This is my first time seeing this, 6 years after the upload and I am in tears. Roughly around the time this was uploaded, maybe take a year, when I was 17/18, a friend at school trusted me with a rabbit they couldn't keep anymore, she was the only rabbit I ever had. I named her Lily and I loved her so dearly. One day when I was at school, someone had opened the gate and door leading to my room, and our large dog had gotten around and somehow opened the cage door and chased Lily all around my room. I came home to the gate opened, bedding all over my room, things severely out of place and tipped over. I found Lily hiding in a pile of my clothes in my closet. She was rapidly breathing clearly in shock. She didn't have any marks on her but I knew from the scene the incident stressed her out. I took her to the vet and they said she would turn out okay, and I wanted to stay home so badly but I had to work, so I entrusted my mom to care for her during my short shift until I got home. I came home, my room dark, and Lily was dead. All alone in her cage even though I begged my mom to just hold her and leave the dog outside as it was cool and she could've. I cry every time I think about it because I wanted to be there for her so terribly and she died alone. We buried her in the backyard and I will never forget her.

I'm so sorry your family had no regard for your little fur baby. I've learned over the years to never trust ANYONE with any pet of mine unless they're an avid animal lover like myself. My worst fear has always been some jerk opening my door or bedroom door and my cats getting outside and never coming back. If that ever happen I'd have to be very careful around the culprit who opened said door because I'd go into an absolute rage. On the other hand there is the despair and sadness when the pain is internalized because you were helpless to do anything about it. While that is horrendous to endure, it's the only civilized option quite honestly. And some people use that in order to teach themselves to never allow such a situation ever again. BTW I'm not saying any of that as blame to you - you had no idea. Just relating how I've been through a similar situation and the pain was just too much. What's worse is then you had to be around that dog still and deal with your mom's callousness (or so I assume). I hope you never had to go through kind of pain again. It's beyond unbearable and I wouldn't wish it upon anyone. Although I believe it's a way many of us animal lovers learn that keeping a pet requires much more than just love. You have to ensure it's in a safe and healthy environment where such things can't happen again. Thank you you for sharing. The world needs more empathetic people like yourself and less of the emotionless ones that simply view animals as things to ignore or abuse.

I'm so sad and sorry for you and Lily. There is nothing probably that can make you feel better but I think the vet was wrong, and that the stress did kill her, just not immediately. Maybe having someone with her would have helped, but maybe not. Rabbits are so delicate in many ways. But I am so sorry for the pain and grief you are experiencing. I wish there was a way to take it away from you. Time DOESN'T heal all wounds, but they do become more bearable.

When I was in high school I got a pet rabbit. I was there looking to get gerbils as my old ones had passed away and I was looking for new pets. The store was out but they had this young black rabbit that looked just like the one in this video except for its coloration. I named it Mel and he was my buddy for SOOOO many years. I got him as a pet not knowing much about rabbits. We had a special connection and he ended up living a very good long life. In the end he got lethargic like this rabbit was and we knew his time was coming to an end. We took him to the vet to see if we could do anything and they said it was just old age and it was "her" time. We had been told wrong by the pet store all those years prior and our boy was a girl, so Mel became Melissa on her last day. She passed away peacefully in my arms and I've missed her ever since.

