Received this Comgo Z1 #laserengraver from Comgrow to review. It is 400mm x 400mm with a 5w Laser Diode. Will it perform as advertised? Lets unbox it, set it up, and do some testing!

Great video - thanks for sharing! For anyone using "Cermark" laser spray on steel items (very expensive at $7 to $10 per ounce), give mustard a try. Sounds crazy but cover the etching area with regular store-bought yellow mustard and then engrave at normal settings. Try one with the mustard still wet and one after drying to see which works best for your needs. I don't remember where I saw this on KZbin, but I am not the one who came up with it. Just passing along a good tip. Good luck!

I've found on anything metallic we would cover with either painter's tape or a coat of flat black rattle can. That's how I've burned/etched pcbs in the past. Great video!

You could drop in some colored UV resin into the embossing on the campfire board to really make it pop.

I liked the custom laser glasses on Bear. I'm surprised that he let you eat the hot dog. Good review, really like the graphics

Thanks David! Bear actually didn’t want anything to do with those glasses. Usually he is a willing participant, however these glasses were tickling his ears 😉! Bear got the crackers, which I forgot to film, and wasn’t around for the hotdog. Been trying different graphics lately. The more graphics I use does increase the rendering time. However, think it is worth it in the long run 👍. Thanks again for watching and commenting!

So now you can grill burgers on your FDM printer and hot dogs and buns on your laser. Once you get the plasma cutter you can "go the whole hog". Great to see Bear practices pew pew safety. Nice video John. Did you have air assist when you engraved the Firepit board?

Have you tried etching aluminum? I wonder if it etches well when painted like you did with the glass.

Wondering if your limitation on the board to reach 400x400 is because you have the numbers on left and bottom using that space.

Compré una comgo z1 de COMGROW cómo hace 20 días y está es la hora que no he podido utilizarla la primera vez. No me conecta mi PC con la máquina dice que es por el drive ch340 y aun así instalado no me conecta, actualize el firmware tampoco instale en dos computadoras distintos tampoco alguien me podría ayudar en decirme que pasa?,😭😭😭👎

My laser is still very New. Just used it for three weekends when I'm at home. It worked very well befofe. However, it has suddenlly started producing very faint light at the diode. It's not burning anymore because the light/beam is weak . What could be the problem ? The engraver is comgo z1

Great video! But have you ever engraved any other metals? I'm really curious about brass and copper?

Unfortunately the 455nm diode laser will not engrave brass or copper. Basically it will only mark stainless steel. If you want the engrave metals you will need a 1064nm laser. Hope that answers your question? Thanks

You would need longer extrusions and belts.

I have my comgo z1, but the Y doesnt move and I do not why. Could you give me some tips to verify the Y movement. Thanks I am in Mexico.

Greetings m! I would first start with all the connections to the Y and to the board. Also look for damages to the cables. You can switch the X and Y cables for a simple test. Hope that helps!
