I'm sure Captain America #1 is worth a fortune especially because it even encourages kids to recycle the comic itself to help the war effort.

There are a few comic shops like that in the Seattle area. You can tell they had big business back in the early '90's and never changed; never changed their business strategy, never changed their shop interior/displays, never changed their mindsets. They became huge dustbins filled with shitty comics and cards. I have no idea how some of them stay in business. Especially in the era we are now in where it seems a few comic shops close every month.

This is great, Sal. I was in Collector's Corner yesterday, found two issues of Wizard (40 and 41) in the dollar bin. The guy said "They're all yours". I had the exact opposite experience...

Oh this, this story actually kinda sad, I kinda feel bad for that guy now. Though still not bad enough to want to buy that issue of Wizard myself.

I still buy and collect old Toyfare and Wizard issues. This comic shop I go to once a year they still have old Wizard issues in a box collecting dust right at a side window. They're only like 50 cents each which is good enough fir me. I even found Wizard issue 25 in good condition

There is a comic shop in the mall of my home town. Heard the mall will close down. Then I would have to buy all my comics online or travel an hour to the nearest big city to find a store :(

There was a pawnshop down the block from my house. They had a bunch of old comics, it's how I got Spider-Man 2099 issues 1-9 which was such a big deal to me then lol. The old guy who owned the place would talk to me about movies & give me free comics for sweeping the floor or stocking/reorganizing the shelves.

I live in the same town as Sal and think I know the exact place. I feel kinda bad since I don't think the owner knows any better and seems like a good guy. However that did not stop me from laughing my ass off. Wizard was probably not even worth cover price fresh off the presses, still I kinda miss it too . All in all another great episode with another great tangent.

Staying current on the books can sometimes get you lucky. I don't go for like, buy and flip kind of thing, but I happened to buy 2 of the Greg Land Edge of Spider-Verse 2 variants for $40 total. I just really liked Spider-Gwen at the time and see seemed popular enough. Both of them ended up flipped for $800 total. o__o That paid for my pull list for a good while.

stores like this really annoy me too, and way over inflated ebay prices, thats everything wrong with comic collecting. Marvel seem to be a little bit better inn regards to reprints, but DCs infinite Crisis omni just makes me sick!

Video games collecting is like this to, where people will get their hands on super common games, even as recent as the PS2, and think they can jack up the price on them cause they're never going to make anymore. What's the point of going out of your way to go to a retail store if everything costs as much as the highest listing on ebay?

Hey, as the owner of a copy of the WitchBlade compendium vol 1, i resent your constant mockery of the series. Have I read it yet? No. Am I going to read it soon out of a desire to come back and argue its merits? No, maybe one day after I finish my wonder woman trades. Now that I think about it, I might have only bought it out of mild curiosity due to this show. The artists on it can draw pretty things though, I particularly like Micheal Turner. I rescind my initial complaint at your treatment of Witchblade, since as a 90's book its presumably ridiculous.

By a systematic process of elimination I am sure Sal has provided enough information for the general populous to identify this offending hobby shop. I plan to break in to the store at night and purchase his issue of Witchblade for $110.

I know what you mean guys, but have a little pity for the poor comic shop owners of the world... they're scraping by folks... more and more disappear like haggard Yeti's in the mist... don't be cruel... buy some shit and keep them afloat or it'll all be online soon... and the classic comic shop will be but a memory.. aww..

There are good comic shops with welcoming environments and helpful staff who care about growing the hobby and then there are comic shops run by Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons. The former deserves our support. Not the latter.