im dying on the inside. I lost my bunny this morning. I fell asleep watching TV last night. Clyde jumped on the couch with me and tucked himself into my armpit. I woke up and scratched his head gave him a kiss and fell back asleep. he snuggled so close to me it was awesome and he seemed so happy. I rescued Clyde a year ago while I was doing door to door sells. he was being chased by 2 small dogs so I scared them away and touched his head and he seemed tame. I picked a dandelion and waved it in front of him and he graciously accepted it. after munching he put both his front paws on my leg which were Indian style. I knew I made a friend. I must have knocked at least 40 door asking if anyone owned a bunny. to no avail I couldn't find his owner. I decided I was going to call it a day from work and put him in my big carrybag after taking my belongings out. he came him with me and I decided he should go outside. he made himself a burrow under my shed and seemed so happy. he came inside quite often but he loved being outside. over the months he would come running to me everytime he saw me it was so cute to see his gleeful face. he slept in bed with me alot and watch TV with me. sometimes he would sit above me on my couch cushions and nibbled my hair. last night we had our routine cuddle everything was perfect. after I woke up the second time I got up and went to bed. he followed me into the room and hopped onto my bed and tunneled into my blanket like usual. I gave him one more kiss before falling asleep. this morning when I woke up he was on my pillow already ready for food. I filled his food bowl and he ate while I had my cereal. I always let him see out my front door by opening it so he can see out of the storm door. I began getting ready for work had my shower brushed my teeth pick my outfit and combed my hair. while doing my hair I heard a loud screech and freaked out an ran to Clyde like a mother hearing her child scream. he looked completely fine. I went back to getting ready when I heard the scream again rushing to him again to find him perfectly fine. as I finished getting ready for work I propped my back door open so Clyde could make his way outside. this morning I noticed he wasnt going outside. I decided to go get him a put him outside. seeing him by the front door he was on his side he always lays down by the front door where a sunspot is coming through the storm door. as I got near I noticed he didn't react or even look when I called his name. I went to wake him thinking he was sleeping. as I almost picked him up I noticed he was not breathing. I panicked scooping him up in my arms in tears at this point just trying to get him to wake up or something after about 3 minutes I realised he was gone. I still have no idea what happened and im devastated. I want to hold him right now its almost time for bed and I don't know how to go without him. I feel broken. 😢

Rest In Peace little one, you’ve touched the hearts of thousands and we wish one of us could have shielded you from your trauma that caused your passing, but you had a caring man to comfort you and I hope that invoked feelings of being cared for by your parent when you were young. These two were meant to meet. Thank Rabbit, for trusting humanity and thank you nice cameraman for comforting our small friend. Farewell, for now. 💛🐰

Thank you for showing kindness to this bunny . A few months ago a young die and her fawn came to our land in a group of many. The mom was badly injured by a bear trap and had lost a back foot. The game commission wouldn’t intervene, unless she would be so lethargic and we want to get her killed. We didn’t want this. We’ve been told she could survive maybe and that’s best for her baby. I started feeding her. First I left food at their spot but threw it, so I didn’t need to get close. She was afraid but ate the food. I fed her and gave her fresh water. The other deers sometimes went away for a day or two but always came back to her and her baby. She nursed her baby and it’s so much bigger now. She now gets food from me directly and even nurses next to me. During a storm last week, they came under our porch, for shelter. Her injury is healed . Of course she’s missing a foot and she’s slower but she does get around way faster than I ever hoped. She runs again, even if a bit slower but she keeps up at her best ability. She doesn’t leave our property. I hope she and her herd will stay because I fear for her during the hunting season. We think about building a run in shed for them at the other end of our property,close to the woods. It is such a special experience, to get to know a wild animal. I hope that I would be able to comfort a dying animal as well, if it comes to it.

@@Riververchi we’re not sure but it was around her foot, at least part of the claws. There are always bear m9ms and babies in the spring on our lot coming from the woods. 100% the bloke made it worse. You can't "comfort" a wild animal, they have absolutely 0 understanding of what being stroked means. As far as that Rabbit was concerned it was dying and it was about to be killed by the person touching it.
@mysteryman96414 жыл бұрын
When you got a bad headache or are severely sick extra movement makes the whole experience even a bit less pleasant. He might of thought he was helping but the rabbit would have already been comfortable and he just was disturbing it. They are used to being on the floor sleeping and don't need a blanket to stay warm as they are always in the open air so this could have made dying hot and less pleasant then it already was. It even tried to move away when he kept touching it, it didn't like it and wanted to be left alone.

The life we have is borrowed. We didn't give it to ourselves and we can't cling to it, either. All we can do is be careful stewards of it. Eventually, though we will lose it. BUT, all is not lost. The Author of Life can reanimate and resurrect us. History shows He did it Himself which demonstrates that the same can happen to us IF we let Him transform us into people who will be happy living forever in His presence. That's the condition. The natural, fleshly, "normal" life must be surrendered and put to death. We let Him do a heart transplant and choose to let Him place new desires and affections in our minds. If you're willing to do that, you can have assurance that the One, Jesus - promised to humanity from before creation - whose Name is above every other name and who already rose from the dead, WILL raise you as well. When He gives you assurance of that, death won't have the same power to frighten you because it's already been defeated. I pray that you seriously think about this because it's your only hope of getting off of this little ball of rock in space alive, your only hope of eternal life, and your only hope of true existential purpose and significance.

