I like the Tiny Houses, they are RVIA Certifieid, but look like small versions of houses. So many different styles as well. If you have kids, and they go to college, maybe they can use the tiny house to live while in college. I can see more college students using tiny houses for their dorm, which gives them what they need and would be safer than a dorm, with a pandemic. Colleges should have like a lot for tiny houses or RV’s to be used as dorms. Also, they would not have to move in and out each year and have a place to live during summer months as well. Students can still get a meal plan for when they are on campus, and cook on the weekend. If I was a college student now, I would talk to the President of the College about re-purposing that lot for tiny houses, especially with Covid, it would be safer for students to have their own tiny house, so they are exposing themselves to the virus and its variants so much. Even if you are vaccinated it would cut down your exposure.
@tempgirl007113 жыл бұрын
Amen! Would def help save for the families, but u know how that goes, colleges are like corporations, if don't make THEM money, it don't make sense. They nickle n dime da shyt outta us, making all that money from the sports and still raising the SHYT outta tuition and everything else. Leaving half of these kids and families in debt, without any guarantee of a job in their field. Jus saying, it's a good racket can't see them doing anything that could cut into their profits. Heck even online classes aren't even as cheap as they should be. I bet if these institutions were held somewhat accountable for that whole job thing, and if within a certain amount of time and direct effort on their part, no job. They have to EAT a certain percentage of their student's tuition debt, I bet things would change. These places don't even let the kids sell their books back after a class, stating it's no longer valid. After 3-4 months! Crazy. But I guess doing that would help the kids not make money for the school. Anyway it's a great idea. Would've been good to have a set up like this for my son, who's in school out of state right now. Well not in his freshman year, but after that no problem.
@ZeoCyberG3 жыл бұрын
It's not just appearance, Tiny Houses use the same construction methods as you would use to build a small version house. There's even a building code they can comply with so in places that have adopted the Appendix Q update from the 2018 IRC (International Residential Code) they can be placed on a foundation and recognized as a regular house... It's also why states like CA and WA will accept a tiny house as a ADU but won't allow that for an RV or even a Park Model RV... Down side is they're heavy, not aerodynamic, and thus much harder to move than a RV, which are built much more minimally, but you get the benefits of living in something actually built to be a home... Though, some builders avoid RVIA certification because that makes it harder to recognize them as a legal residence. RVIA outright states anything with their certification is not intended to be used as a home and they don't support DIY builds either. But there are alternatives like NOAH that provide the same certificate benefit but make it easier to show it is intended to be a home and they support DIY builds and not just those from commercial builders with their own production factories... RVIA itself is a 3rd party organization, so aside from name recognition there's actually quite a few other organizations that provide the same type of certification, including ANSI, which establishes many of the standards the certifications are based upon, and are what Park Model RV's follow for comparison... Wind River Tiny Homes is actually certified by Pacific West Associates, an accredited RV engineering firm... While some builders will offer both Tiny Houses on wheels as well as units that are intended to be placed on foundations and meet local code... Prefab units can also still be movable like container homes, among the options available, but are intended to be placed on foundations and thus follow those rules and regulations for zoning and local building codes...

A tiny home in college would be a great idea!
@susanpratt32903 жыл бұрын
@@MoseyingAround, I wish they had tiny houses when I was in college, they did have a trailer park, which they use as a parking space, no trailers there anymore. Would be a great place for a college Tiny house village/park (including RV's as well). It is near the bus stop for the college free Aggie Shuttle. Love not having to move out of dorms and not much time to get packed, because you are expected to move out right after finals. Don't know why they don't give you more time to pack after finals (so you don't have to use study time to pack). You don't have to have a room mate either, and most apartments are set up with multiple roommates.

In a tiny house, an area with high ceilings makes a huge difference in creating an open feeling but to each their own. 😉😊 They could always add a shelf there in the future

Yea we definitely thought about incorporating a secondary loft into our build. But knew we didn’t really necessarily need that space and didn’t want a spot to collect clutter. And having the tall ceilings makes our space feel huge! Which is super nice.
