Believe it or not, I was there on the night they filmed this. And if Gilmour's half time break hadn't overrun by about 20 minutes, I'd have actually seen this! Unfortunately, I had to leave just before David Bowie took to the stage. :( Not to worry though, cos I finally got to see Comfortably Numb live at the same venue in 2015 and 2016. The 2016 one was absolutely phenomenal. I was one of those hated people who recorded it on my phone, but I don't care what people think, because it means I've been able to enjoy it dozens of times since, as well as enjoying it on the night.

I heard Pink Floyd live twice. (Just after Roger waters left) they don't disappoint. And yes Comfortably numb live is awesome.

take it one step at a time, check out the solo tab and the corresponding scale, there's a good degree of improv and "feel" in gilmours technique, you'll get there, learn a little bit at a time that's the way :)

Without doubt the finest recorded performance of this solo by Master David! Something almost spiritual with a powerful undercurrent and great chord changes. There is only one David Gilmour... there will never be another Pink Floyd.
@dukeon13 жыл бұрын
The greatest thing about this solo is that every time it sounds like it's about to wrap up, he just takes it to another level and keeps going... even more so in the "PULSE" version and some bootlegs I've heard than here, but this one is very, very nice as well for some of the little variations he does. Definitely my favorite solo, and there are a LOT of great ones!

gilmour is as good as it gets. don't kid yourself that it's easy to play. the subtle harmonics, the bends and vibrato all things that make him what he is. I've never heard anybody play a gillmour solo quite like him. Every time i go in the guitar shop, all i hear are the kids dying to be Mr shreddy McShred playing 'may i help you' riffs. the feeling gilmour puts in and the tone he gets are amazing. long live david gilmour.

A good musician is someone who makes music. A good guitarist is someone who makes music with his instrument. A guitarist who plays 20 notes per second is not a musician, is a circus show, a circus attraction. Much more talented guitarist is who plays a single note for 20 seconds and extract music from it, as Duane Allman. Each Gilmour guitar solo is pure music through guitar like no one else can do. And for this simple reason Gilmour is the greatest guitarist of all time. (PS: I'm a guitarist, I understand this issue well, and know what you think, which is the same as everybody thinks - and you are all wrong).
@SSSSBBBB8110 жыл бұрын
Clapton can do better, Knopfler can do better, Allman could do better, I love David Gilmour and he's one of the greatest but he's overrated. He's a musical genius and a great influential composer but as far as guitarists go, he's overrated just a bit.
@fernandoc.campos884210 жыл бұрын
