a good heat source that you can operate off of batteries in emergency situations since it doesn't use much power.

only seen one pipe where is the air intake pipe, I have the same set up in a basement with the existing out pipe. Not sure where the intake will go.

The air intake is on the rear of the stove opposite side of where the exhaust pipe is. I have mine directed down thru my subfloor and then outside. I had to do that since I didn’t want to drill thru the brick wall behind the stove. It’s hard to see that in the video since it was dark on that side of the stove when I recorded that.

@@jimginnyohio curious why you didn't get the exhaust and intake in the same pipe going up your chimney?

@@dianesmith1525 My chimney pipe runs up about 30 feet on the outside of my house. I felt that would be too great a distance to pull the air down.

Hmm! Maybe not as common in Austrailia as in the United States? Most of our home improvement, hardware stores, and farm supply stores carry them. We just have to shop around for the best prices.
