How about this for a theory. The Beyonder, worried about Thanos getting his hands on the Infinity Stones and what Thanos would do with power that rivaled his own, decides to go undercover and see if the various heroes have what it takes to stop him. He inhabits various people in multiple continuities just as the heroes do something significant, observes them, then returns to the Beyond to assess what he learned. Each time he inhabits a different person, we see him as Stan Lee. 'Nuff said.

*About Stan's Role in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer* I have already made a video that mentioned that scene and how it's ripped almost directly from the comics. I'll link to that below. But even though he says his name is Stan Lee, that doesn't mean that the character he's playing -- assuming that it's the same character in each movie -- is simply the literal interpretation of the human Stan Lee. If that was the case, then he wouldn't be able to exist in the past and present at nearly the same age. However, he could be the One-Above-All simply disguising himself once again as Stan Lee. That would explain how he could exist across multiple universes and time periods. Kang the Conqueror has also gone by a few different aliases, so it's not too far off to think that he could go by Stan Lee in that specific universe. My thoughts are Stan Lee is, in fact the character Stan Lee, a 5 dimensional being with the magic powers like Mopey, Bat Mite and Mxyzptlk. He can appear in the past, future and present, make himself appear to look like anybody in that reality (hence why he looks like Willie Lumpkin in the one movie, and the mayor of Vista Verde in the one cartoon, and the janitor of Spider-man's high school/SHIELD cover in another cartoon). The reason he isn't paying attention to everything is the same reason these beings don't... they like having fun and get distracted. This also explains how Stan Lee can appear in DC comics and in cartoons that aren't apart of Marvel (Mighty 7, The Simpsons). At one point in the comics (I think it was the 90s or 2000s) a magical imp that looked a lot like the 1970s Stan Lee (wide lapels, bell-bottom pants and big brown sunglasses) appeared in the comics to talk to certain superheroes and get them "back on track". I think he when by the name "The Man" or something.

OMG (as the kids say), I remember the comics. It was called Marvel Flashback Months and all the titles got a negative one (-1) numbering. And Stan "the Man" Lee was a character in some of them. ***** did you notice that in the avengers: age of ultron, that of the two WWII vet's (the one who is not Stan Lee, the one in the beige)hat) gets frozen in time after drinking Asgardian mead? you can see him standing completely still in a position that suggests he got frozen in time immediately after taking a shot as Stan Lee's character says "Excelsior!" and is helped off-screen, drunk. This at least suggests that Stan is superior, since in the comics it is established that Asgardian mead is the only stuff that capt. America can get drunk off of, and that Natasha (black widow) drinks it and only becomes drunk. The other WWII vet that drinks it becomes frozen in time for some period of time (apparently), and Stan Lee simply gets drunk off it (much like Natasha). thoughts?

When they did the Phineas and Ferb crossover Stan got himself a cameo as Stan the hot dog vendor. He moved from New York to Danville and the craziness of the superheros followed him there. Best random non canon Stan cameo outside of Fred's Dad in Big Hero 6.

In the ultimate Spider-Man universe it's mentioned that Stan (the character) is a member of Shield and that he was undercover at Peter Parker's high school as Stan the janitor. Maybe Spidey isn't the only one who's keeping tabs on, that would explain why he's been seen in so many different places as so many different people.

I feel like Stan could be playing a mixture of the watcher and the one above all as he appears to watch everything but he also seems to not care too much so he doesn’t have to observe everything and that the watcher got away with interfering in the comics coz he is the one above all which gave him leanience and couldn’t be stopped. I also think that at some point he’ll be able to interfere properly like in the infinity war as he is meant to be able to lift Thor’s hammer meaning he could help if something were to happen to Thor (hopefully not he’s amazing)