Death is the cherry on top of life mate. Without it life would have much less value. The most important thing is to enjoy your life the best you can without hindering others enjoyment of their’s, no matter how short or long it may be.
@deliberativedisciple Жыл бұрын
@@monboze9572 You're missing something. It's not that you've said nothing true. After all, in the immediate sense death *can* help humans appreciate the life they have. But, in the ultimate sense, it robs their life of all meaning, especially if the universe is destined for heat death. The first reality is lousy comfort for the latter. "The living know that they shall die, but the dead know nothing." Ecc. 9:5. While you have the ability to think, don't use the time to ignore your eventual death. Instead, "Teach me to number my days." Value the life you have now AND protect it against ultimate loss by accepting the guarantee of eternal life through what Jesus has done.

@GodfreyFirstEldenLord10 ай бұрын
@@HowieHoward-ti3dxpff, once they are like this there’s literally no saving them anymore. They’re already dead, my bunny died yesterday the same like this rabbit. The moment they completely stop living (eating, drinking and fearing) is the moment they’re dead. There’s no point in taking the bunny just to take away it’s life between concrete walls full of fear instead of just letting it go in peace. It’s hard but these guys sometimes just die and there’s nothing we can do about that. It’s the same for human patients, once a patient says he’s gonna die doctors take that very seriously cause most of the times the patient actually will die especially if there’s no panic in their voice or any emotions left. They’re imply dead and I don’t think there’s a vet in the world who could help that guy. After all in most cases once symptoms of any sort of illness arrive there’s not much you can do except help the body but since the body is already shutting down there’s no use. You can see it in their eyes that they’re dead

This happened to me, too. A few months earlier, my dog got into a rabbit’s nest, but she was luckily not a killer and simply held the baby bunnies. My mom took them inside and put them in a shoe box to rest, hoping that in the morning she could place hay over the nest and put the babies back in until their mother came for them, and that’s what she did. Every now and then, I would get concerned the rabbits weren’t alive or something, and I went outside around midnight and would see the bunnies hopping around my backyard in healthy condition. One even came up to me and licked my finger. A few months later, I hadn’t seen any sign of them, and I had pretty much forgotten about it, until one day, a teenage rabbit was sitting in my backyard. Just like usual, my dog ran towards it, expecting it would run, but stopped when it didn’t. I was confused and went outside, too, sitting in front of the bunny and even offering it some lettuce, which it chewed on a bit and spat it out. I didn’t know what to do, so I called my mom out, and we put the rabbit in a plastic box with some warm blankets to rest as we drove it to a wildlife rescue center, and unfortunately, it died the second before we got there, but the worker there said it was about the age we found the babies, meaning there was a possibility it was one of the rabbits that came back to the place it was born to die.

The rabbit has myxmatosis which causes paralysis in most rabbits. It's a bacteria that eats away at the rabbits muscles/flesh (hence the rabbit was missing an eye) which eventually causes the rabbit to become paralysed, all it can do is sit and wait for it to pass. There is no cure and it is becoming very common now. It's pretty sad that there's nothing you can do except comfort them.

My dog died this time last year and it still makes me cry to think of him. I had him since he was a puppy. He would come lay by me when I was sad or upset, and I would "protect" him during storms and fireworks. I loved all of his little quirks, knew his favorite foods and places to go, and took care of him as he grew older. I held Jack and talked to him as he passed, telling him, "It's okay, buddy", because he understood that meant something was safe when he was scared or unsure. I can't imagine not ever crying thinking about that, but I'm so grateful to have been there to say goodbye to my great friend. I hope I see him again, one day.

when I was a child my older sister found a wild rabbit. He was slow and seemed just strange for a wild rabbit, turns out he was invested with what is called a "Rabbit Botfly." These grey fat worms that are the size of a thumb, that live and feed inside the rabbit. They leave wound holes like the one in the video. She spent hours getting them out of the rabbit. I remember she put them in a empty candy can as she got them out. By the end there was probably 4 or 5 fat worms. The rabbit was "better" but he was still a wild rabbit, who basically was a feeding ground for fat worms for a while. So better was a stretch, he was still very much suffering from being a to go breakfast lunch and dinner for a while. I remember my sis told her teacher about it when she went to school, the teacher was very kind to take on the responsibility of the rabbit. She took the rabbit to the vet. I dont remember much after I was too young I just remember the rabbit did live after the teacher took it.
