I am forever grateful to you for doing this segment on our little sketch community back in the day. It meant a lot to each of us. Quite a few of those artists grew up and have careers of their own now. I went on to work in animation at Warner Bros in LA. I worked on Bugs Bunny, Wizard of Oz, Spongebob, Animaniacs and several other projects. I moved back to Lubbock in 2020 during the pandemic and have been doing stuff in my community here since. Its been a fascinating journey. Thank you, Bob Phillips and the TCR team. You all are wonderful.

I’ve been a comic book collector for quite some time. I’m in my 50s now and I have thousands of comics in my room as a kid all 3:42 I used to do was draw and I absolutely loved it because my mom really couldn’t afford to buy us all the expensive toys. so she would always buy me a sketchpad tracing pad, pencil. & She bought me a how to draw book and it was a game changer for me, 4:01 😊❤ I used to always sit around and draw Garfield But I end up not following through with that passion & as an adult now I absolutely regret it. I mean I can hardly draw a line with a ruler 😂cso wasted that talent. Some of my favorite artists are Todd McFarlane,David Nakayama, Greg Capo, Clayton, Crane, Amanda, Connor, Frank Cho, and fellow, Native American and comic book artist Jeffrey Veregge but recently passed away this past April. He had worked done at the Smithsonian. he also worked at Marvel comics was a very very talented indigenous artist and I was absolutely heartbroken when I heard he passed away.

I met Frank Cho when he was first starting out, I saw Todd McFarlane too the first year he did spawn. I've met Amanda Conner (and her partner Jimmy Palmiotti) a few times. They are all lovely humans. I would have loved to have met Mr Veregge. I am sorry to hear he passed. My condolences. Do you still draw anymore? You should give it another try if you haven't. Keep it simple and have fun. You know its funny, they filmed this TCR episode in 2007, and the flyers I used to make at the time to get people to come out had this little cartoon guy with phrases people would always say to me; "I can't draw a straight line with a ruler" "Cant even draw flies" "Cant even draw stick figures" was another. It always made me smile. The truth is there is no wasted talent. You could pick it back up now and still find the same joy you did as a kid. That's what I loved about the sketch group. Drawing is supposed to be fun, if you let it be. There are some guys that still meet every week that met at the original sketchclub nearly 20 years ago. Many of them are in their 50's as well. If you're ever in Lubbock stop by the Market Street on 19th and Quaker Saturdays at 7:00. They're there every week.
