Life is unfair. This became the running motif in Femecia’s life. Because in her world, people receive magic blessings at the age of 5.
Blessings ranked by number of stars, with 3 stars being the highest and most coveted in their society.
She was blessed with the skill to tame monsters. Only, with zero stars. A completely and utterly worthless rank, as she couldn’t even tame small, meekly animals.
The acceptance in the village she grew up in, became rejection.
The love she received from her parents, became hate.
She was forced to flee from her hometown while being chased by bounty hunters employed by her village.
She changes her name to Ivy, to take on a new identity.
She cuts her hair so she can pass as a boy, to avoid the hunters.
She hasn’t given up on life- because there is something special about her. She was reincarnated from our world into the girl she is now. And the voice of her past life gives her advice on how to live. And who to be.
She eventually meets a tiny slime who she befriends, named Sora.
And now the weakest duo is on a quest to reach the royal capital, where she’s been told she’ll receive the purpose she’s been missing.

I don't think that being starless makes them stronger. When Druid's brothers lost their stars, they didn't get more powerful. I think Ivy being starless has to do with having the soul of someone from another world.

I'm with you guys...Ivy didn't deserve to be thrown out like that. But also...after watching the parents go from loving to resenting all because she didn't have stars...my guess is they only loved her because they thought she had stars...or, for her stars. So, they and the village got what came to them following the fortune teller's death.

To be fair, the anime didn't touch up on things that were mentioned in the manga, namely the village priest and chief were colluding for some reason, I think trying to spread religious dogma or something and they decided to use femicia as a scapegoat to rally the stupid villagers behind the idea that starless are abandoned by the gods thus deserve to die mentality or something like that

What the anime doesn't touch upon is that femicia's parents were highly religious thus immediately believing the lying priest and village chief, I believe she points out the actions of the chief priest and her father and they got taken care of off-screen(in manga tho)

My Current Theory for how Starless Taming Works is that 1: The Tamer isn't limited by the Creature's Strength ( The Final Part elaborates on this ) 2: The Tamer needs to actually form a bond with the creature in order to Tame them ( You cant force a Creature to be tamed ) 3: Being Starless means your Skill Develops along with the user ( The Only 2 Creatures she tamed were at completely different levels and at those points she was, Scared or Adjusting ) 4: Though we lack several examples needed for this guess, I assume Starless all are Reincarnated & Also must face several hardships ( How else would a Starless Survive their Hardships ) Bonus (Random Assumption): The Tamer might need to reach a Requirement of something related to the Creature's natural activities to be capable of taming it (Hunting Animals, etc )

My own theory is that being starless is actually a blessing from the gods, since they did say humans didn't have magic before and since every human had evolved to have magic and the stars it has to mean that being starless is actually a blessing and not a curse like some people of the world seem to think.
